Hardly surprising. She must be on course to drop one of the fewest games to a final in a long time, since the days you used to get players reach R4 dropping like 4 games. As she has dropped 22 games so far. No-one has taken more than 5 games off her in a match yet. Kvitova and Kenin have looked nowhere near as good.

It's a different level weight of shot. You could tell vs Svitolina, Podoroska likes to work into a point, which Svitolina completely let her do through being so passive, and gradually dictate off her forehand. You won't get that time to ever get into the point though vs someone playing like Iga is this fortnight, they will be all over you from the first shot.

I think I know what you mean. I play like Podoroska a bit myself. But I play this dude who hits hard and goes wide and I am always scrambling and never getting into a good position to play a proper shot.

Yeah no break, straight through like with the ladies. If Iga would hurry up, I might be able to get to bed before 6am this morning. My own fault for not working out the schedule beforehand. Had I know what it was I would have slept in the evening till start of play, rather than at 6am or so here which is 7pm in France.

Not announced yet. I think it would be scandalous to do that though. I imagine in coming months voices of discontent against this system will rise (as ever the discontent only comes after people see the effects even though the effects have been known since it was announced if you read into it), so I imagine they will have to go back to normal.

I actually wish they would change how they are using 2019 points starting 2021, as like I say the rankings are just going to be crap until the end of the season if they don't.

Trevisan and Podoroska were easy opponents for a QF and SF, but still impressive from Iga to take care of business the way she did after the win over Simona.
