Can't you just have an endurance race where if you get lapped you're out?
By:
i'll put it forward for consideration

just watched 2nd race of quarter final, absolutely breezed past her
By:
Semi might not be the formality i thought it was gonna be, Wouw did win the silver in the Kierin...coming late to push Emma into bronze position. ah well even more motivation i guess to beat her
By:
i've not watched every second of the velodrome but i've not heard one mention of Emma winning 3 medals being record breaking or matching Rands 3 at one games. There was plenty of chatter about the 3 golds before she got the bronze, being a 1st if it happened.
i do wonder if the beeb or anyone realises how close she is to achieving something really special, my guess is if its not been mentioned or hyped up its a good reason why the market is not bothered either. if she gets the gold or even silver to match Rand i do feel, eventually it will sink in to everyone and the market what she's done is really quite remarkable. gotta get through that semi 1st though |
By:
ffs i got that wrong, Emma has andrews in the semi..who qualified 3rd and won the keirin so its a real challenge for her.
By:
Mugging us off again ;-)
By:
But it does mean she's hot fav if the semi goes well
By:
yeah if Wouw beats the german i guess so, as she's 10/1 outsider. Emma was hot fav at 3/5 at one time, now joint fav with the german.
andrews a 4/1 shot. market suggests a repeat of the world final |
By:
Emma has looked might impressive till this point, so hoping she has there measure...its quite tactical stuff and she's pretty dam good at it
By:
Seems more her thing than the kirin
By:
tbh from a logical point of view, all 4 have competed in the same events and appeared to all have raced the maximum amount of times in each event i think lol.
The fraction are so minute, that it could come down to who's fittest/got the most energy left. Emma the youngest at 21, the rest are 24, 24 and 26 if that has any bearing at all. |
By:
yeah you'd think both events being sprints were the same but does appear they are quite different in reality
By:
Emma also beat the german in the euro champs january this year in the final, so does seem to have her measure.
By:
world, european and olympic champion would have a lovely ring to it on spoty finals night
By:
2022 commonwealth andrews did win gold but they never crossed paths, avoiding each other in the semi's with emma going out and getting bronze.
but in the qualifying heat emma had the quicker time as she did here as well, emma has improved massively in those two years. andrews probably not so much. overall i think emma only misses out on gold if she's simply to tired, compared to the others. all fractions but i think she has the measure of the field if all race to there best. |
By:
Wouw 1-0 up v the german
By:
andrews way to good, emma big trouble

By:
game over, into the bronze race
pants |
By:
You can put all your efforts into ramping the chubster now
![]() |
By:
yep that was always plan a until kenny and hoy sucked me in
![]() |
By:
I heard Kenny say we'd win 8 golds on the track
Puts your ramping to shame army ![]() |
By:
lol fig
By:
Laura now mentions 3 medals at one games by a british woman lol and gets it wrong by saying no one has done it
poor Rand ![]() |
By:
feck me we know who backed Emma into 4's now
![]() ![]() |
By:
in a very very poor year for possible noms, 3 might be enough to get a nom. would seem very harsh though to the lesser knowns who got individual golds
By:
Wouw done an extra race so you'd think the bronze is a cert
By:
looks a cert for bronze now, i think 3 medals will get her nommed for doing it in modern times
By:
3 medals, current world/euro champ probably a cert for a nom tbh
By:
ooooh she got a mention for the 1st british woman to get 3 medals on the track lol
By:
thats the selling the point for spoty
![]() |
By:
Are you still a spoty backer for the win army - would be a first I think for someone not winning a gold to win it.
By:
Individual I mean
By:
holding all my tickets for sure stu, if last year is anything to go by..then why not.
her achievements are still amazing at her age on debut, current world/euro helps with a great personality she has a slim chance of winning with a campaign from wales |
By:
In Olympic year wipes out her chance IMO - another year, yes she'd have a chance still.
By:
the limpics have been such a let down with many of the big guns failing, all you have behind keely and emma are a bunch of unknowns. pidick probably the better known of them.
emma will get ramped massively no doubt but i expect a decent push for emma too in such a quiet year |
By:
your a right plank stu, she is still the most successful british woman at one games in modern times. its now being talked about by laura and bbc presenters. they will jump all over it coz nothing else to talk about.
come spoty night what they gonna talk about it this year sport wise ?? emma littler ?? wtf after that emma a stone cold cert for a nom, i reckon top 3 as well. just a shame she couldn't manage the gold to be right in the mix, but for me she has a punchers chance |
By:
keely littler i meant
By:
Market not being convinced either army - and no need for ad hominem argument either please!
By:
market is clueless as always, being welsh there would be uproar if she is left off the list. were too pc now for that
