Obviously but he was a stand in, so not part of the original script. Also like you stated, it's not ideal to start week 1 miles ahead of everyone, back then 'we' used to think they would try to make the show look competitive, and level the field a bit. But stopped doing that from Kelvin's year really.

Joe was a good runner, made me plenty, but a bit of a wet lettuce. Stacey was one of the best female runners they've ever had, paired with one of the most reliable pros. Obviously everything has its own context and there is most definitely no Stacey Dooley in this field.

The framing of George being a competitor to Lewis but still behind him is not accident, a transparent scripted narrative given to the panel. Actually I'd say this year the prods have made a deliberate attempt to surface the ringers to the public.

But George got better treatment than Lewis tonight (week2), and arguably in week 1. He's got no room to grow from here.

If you're a gambler. Not a viewer/voter. I feel like Lewis has got little chance anyway, just making up the numbers and will be adding quality to the final. The perfect scenario for the prods, they can guarantee a strong male performance without threatening the preferred winner.

As stated, the wealth warning of producer power is what would still give one a note of caution. However, everything that has happened so far shows favour. Doubt they are creating a monster on purpose and end up splattered with egg, a la Jay. Personally I don't feel like the old rules apply, front runners/market jollies have won recent series and they've shown no inclination to level things up from the viewers' perspective. Seems to have correlated with the departure of Len, who liked a bet.

The series Hamza won, they clearly wanted Helen to pip him at the post but failed. Be interesting to see how the next few weeks play out. I fully believe they favour the winner on the tour and won't want George running away with it early doors. Besides for all we know Vicky's Geordie support is winning the opening weeks.

I've always bet with my instinct and it's served me pretty well. George hits the bullseye for this audience, there's no obvious reason why they would stop him (unless they just had to have a female at any cost, like the female clean sweep year), and everything on the show so far looks like support. No doubt he is due a wobble or two, perhaps scripted, but even this week's song choice looks like further support to me. But he is 6/4 now, with the risk of injury over the next two months and incurring the wrath of the production team at some point, it's about right.
Unusually there was a decent elimination market opportunity last week, so I plan to be maintaining my interest in the weekly shows for the time being. |

Showed he'll have absolutely no problem with fast latin, actually should be a positive. Plus setting up the 'needing to please' Craig narrative, and scripted judges' ding dong. VT obviously reality gravy. What can stop him (barring injury?). I suppose being picky, one wouldn't want them going down the kiddie line every single week from here.

Used up one of the most impactful dances on a split panel of criticism and bickering. A 6 from Craig? Fair play if you see that as positive. Horrendously short odds at this point, and tonight was a gentle reminder of how quick the prods will put the breaks on when it suits. No way did he want a that song/performance for movie week.

Doesn't really work that way, if Craig's comments and scoring is out of line with what people just saw, it's a vote motivator. For the chosen ones it's a 'moment' when he is flipped onside. The other three judges are much of a muchness.
