I thought about vulturing Timofeeva to get a point today, but decided against it. But she would have been fair game until she won the match point today and it would have meant a free point for whoever had picked her.
Anyway, you can still pick her, but just not get any points for her first title since that has now already happened. Edy with some chances at points tonight with both Zheng and Michelsen (ATP) going for their first titles tonight.

I'm coming for Journeyman's and your wigs.

I'm just 3 Mirra Slams from winning though. She has a good chance to get her 1st point today.
| |
|
By:
*this week
| |
|
By:
yeah. you've already won the whole thing unless Queenwen beats Mirra to the slams
| |
|
By:
I officially select Clervie Ngounoue, mmmkay? she just beat Anna Blinkanditsova at WTA Washington
| |
|
By:
you've already made two picks this year,
wisewords • February 8, 2023 4:07 PM GMT I officially select Sofia Costoulas. wisewords • March 19, 2023 4:14 PM GMT I officially select Priska Madelyn Nugroho But if no-one else picks her for the rest of the year, she's pickable for you in 2024.
|
By:
but edy tricked me into picking Priska?
| |
|
By:
I unofficially select Clervie Ngounoue because edy is a bleep bleep bleep!

I didn't do anything other than
By edy on 19 Mar 23 16:25 Hey SaMeBe, flag Priska! Don't blame me if you take that as reason to pick her. When I said By edy on 21 Mar 23 21:15 I still can't believe that you, wisewords, flagged Priska instead of the supertalented supertalent [Clervie] that is still avaiable. you wrote By wisewords on 21 Mar 23 21:17 I don't do flag research, I just do silly picks and stuff so it's really all on you.
|
By:
I didn't write "I get tricked into making picks and stuff"
| |
|
By:
you're such a bleep bleep bleep!!!!
| |
|
By:
I've also been a victim of this, but in reverse.
He kept spamming me about Marcinko, who I think has a bright future now, but at the time I thought he was just trying to trick me into picking some no-hoper so I ignored him and then eventually someone else picked her.

I think you should ratify my swap. it will teach edy a valuable life lesson
| |
|
By:
edy actually taught you a valuable life lesson. I don't think you will make this mistake again for the next edition of this. Which will start as soon as Mirra has won the first 3 of her 25 Slams.
| |
|
By:
Will previous picks be re-selectable in the next edition and will they be free for all or will previous owner have initial rights?
| |
|
By:
Players born after a certain year will be. Free for all, sp no initial rights. So let's say Mirra has won her 2 first Slams and is cruising towards her 3rd it might be in your best interest to hold back on making your pick for this edition and keep that secret for yourself for vol 2. I will also most likely set a date for when vol 2 starts and not do like I did with this one where the first people who saw the thread had an advantage.
| |
|
By:
can't wait until Clervie wins multiple slams before Mirra does and the sweet taste of victory!
| |
|
By:
for that to happen you need:
* no-one else to pick her for the rest of 2023 * be the first to pick her in 2024 * to also get 6 pts from Priska Madelyn Nugroho and your other players
|

My assessment is there's at least a 25-30 perecent chance the Prague final doesn't get played tomorrow.
Be ready to make a ruling in that scenario. Would I get half a point for Noskova? I mean I've got edy breathing down my nech here (and he'd be standing on my head if not for Rus)
|
By:
I absolutely despise cancelled finals, but I can not give a full point when a title hasn't been won.
Gut instinct is you get half a point for Noskova should this happen, and then you get the other half point should she win a title later. Thanks for bringing this up.
|
By:
Yeah I can see the sense in that.
Oh well we'll see, hopefully the weather gods relent!

I've already got my hipster 2024 picks ready for New Year!
On a sidenote I hope that all the shennanigans with the Mastermind hasn't affected Efremova/Laki's development.

^
I mean all the media noise about the Halep thing which must be distracting to players that go to the academy. I doubt he's done anything wrong. But the social media storm can't be helpful to the development of young players.

Good pick (I'm not going to moan about 250 qualies).
Wisewords can now relax a bit ![]()

From the above list, players outside the top 300 that I think break the top 100 in 2024.
T.Preston (Currently 317, impressive and needs to capitalise when things move down under) N.Bartunkova (Currently 333, yup this is nailed on) V.Mboko (Currently 389, the Canadian Serena williams if she can avoid injury) R.Jamrichova (Currently 651, tentative based on her plans for the year but super talent) Emma is a jawdropping 279 so will shortly be outside the top 300 but is obviously a top 100 quality player.
