For anyone rich/big banked there's a backer of UK around 48 who wants some action I think.
By:
As crazy as the UK's pick looks, it could actually go either way. I can see it being god awful, but there's also a chance it is amazing
I wouldn't lay at 48s personally |
By:
I do love synths though
By:
If I was extremely rich I'd lay it at 480s personally, even without knowing the song, but my bank cannot afford to tie up too much once again!

Actually the Howard Jones reference from GB was fairly spot on from GB earlier - except not quite as good of course.
But even Howard Jones would probably finish near last in the modern day ESC, combined with the usual UK voting strength. |
By:
Wor Howard would have hosed up mid eighties, say after the first album with like to get to know you well or summat.
I've probably gone too far in Howard Jones chat now |
By:
Yes, time travel would be fun GB, we just need some Nik Kershaw references for the full deal IMO - but sadly we are in 2026 where there's f0ck all chance we get enough votes for this style of music from the ESC votes.

I dutched Finland and Denmark at combined odds of 8/1. Both seem like they could do well with televotes and jury. Interesting to see how Finland will look and sound live without the violinist performing with him (assuming they prevail, tuka tuka certainly could do a KAJ and I think would be a player in the main show still too).

Sorry, she will be there, but it will be pre recorded, as instruments aren't allowed live.
By:
Ah yes, got you
By:
That gives it a strength to some extent - the strings are excellent and pre recorded will sound good for sure.
Interestingly could be year of the violin with Rybak of course performing with his too I'm sure. |
By:
Yeah, I think it will sound epic. I was just pondering from a jury point of view really.
The Greek entry is interesting. I think it's awful but there's serious hype online, love for him and Greece, and younger jurors. Cha Cha Cha and Espresso Macchiatto both topped the votes, aside from the Israel stuff. |
By:
I actually think it's a half decent year for songs overall - which makes me downgrade the usual gimmick act this year, which is Greece.

To me it sounds like it was written in 10 seconds by an AI bot.

All be it with 2 beats left it seems Felicia is in a great position to be representing Sweden with an EDM masterpiece My System. Absolute banger !

Just noticed Luxembourg also of course - violin fest this year! |

Finland into 3/1. Denmark into 6/1. We're looking good, fellas.

It's weird, Finland shortening up (although I do understand because now Linda x Pete is confirmed), but it was much worse than I imagined.
Nearer to the worst-case scenario than the best-case, and I do worry about the public vote more now. I guess people just don't really pay attention to what's going on. Kind of free money to get in early on these markets. |
By:
I thought it was very good live, even though it was never going to be the recorded version, and striking enough to be a clear winner at ESC, and plenty songs have been worse and won ESC. There's 0 chance it will not stand out clearly for both TV and Juries from here - whether that makes it overall winner remains to be seen, but I'm sure it goes very close from here.
The main thing was to avoid the moronic choice that finished 2nd, and seemed a danger in the voting, but it got smashed by the winner's TV who destroyed the field there. Personally I thought the girl singer (who finished 5th/3rd with juries) was the best of the night. But it didn't sit with the TVs. |
By:
Yeah, I guess I just had super high expectations, as it's kind of impossible for it to be bad (seeing as he can sing, etc.). The other "threat" was never a threat, although I understand some would wait before laying big money on Finland.

Lifter, interesting you highlight that aspect - look at the size of it's TV here though, absolutely slaughtered the field. I'd be more worried about the juries personally, though I still think it does well with them too. |
By:
Yeah, I just think juries tend to be easier to predict. This getting over 200 jury points should be around 1.10 IMO. Whereas there is a greater chance of a "flop" with a public vote. I don't think that will happen here, but I did think there was a lack of connection last night that opens the door to it.
By:
The 'connection' point is interesting - but to me feels similar question to Austria last time, and that did very well by standing out in the TV.
It's basically going to be one of the standout parts of the whole ESC show, wherever it appears. There's still time for another to overtake it though, so not a cert just yet. I'd price it around where it is the 11/4 - 3/1 kind of range, so prob not a lot of value backing it now. |
By:
TBF Austria did slip slightly in TV, so maybe an issue to consider, but I'd argue it was not as big a 'standout' performance for the general viewers as this current one could be.
By:
Australia and the brilliant Delta should do very well with the jury.
By:
Ah yes, Austria is a great example. Could see a similar score/result for Finland as things stand.
By:
Pete was a bit poorly and staging always improves from UMK. I thought it was great given how well it scored given there's going to be improvement. I got even more on as the others on Super Saturday showed no real threat.
Austria path to glory seems very viable as I don't think it's public vote will transfer as well as Kaaraja as Pete is already a big star in Finland. |
By:
I wish the side markets were up and there was good liquidity as there's a few very nice opportunities lurking.
By:
Their up now. Imagine liquidity will be very poor for a while though.

Nice to see them up early though, they have some time to get moving.

Greece out to 13/1. RIP 4/1 backers. Blows my mind
By:
I'd have it a clear lay even at 13/1 let alone 4/1, bonkers. But who's complaining if people want to back it.
By:
Greece could top the vote, outside of Israel (assuming they heavily advertise for votes again), and could do better than expected with the jurors now there's 2 younger ones in each set. It's got a good message too. I have been tempted at the prices to get involved.
I'm heavily on Finland and Denmark and got what I could on Australia 20-40 after it dropped and some very big prices Cyprus. France are going with Monroe whose going to be singing a fun mix of pop, urban and classical song, similar to Austria's winning song sung by JJ last year. She's an exceptional vocalist www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVus6pAulfE so will be interesting to listen to the song when it drops. |
By:
I wouldn't lay it is some of the place markets, for those reasons you've stated above.
But winning is a different matter - any serious weakness in voting will mean it cannot win, and I'd say it's almost cert to have some jury vote weakness (despite the younger jurors, who might actually be against it musically in any case). |
By:
Greece, that was referring to.
By:
Bulgaria is now my fav. For non-musical reasons.
