favs that price get beat probably 10 times a week in racing and 100's of times across all sports a week.
means f all to me

I'm less impressed by her price, more her achievements and personality to win this, though price suggests majority also thinking that way.

Probably doesn't help that Dutch bloke showed this treble
was perfectly possible.

she's up against a massive unknown in luke, they have to push him and emma otherwise the night will be a borefest. they have both done something as good as keely if not better.
she is a terrible price and a very poor fav, being that short just proves how mugs are still about

i think all 3 have achieved something good

atletic fans will love what keely has done
cycling fans will love what emma has done
darts fan will love what luke has done

The wider public will see the VT's and decide which one has appealed to them the most, luke at 16 losing in final then winning prem league and firing in 9 dart finishes will capture a very large % of the audience imo but its whatever floats your boat and whoever can be bothered to fill out the form.

with so much choice these days what sport is on tv and what sport you can take up, this talk of blue ribbon is outdated for me, i really do believe athletics was but with a young generation here and many oldsters now pushing up daisy's..athletics is fast losing its attraction.
hence keely a complete nobody before the games to most folk

but its whatever floats your boat and whoever can be bothered to fill out the form.

It's also about what audience/voters still bother with this rubbish - same voters who voted for Beth Mead and the other girls. Can't see enough of them being big darts fans.

Athletics record in this has dropped off a cliff, with Mo only recent winner and he didn't win it..was nowhere near winning until his kids mucked about on the interview.

kjt, jess and dina all 3rd. you have to go back to kelly 2004 same event as keely, but that was when it was still in its heyday.
the sport has died a death ever since with the death of older people who were the stalwart fans of it.
4 cycling winners since in a sport that has stayed strong over the years

not saying keely can't win but the sport has lost a massive amount of its core voters in the last 20 years as other sports have caught up and gone past it.

my exact point both footy players, when kelly won they didn't exist. athletics has lost its massive core edge

as i said, her price is solely based on historical value's that are no longer as strong
By:
stu
When: 11 Aug 24 16:58
It's also current values such as supporting the great female achievement of the year.

yeah which is emma's doing something not done for 60 years in across 3 events, not the favs across one not done for 20 years
i know which one most woman will vote for given = VT's

How Emma Finucane battled through self-doubt to become Team GB’s star of the Olympics

The 21-year-old track cyclist became the first British woman in 60 years to win three medals at a single Games

When Chris Hoy and Laura Kenny picked out a British cyclist to watch ahead of the Olympics in Paris, it was worth sitting up and taking notice. After seven brutal days at the Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines National Velodrome and with the pressure of being Team GB’s next great hope, Emma Finucane did not just meet those expectations but surpass them. At her first Olympics, the 21-year-old from Wales became the first British woman in 60 years to win three medals at a single Games.

A final bronze in the women’s sprint was added to gold alongside Katy Marchant and Sophie Capewell in the team sprint earlier this week, as well as another bronze in the keirin. It is a haul that even the greats of British cycling – Laura Kenny, Victoria Pendleton, Elinor Barker and fellow Welsh rider Becky James among them – did not manage, or indeed out of everyone else in Team GB’s contingent in Paris. Finucane’s bronze in the individual sprint made her the most successful British athlete of these Olympics.

There was a hint of disappointment at missing out on a second gold. The reason Finucane was so highly tipped ahead of Paris was because of how she stormed to victory in the women’s sprint at the world championships in Glasgow last year. But the Olympics are exhausting and after seven days of consecutive action in the stuffy heat of the Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines velodrome, she was beaten in the semi-finals by the eventual champion, New Zealand’s Ellesse Andrews.

Finucane responded well to ensure she claimed bronze in the small final, comfortably beating Hetty van de Wouw across both races after outmanoeuvring her Dutch opponent. “It’s like a dream,” she said. “Obviously I would have loved to win that gold medal. But a gold and two bronze is more than I could have dreamed of. I wish I had a book for someone to tell me how to get through an Olympic week. I’ve cried, I’ve had happy tears, I’ve been exhausted. To get up every day and keep fighting. I’m just really proud of myself.”

Finucane won gold in the team sprint alongside Marchant and Capewell earlier this week, smashing the world record in the race against New Zealand to win Britain’s first Olympic women’s sprint title. The manner of individual competition across both the keirin and sprint meant there were endless rounds of qualifiers and heats, victories as well as defeats.

“I’ve learned that emotions aren’t a negative and they mean they’re not weak,” she said. “I’ve cried a lot this week, and it just shows that I’m strong enough to get it out and reset. For me to be able to cry and then get on the track and reset and go again I think that’s really important, to speak to people and let it out. It’s a long week, I’ve been for seven days now, and my mind’s been on a mad one. I’ve just learned a lot about myself that I’ll take forward for the coming years.”

To target medals in three events was ambitious and led to an inner battle within the mind. But it resulted in history: the first British woman to complete a hat-trick since Mary Rand won a gold, silver and a bronze at the Tokyo Olympics in 1964. “My mind was telling me things like, ‘You can’t do it’,” she said. “I’ve dealt with the [outside] pressure pretty good this week. It was more me, like my internal pressure and how I wanted to deliver. My legs were screaming at me, telling me to stop. It’s been many emotions. But I kept on going.”

its funny how she is being called the star of the games by many after they realised what she has achieved, not hearing anything about the fav being the golden girl Confused

i wonder how people, the welsh, the wider public will react when they find out Mary Rand won SPOTY for her 3 medals Mischief

Emma deserves a medal just for what she went though in those 7 days, oh i know just give her the spoty medal Wink

that will be the response after the VT

When: 11 Aug 24 18:18
i will be writing to british cycling, contacting welsh sporting legends and any other body i think will be pivotal in ensuring Emma has a very well organised campaign, so she can be recognised just like Mary Rand was when she won her 3 medals.

2 golds she might have had some chance but as it is she's won no individual gold medal in a sport which is not that competitive whereas athletics is the opposite. very hard to win athletics golds

mary earps caught a ball and won so not bothered

Good job, cos she's now double the price of cav and pidcock. And one of those is a total no hoper.  The other damaged with vote splitting

tbh i'd be more concerned of luke making the list if i was you, there is no doubt at all about emma making it !!
By:

When: 12 Aug 24 11:36
If luke makes the list, he wins though. Your girl struggles to podium.
By:
armagnac
When: 12 Aug 24 12:38
you have to be joking ? emma guaranteed on the list and guaranteed top 3, the welsh alone ensures that brushy.
By:
armagnac
When: 12 Aug 24 13:19
All this talk of not winning an individual gold is complete crap as well, you really think women voters care about those finer details and the welsh certainly won't give two hoots.
The gold she got from the team sprint, when shown on the night will show Emma racing the final lap and bringing it home with a new world record.

Now call me daft but the public are not the brightest bunch and many will credit Emma with getting the gold on her own, not even realising its a team event lol
Even the smart ones will realise Emma was the backbone of that team and ensured gold and the world record.

There is some very smart people on this forum, not being smart at all regarding Emma's chances. I'm 100% confident on the night she will be single figures to win.

You want value ? you want a decent trade ? be smart, not a red wally like brushy
By:

When: 12 Aug 24 13:41
another thing i would add, Emma will get just as much media coverage, interviews as keely if not more. Both decent in front of the camera but emma has the edge for me. she's the history maker twice, 1st woman in 60 years and only athlete at games to medal 3 times.

i didn't take stu's money once, probably 200 layer lol
By:

When: 12 Aug 24 14:09
The layers also taking on Hoy and the Kenny's, only the greatest Olympians of all time that will surely push Emma for spoty as its gets nearer Cool
