I don't think it's the fines though, I think it's keeping good steed with the local council. Look at how Wimbledon is run, they aren't about upsetting people, they are about doing everything the "proper" way.
I imagine they could actually get out of the fines by entering some kind of agreement if they wished, but they don't want to, as Wimbledon is a day tournament, they don't want to run night sessions, they don't want to be playing at midnight as a principle. |

yeah, arrong's idea sounds better.

I find it hard to believe the locals would even be bothered by a 1 off occurrence given the overall upheaval caused by Wimbledon in the local area anyway. Is 1 massive overrun into the early hours once in a blue moon really going to make the locals seethe that much?

shouldn't Wimbledoners be happy the tennis tournament put the place on the map? Doesn't that contribute to the prestige of that area?

HawkEye another invention that come about because of scandal causing change. The USO 2004 where Serena got massively robbed about 3 times drove this change.

plenty of social housing in Wimbledon, it's a bit like Hampstead, 5-10 million pound homes in one street turn the corner and cross the road and you're in a council estate.

I can understand not liking it that much. In terms of you always think having these things on your doorstep is better than it actually is if you're in their shoes. And it does put a lot of people in the local area, but not like you don't know when you buy into the area anyway, everyone knows about Wimbledon.

But I imagine margins are so small I would put very little into any of it and just go on who you expect to win off who looks better.
