Yes, but the top players aren't agreeing to that either. It's the early rounds where best of 5 favours them the most. As against each other the benefit comes less.

players that won a bunch of bo3 slams wouldn't hold the same weight in the record books compared to the bo5 ones imo

Eventually yes Caramba. It's very hard to work out Zverev right now as to me there's more to it than it's 5 set matches. He never actually plays well at grand slams. I feel like the only time I've really watched him at a grand slam and thought he looks impressive was that 5 set loss to Nadal where he did run out of gas. Right now I'm not sure gas is his problem anymore, it's something else.

what tf would be the point in changing bo5 to bo3
what you would have then is just another regular tour event with a couple of extra matches, and those 2 extra slam matches will have days breaks in between, you would also get a lot more upsets and lesser talented players going all out in 2 sets and resulting in much poorer 2nd week of slams as well as ruining history, how exactly could you ever compare modern slam winners to those of the past when it goes bo5 to bo3. bo5 separates the wheat from the chaff so we get the semi's and finals a slam deserves. |

But I'd like to know what happens to Zverev. 2 straight years he has looked very good going into the French Open then just much worse at the French Open, that's not a best of 5 thing, he's just looked a much worse tennis player.

Zverev is just a glorified servebot overhyped by the infacatuated media with his apparent looks and charm, they are just looking for the next superstar to replace the golden generation.
When really what has he done? nothing in slams, beat an injured fed in Cincy final, a well out of sorts Novak in a Rome final and not much else. |

No as the top players are likely to always be against it. Unless you are somehow a supremely unfit top player (impossible these days imo), best of 5 will always benefit the top players, as the protection it gives vs an upset vs best of 3 is a noticeable difference.
