That's Cornish. i had one in richmond for about a year, then realised being on the road selling the cards was far more profitable than sitting on my ass.  Now we have over 250 places flogging the cards innit

You learnt summat today army.  As I said, the Tik Tok Brigade is where his support lies.  Would have expected him to do a bit than that on TikTok myself.  They'll be too busy doing their hair and make-up, drinking Prosecco and making silly videos to vote.

Yes sunday, when the whole nation is talking about darts and the world championship. When everyone will once again be reminded of what Littler achieved as a 16 year old, its really gonna affect his chances of winning SPOTY CrazyCrazyCrazy

Considering 4.8 million people tuned into the final only available on Sky/now tv and since Jan 3rd darts has grown exponentially at an astonishing level, where darts leagues have seen new growth for the 1st times in ages and ticket sales are through the roof. I wonder how many more people have become interested since that final was played.

I guess we'll find out on Sunday onwards when everyone is talking about it LaughLaughLaugh

Vote Luke Littler for BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2024

WE’RE backing Luke ‘The Nuke’ Littler to win British sport’s most iconic individual silverware – and he needs your vote!

Warrington Guardian is urging the town to get behind the 17-year-old darts superstar, who is in the reckoning to be crowned BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2024.

The 10-title competition winner in his stunning debut year as a professional player was named on the SPOTY shortlist this week.

Former Padgate Academy student Littler would become the first Warringtonian to win the award should he beat off competition from five other British sporting stars.

oining the Warrington Wolves and Warrington Town FC fan on the shortlist are footballer Jude Bellingham, cricketer Joe Root, Paralympic legend Dame Sarah Storey and two Team GB gold medalists from the summer’s Olympic Games in triathlete Alex Yee and 800m star Keely Hodgkinson.

It is the Team GB golden girl from Leigh, who became 800m Olympic champion in Paris during the summer, who is odds-on favourite to take home the famous trophy but Littler is Hodgkinson's closest rival according to bookmakers.

And this is where hometown support for ‘The Nuke’ could make all the difference.

The winner will be decided by a public vote during the ceremony, which will be shown live on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Tuesday, December 17.

Voting will be available by phone, the BBC Sport app or via the BBC Sport website, with the details announced during the ceremony.

Littler, who now lives in Appleton, could finish the night with two awards, given he is also on a three-person shortlist for Young Sports Personality of the Year, alongside skateboarder Sky Brown and para-swimmer William Ellard.

Tuesday night’s SPOTY ceremony will be just four days before Littler’s World Darts Championship campaign begins against either Ryan Meikle or Fallon Sherrock on Saturday, December 21.

He will be the fourth seed for the tournament at Alexandra Palace and is the bookmakers’ favourite to win the Sid Waddell Trophy after a stunning breakthrough year which saw him reach the final last January on his debut, before losing to world number one Luke Humphries.

Since then, he has picked up more than £1million in prize money and won 10 titles, including the PDC Premier League and the Grand Slam of Darts.

With his amazing achievements at such a young age, Littler is credited for bringing a whole new audience to a sport which is enjoying boom times.

Here's some of the reaction to the Warrington-born darts sensation being nominated for two BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards:

Jaysus, the population of warrington is 211,000 .  That's a decent vote by itself

I'd have said more like 50k like Scarbs.  Serves me right for living in bumpkin backwarers for years

We seen just how the market gives no respect to darts overnight, with Keely getting a review.

While Littler gets massive stories on a daily bases and it brushes them off every single time, nothing new as its been happening all year.

The power of elite sport over throwing darts - This is basically David v Goliath where SPOTY is concerned and we all know how that ended

Its a repeat of the last Olympic's as it goes

David (Emma Raducanu) came from nowhere to win 1 slam and become massive news

She was up against two household names for the award, one who had been established for years in Tom Daley and Adam Peaty won the gold medal in the 100 metre breaststroke at the 2016 Summer Olympics, the first by a male British swimmer in 24 years, and retained the title at the 2020 Summer Olympics in 2021, the first British swimmer ever to retain an Olympic title. The former 1st got on SPOTY in 2009.

Keely is not even a household name Plain

Maybe the split vote didn't help the Olympians verses the flash in the pan, oh Keely has a few of them who are actually household names for that elite vote.

Nothing from MEN on Keely

This is the problem when you're from the big city, we've seen it on xf even

MEN don't even really have a sports section, just pages on City and United.

Warrington seems the perfect size of place for generating a good local vote

Another HUGE negative for Keely is, the Triathlon ends with the run and his dramatic win...running to the winning line, takes an edge of Keely running to the winning line
