They haven't released the Sanremo songs yet have they? For the following heats?
I'm watching Heat 1 atm and, as usual, it's just a tedious stream of dull ballads. |
By:
Tonight was the first night, so that is their Sanremo songs. Half repeat it tomorrow, the other half the day after, and it's only the 4th night where they do a non Sanremo song, before the fifth and finals night where they do their Sanremo songs again, and again for the top 5.

OK thanks, that's great, no need to watch any more of this pointless Italian competition.

The final one, number 29, the best of the night.

The Kolors are cool. I personally really like Olly's song, but he's been an artist I've liked for a while, so probably slightly bias.
By:
I was a bit dissapointed with Olly's song and couldn't work out why it was the fav. However, he has the voice and "the look" so I can appreciate he will have a lot of fans

I backed Simone as I believe last night it would have won a combined telephone and jury vote. Hopefully that translates still on Saturday.

It's funny that both Finland and Malta have a song title that is a sexual reference but neither one is in their home language. Very clever.

.... and on this the 69th Eurovision Song Contest. There must be a higher power at play here. We know our gods have a sense of humour.

Built up a sizeable position on Portugal due to Josh, but I fear Fernando Daniel will win the NF, argh. I'd go in pretty heavy on Portugal at 14/1 if I knew Josh was the selection, so going in heavier at these odds is tempting

By:
France is my second-highest green. A very risky year for me, but can't see where the winner is from the available songs
By:
From available songs: Finland. With Estonia and Czechia snapping at her heels if they have decent staging.

Wow great stuff from Athena. She has to represent Armenia
By:
A million times better than her 2020 song. (I didn't follow that ESC, the cancelled one).
By:
Parg "Survivor" wins Armenia. He was the best, just not the most original imo.

Market continues to shorten Sweden. People thinking Mans, if selected, can do a Loreen.
What do you make of Israel? I like the song, very powerful, great vocals and as a survivor of the massacre you'd think it could poll very well like last years entrant. Market seems very confident it will either not get the votes or the judges will scupper it. Given it seems a weaker year, where is this confidence coming from? (it was backed into 4.0 and now out to 16.0) |
By:
Have they shown the Israeli song, where is it?
By:
Sorry, my mistake. The song itself isn't out until 9th March. Just the singer Yuval Raphael has been selected, who is very talented (www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1pV-8Asjok), and the same songwriter as last year's entry Hurricane.

You can put a line through nearly the whole field. All hopes on Portugal, France, and Mans.

Do you not rate Czech's song Lifter? It's my favourite song so far

Out of interest, anyone know why you can't bet on the Portugal National Selection, Festival da Canção, here?
By:
Hmm true. There could be one or two that jump out. Lithuania is decent, I think. There is lots of support for it in the community, and it could do well with Juries. Not a "eurovision song," though. I think that the hidden gem is Josh with Portugal. Have you heard it?
By:
Tristeza, I think it's brilliant.

By:
I wonder if releasing last as Louane is, has an advantage. Late hype and momentum going into the finals perhaps. Obviously the song has to be good enough, but I wonder if the late release gives it an added boost.
By:
Great to hear! Yeah I really think they might have something special with Louane. She wouldn't enter without something great, IMO. Plus releasing it live in the stadium means it must be pretty anthemic. But yeah, you could be right. I remember last year they released Slimane like seven months before lol and people kind of forgot it. Not sure how much that helps int he final, though
By:
Slimane was my favourite last year, what a voice, but in the community it definitely didn't get much love by the end. Be interesting to see the % of viewers who are listening to songs for the first time from the semi finals and finals onwards.
By:
And % of voters as I assume those in the community are more likely to vote.

Just popping in to say hi
I'm a newbie at ESC, last year was my first proper try at it, won a few £hundred (Isreal was never going to win unless mosad got involved, Ireland was going to make top 5 or 6 I can't remember) it was the First time I spent the week paying proper attention, and I got hooked on the betting opportunities. This year, I'm still a newbie, but I plan to be going in with more than recreational munies. Part of my strategy is to do what most scientists do: "Stand on the shoulders of Giants" You are the giants I speak of. I would like to thank you in advance for the insights you share, It's still up to me to try to sort the wheat from the chaff. Tipping my hat in respect to those who backed and tipped Switzerland at such huge prices last year. G'luck |
By:
Welcome mate! You may be a newbie, but you still have a pair of ears, so please do share any thoughts

Israeli song has been approved by EBU

A possible "Israeli leak" for you all. What do you think?

Some say AI or summat but it's actually not bad. Maybe we should let AI run next year's ESC.
By:
Confirmed AI, but yeah, that's what I was thinking haha it's decent
By:
Just seen this on Twitter. Could be a lie, but it kind of sounds legit? Unless another AI. I mean, it is awful IMO - https://x.com/NotSteal2/status/1891609338155880532
