Just spent last couple of days catching up with all of this. Able to follow every day now. Xiting.

ESC - the biggest of all the specials stuff by far.

Nice to have another forumite joining in on the fun!

I really can't see where the winner comes from at the moment. All sons in NFs are dire, so we need a big internal section song. I can put a line through nearly every country. Hmmm...
I blindly backed France at 27s, but only got about £14 matched before their price crashed on the back of them selecting Louane. Now, she is a huge star and should get big jury points, but I can't see her typical song doing well at Eurovision. With nothing else to go at, 13/1 for the potential of her song being decent could be fair. Then you have Sweden - Mans should win and represent Sweden, and I can't imagine him trying again with a song he doesn't think could win. |

ADONXS - Kiss Kiss Goodbye (Acoustic Version) Czechia's entry, just aired for the first time, during Malta SF1. Nice.

I have a don't lay attitude to Sweden but I'm never that hopeful they'll come up with something. They're kind of a default winner if there's nothing else.
By:
Just listing to ADONXS now - pretty good. My favorite song so far. Not quite enough to win, but it's early days and there is something to work with.

Nibbled at 34s and waiting to be matched on France.

Another I like with potential - while we are on male ballads is JOSH – Tristeza for Portugal

Josh's song is beautiful but it should be in English, if so it would be a contender. I'm amazed so many countries never learn that.
Czechia just after he sang was 85, then my pc crashed, but got all 50-80 after reboot. 842GBP appeared on 34 waiting to back Czechia, then moved up to 42, now gone. I wonder what that was all about. 974 waiting to back France at 12.5. She hasn't even got a song yet. You're waiting on France. To lay off? |
By:
OK she's got a song. And the 974 backer thinks it's really good.

By:
The field is weak, and she is the star of the show. I think any good song with a likelihood to win goes 3/1 instantly, and I think the chances of her having that song are probably around 30-50%, so yeah
By:
It will be sung on the 15th of March at the Stade de France, during France - Scotland XI Nations. So we have a while to wait.
By:
I like the cut of your jib Lifter. Risky on France but if she's releasing it at the Six Nations they must think it's good. Anthemic maybe.

Snippets are out for Sweden's heat 2. Klara sounds great - https://www.svtplay.se/video/8Eq3qxn/melodifestivalen-tjuvlyssna-pa-latarna/4-klara-hammarstrom-on-and-on-and-on?video=visa

Nomi's song also interesting - https://www.svtplay.se/video/jMyVyBE/melodifestivalen-tjuvlyssna-pa-latarna/1-nomi-tales-funniest-thing?video=visa
By:
Yes those 2 will win that MF. Klara beating Nomi on wiwi poll. More interesting if it were the other way around. Klara's minute ends well but a lot of dross before that.
What do you think of Tommy, Estonia? |
By:
Full songs are up. I like Klara's even more, and pretty sure that's a nailed top 3 result if it gets chosen. Likely to be Mans though lol

Depends on staging, everybody said they would bury Netta.

But I agree about Sweden.

There's a lot of hate toward the UK's selection. It's an unknown girl band with a theatrical background, so yeah it doesn't inspire confidence, but could there possibly be value here? They can clearly sing well live and have great harmonies, so a good jury score could be on the cards. I'll nibble those 40/1 prices

Ireland just picked one that could be a runner. I can't believe I backed an Irish entry sung by a Norwegian girl singing about a Russian dog who died in space
It is very catchy though. |

Ireland “Laika Party” 1st with public, 1st with national jury and 2nd with international jury. Good for Ireland getting close to ESC system. It was also up against good competition.
By:
It has potential, but they really need to nail the staging and her vocals seem shaky
By:
2200 was waiting to back Finland a minute ago. Taken down when Erika lost the lead. Probably regain it with the public vote. LPM 16.
By:
Not me this time, ha. Don't understand the Erika hype to be honest. Backed some Portugal as I think if Josh wins, then it can win the jury vote (English or not).
By:
Also, looks like Klara isn't going to win Melfest. So need Mans to save the day.
By:
Erika wins.
By:
MF heats 3,4,5 to go, likely to be more good stuff.

Large lumps trying to back Erica, Finland gone away.

"Backed some Portugal as I think if Josh wins, then it can win the jury vote (English or not)."
I think JOSH would be a great contender for Portugal but word of caution as he hasn't won Festival da Canção yet, inexplicably imo: Fernando Daniel – Medo 304K YT views JOSH – Tristeza 168K YT views Fernando Daniel – Medo 1007 wiwi poll votes JOSH – Tristeza 546 wiwi poll votes |

By:
Thanks, Henry. Yeah, it is a bit of risk at this stage. I can just imagine him trading at 12s once the wider betting public sees it live
but yeah, maybe he doesn't even qualify or the vocals aren't as good |

Watched the Sanremo favs, and yeah, Italy aren't winning this year
