SPOY is hypocritical sh!t. Why are the BBC running this lavish nonsense when it's clear they no longer give a damn about covering sport? It's like Hollywood cancelling all film production yet still running the Oscars. Fecking joke programme.

How many regular posters on here? We`ll call it 30
How many irregular posters on here? We`ll call it 30, too How many post, but very rarely, on here? We`ll call it 50 How many lurkers? Plenty So, at a very rough guess, 110 readers, and plenty of lurkers on this mighty fine forum, and YOU are one of them. 110 people who selflessly share their information and (in some cases, at least!) highly informed views. Indeed, as a whole, this select group is probably, pound for pound, amongst the very most successful groups of punters in the world. And YOU are able to benefit from all of this. FOR PHUCKING FREE!!! Instead of being a selfish and ungrateful bast@rd, how about showing just the smallest bit of appreciation for their efforts? We are currently in the `Judging Stage` of the `Specials Forumite Of The Year 2015` So far, only a handful of posters have voted. With voting being suspended tomorrow night, that`s a pitiful number. We all spent hundreds, even thousands of hours on here during 2015, yet YOU can`t think of one good post/thread/train/poster that doesn`t deserve even something as simple as your vote? Come on, play the game! No `reg` can get away without voting, the very absence of your post will be a highly visible slap in the face to all of your friends on here. As you will notice, I`ve posted this on numerous threads, so no `I didn`t know` bollox, thank you very much! 30-odd regs equals 30+ votes, a reasonable sample. So do it. NOW! Yes, and you non-regs. Yes, and you lurkers. DO IT NOW!!! OK, if you can`t do it now, you want to ponder it all, to give due consideration to this weighty decision, vote before tomorrow night, at least! If you can`t be bothered to spend a few minutes to pay for what you received in 2015, you can rev up and PHUCK RIGHT OFF!!!!! Bullet point; Voters = Decent humans . Non-voters = UNGRATEFUL SELFISH BAST@RDS!!!!! |
By:
LAST CHANCE WARNING!!!
The final vote for our, for YOUR! Specials `Forumite Of The Year` is underway, closing tomorrow night. I`ve already got a list of those who, most shamefully, DIDN`T VOTE!!! in the post/thread/train categories. Happy to take full advantage of the wonderful people on here, yet who think themselves above posting ONE single post to show even the slightest appreciation. Is that YOU??? Anyone not voting for their winner of the ultimate accolade will be treated with much contempt, and will INSTANTLY rule themselves ineligible for ANY future FOTY awards. EVER!!! Lurkers and irregulars, I`m talking to YOU as well. As previously established: Voters = Decent humans Non-voters = SELFISH AND UNGRATEFUL BAST@RDS So, which are YOU??? VOTE NOW!!!! NO EXCUSES!!! |

Murray needs someone to break both Djoko's legs to have a chance winning SPOTY this year
![]() |

If he only broke one he would have a small chance.

