In last few seasons AO has been the fastest major. I would expect it the same. But fastest major still only = medium pace court. But it's not slow stuff anyway.

cool. thanks. coco should destroy vinci brutally then

Wertheim picked that as his "R1 upset". I assume CoCo is fav though?

upset? he picked vinci to defeat coco?

Vinci beat Serena at USO so according to some mugs a win over Vinci will always be an upset.
I like Destanee's odds against Barthel. |
By:
I thought that too Caramba, but I did just pick Barthel in my draw.
I have Svitolina making the final, is it time to start again? My semi's are Muguruza vs Svitolina and Serena vs Radwanska. |

I thought that too Caramba, but I did just pick Barthel in my draw. fill in the draw not a comp where picking dogs is rewarded so it makes sense to go with the fave. |

I thought the price on Barthel looked crazy when I saw it like yesterday.
By:
I have some total mess QF's:
Kerber vs Muguruza Svitolina vs Venus Konjuh vs Radwanska Serena vs Cibulkova Wonder how many of these happen. And Konjuh owned Radwanska at USO, and should have beaten her at Wimbledon too, so maybe I should have picked her for semi's. |
By:
It's not like Destanee was exposed in that loss against Sveta either. She put up a decent fight.
By:
I didn't put much thought in it though. Was just clicking buttons for a rough guide on what I think could happen.
Halep's draw is so good tbh despite the fact I have her flopping. This is a huge chance for her to make another slam run looking at her draw. |
By:
It's really surprising she's been on the drift to me given her draw. The seeds in her section are pretty much all the weakest seeds or ones that have shown no form in ages. Puig, Bertens, Venus on way to QF. There's no what I'd call dangerous floaters in that section too. Even Kuznetsova is one of the weaker top 8 seeds most likely (there are a few form players there so I doubt she makes QF though). And being in the top half seems far better than the bottom half.
By:
The little I saw in Halep's match against Sini (final 3 games or so), it was Sini goating rather than Simona mugging. Simona mugging at a Slam is always a concern of course, but at least this time MLB is on the opposite of the draw

By:
Her mentality is a big concern in any match that the going gets tough (which is bound to be at some point) these days.
By:
Siniakova could do big things here. I have her upsetting Kuz. Making R4 anyway. That is the right section if you want to make a big run though. The big seeds are most vulnerable in that section.
By:
Despite Julia's 7-1 record at Aussie Open R1's, I think Sini 1.85 is very good odds.
By:
Remember when everyone of this forum was on the Halep will win slam bandwagon 3 years ago, don't hear that so much anymore.
By:
is Siniakova a good one ?
By:
Hard to judge someone's mentality until they are tested at that level. Halep looked dead cert to win a grand slam around that time she lost to Sharapova at RG.
By:
I've just the bracketchallenge you just posted n88, I don't even think their exactly the same picks as I did for the ones aaron posted
Some are too 50/50 |

The scrapping or complete restructuring of the troublesome, bottom-tier Futures level of tennis events is a likely result of the current inquiry being carried out into the sport's integrity.
There could also be a dramatic reduction in the number of officially world ranked players as tennis tries to root out openings for corruption in the lowest echelon of the professional game. These are among the expected outcomes from the independent review of match-fixing, which is due to produce an interim report before the main summer season gets underway. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/tennis/article-4122638/Futures-tour-axed-match-fixing-fallout-independent-inquiry-integrity-tennis.html?ITO=1490&ns_mchannel=rss&ns_campaign=1490 , |

Among the solutions being discussed is the effective abolition of the present Futures system. An idea which has gained plenty of support is to only award ranking points to the winners, or just the finalists, at tournaments whose total prize money can currently be as small as $10,000.
This would have the effect of dramatically slashing the number of world ranked players. Currently there are more than 2,000 on the computer, but that number could reduce to more like 500, a level which comes closer to the proper definition of a professional. It is hoped that would reduce the attraction of betting on the vast number of smaller tournaments, which have proved so difficult to police. One system that may emerge is that the Futures become more of a required 'passport' to competing in the next tier up of Challenger events, which can offer more generous prize money and be easier to supervise. |
By:
Don't see that will work Aaron. Players have to start somewhere.
By:
Would it do that?
By:
Just advertise it as tennis with a little bit of fixing as a selling point for the futures tour.

Pliskova getting picked en masse. Entire Tennis Channel studio picked her. I think she has most picks I've seen in things by a mile.
