First-seeded and two-time defending champion Björn Borg successfully defended his tennis title at the 1980 French Open, defeating Vitas Gerulaitis 6–4, 6–1, 6–2 in the final to win his fifth French title after 1974, 1975, 1978 and 1979. Borg went through the entire tournament, which featured 17 of the top 20 players, without dropping a set; this would not be achieved by a man at a Grand Slam event again until Roger Federer at the 2007 Australian Open.

I am actually surprised Iga is a big as she is outright. The odds suggest Petra will be fav.

no, it's the same thing he did with Konta vs Marketa. He just looks at the ranking.

I think Iga too big outright atm, I think she should be like 1.7.

I know he's just a mug of course. But it's an unbelievable statement. I mean he has actually been watching Swiatek's at least last 3 matches unless he literally doesn't watch the tennis ITV are showing. There's one thing claiming Halep will win easy and so on because he almost certainly won't have heard of Iga before, but there's another thing altogether to make out the final will be a walkover after he's just seen Iga dish out 3 straight beatdowns.

Björn Borg defeated Ilie Năstase in the final, 6–4, 6–2, 9–7 to win the Gentlemen's Singles tennis title at the 1976 Wimbledon Championships. Borg was the first man in the Open Era to win a Wimbledon singles title without dropping a set. Arthur Ashe was the defending champion, but lost in the fourth round to Vitas Gerulaitis.

Dropped 70 games in that run

R1 David Lloyd 63 63 61
R3 Marty Riessen 62 62 64
R3 Colin Dibley 64 64 64
R4 Brian Gottfried 62 62 75
QF Guillermo Vilas 63 60 62
SF Roscoe Tanner 64 98(7-1) 64
F Ilie Nastatse 64 62 97

I wonder what the actual record is open era. Surely can't be much less than 10. 10 sounds unbelievable in itself lol.

I just looked up Graf's number. She's nowhere near this. Usually you can get lots of bagels and breadsticks early on, but then you lose more games in QF and SF.

Yer the gag used to be how many games you'd drop week 1, and often in Graf's case it's like 3 first 3 rounds, then maybe a couple R4, but often many more later. Iga's scores have been near identical since R1, indeed it's Hsieh and Bouchard who have taken the most games off her. The higher ranked players actually took the least (Halep and Vondrousova both 3).

Neil! Inverdale needs putting in a small room with Iga fans for his disrespect.

It's interesting how much they're hyping Petra's form, has she really been that good, her draw has been very nice. Still got to win the matches of course, but it's not been that impressive.

Rennae Stubbs @rennaestubbs
· 38m I asked @iga_swiatek who her idols were growing up on @espn. She said she didn’t really model her game after anyone or have an idol. She said “ I learned tennis playing on my play station” !! I swear to god! Her words! Face with tears of joy @Sony are u listening! (we know she loves @RafaelNadal )

Kenins skirt very short. Is she trying to gain the males fans showing a bit of bum cheek. Does look a nice rear tho tbh.

That's the one, a record for a dinosaur fossil.
Quite, quite ridiculous that someone has so much money that they can splash it on a pile of bones.

The pre-sale estimate was a mere $8M.

I wish every big tournaments market was like this. I have basically disagreed with most of the major prices. One of them thats bitter sweet. Your happy your book is zinging but wish you would have trusted your judgement with more gusto.

Like i backed Iga at 50 s with decent stakes and bits and bobs lower but wish i would have gone heavier just before the halep match started as she drifted back out to 30s from low 20s

I think you want Kenin to win this if you're on Iga outright.

Well Halep was a big favourite I suppise and I didnt see it playing out actually as well as it has.