Laura Trott and Max Whitlock for me at big prices
stats are strong that the winner comes from the Olympics in Olympic year, haven't got the exact number but both my selections have nice personalities as well as talent which generally helps |
By:
Jamie Vardy is by far the most likely winner of SPOTY 2016
Its roy of the rovers stuff for a player to come up from the lower leagues as he has done... and football has more mass appeal than all other sports combined If Leicester wiin the league then he is their leading goal scorer.. its such a feel good story and everyone would be happy if leicester are champions He is now starting to score goals for England and with the Euros coming up he could well be Englands top scorer or even for the whole tourament. everyone knows who Vardy is and he is only going to get more popular. He is still available at 14/1... |
By:
There's a #SPOTY request on twitter asking for support to get BetFair to add a 'Top 10' SPOTY market. If everyone likes and re-tweets the tweet they are likely to take note and add the market which would be good. When the shortlist is 10 persons, it would be fully settled when the shortlist is announced. When the shortlist is 12 persons, it would be partially settled like the 'Winner' and 'Top 3' markets currently are until the final voting results are known. The more people who liek and re-tweet the more likely BF will add a 'Top 10' SPOTY market.
By:
Might help if you linked to the tweet ya daft fecker
![]() ![]() ![]() |
By:
Betfair already get enough grief from RTV betting and, with respect, I think your `10` or `12` and `partial settlement` all sounds a bit complicated, leading to confused muppets complaining to bf. Why not just have `to make the shortlist`, be that 10, 12, or any other number?
By:
vardy and joshua's price has shot in, I can see them being the top 2 fav's for a while yet. anyone else like froome at 40's ish? he's got a great chance at winning 2 tdf's in a row, surely he should be a bit lower?
By:
I think the perception is that he`s not very well liked, unlike Wiggins. Actual achievements are one thing, but being popular is crucial.
By:
good point, still I expect his price to come down a bit before tdf starts which he very well could win 2 years in a row which would boost his chances.
Joshua's got another fight soon, so I want to take his price between leicester winning the premier league and june 25th when his next fight is, the vardy red card might discourage a tiny bit of support for him but probably nothing much. |
By:
The Olympics are the Crown Jewels for the BBC. They will be very keen for an Olympian to win this, not some scruffy oik from Sky. Barring England at least reaching the final, AND Vardy having scored a hat full, he won`t even be short listed; far too likely for a `vote Vardy` campaign to nick the title from one of their Middle England favourites for the BBC to risk it. Without a glorious Euro 2016, he`ll be long forgotten come December, lost amongst a multitude of wonderful Gold Medal performances.
Massive lay, max red. |
By:
Ronnie missing out again of any chance of nomination with his WC loss to Hawkins
By:
Let me get this right; our favorite can`t even get a game for his local squad? Pretty big Hmmmmm....... Huge value, MASSIVE value lay.
By:
at 5.2 though I dont fancy tying too much cash up laying vardy till the end of the year, I dont think he should be fav either. joshua is my frontrunner atm, in all likelihood he'll get another 2 fights at least before the end of the year, probably ko's too, I see value at his current price. I hope murray doesn't get shortlisted for failing to win a GS but winning a gold in mixed doubles or something lol. I still think there's a bit of value on froome even if it's just for a trade if he wins the TDF (currently around 2.5ish to win it) his price should shorten a lot. I gotta think if he wins the race, any olympics gold medals from cycling shouldn't be put ahead of him.
By:
Not a bad value call, razz. Winning the TdF and then Gold did the trick wonderfully for Wiggins. Potential problem, though, is his perceived lack of `likeableness`, having received less than 4% in last year`s SPOTY, and 5% two years prior. Neither he nor Wiggins are British-born, but I feel people see Wiggins as `British`, Froome as `African`. However, we know the cyclistas can be rabid voters and a TdF/Gold double could well be enough to motivate them; mostly from laying others, I have him reasonable green.
By:
A layers rather than backers market for me bar a few daft punts at long odds. No doubt some minority sport will have some campaign and that's all that's needed these days it seems unless there is a big odds on fav.
By:
5.0 fav for SPOTY STILL can`t get a start with his local pub team?
By:
good week for andy
welsh voters getting stuck into hal robson kanu to win goal of the tournament on motd , got to love them |
By:
think he was virtually no offers straight after winning wimbledon 3 years ago. so run of the mill now you can get 6/4
![]() ![]() |
By:
davis cup/olympic left gives him a pretty good chance. and still the possibility of the US open too. froome shortened a bit after he started running up the mountain lol. joshua's drifted surprisingly, maybe due to fury having the more legitimate belts at HW, and his complete lack of chance of winning seems to be hurting joshua's chances also. but AJ still has at least 2 or 3 more fights this year, likely to more cans, so if he can ko them I still think his price is a decent punt. 12's seems a bit long. but understandable with rio coming up.
By:
Boxing is not as popular as it once was, the voting public are not very knowledgeable about relative achievement in the sport, too short if anything.
By:
AJ should be 1000 - the story in boxing is presently Tyson Fury, not Anthony Joshua.
By:
Hey, razz, still got Froome green? Olympics yet to come of course but, with the TdF looking wrapped up, that`s the trading job done; taken my profit.
By:
froome doing the london ride next weekend, seems he is doing the publicity this year
might be worth a look to see if cycling public has taken to him yet ? |
By:
Seems unlikely to me, donny. Think there are a few cyclists who could do well at the Olympics who have more chance of inspiring a stronger public vote than Kenya-born, Monaco-living Froome.

Tremendous performances in Rio from Adam Peaty - his three Rio 100m breaststroke swims were the fastest three 100m breaststroke swims in history!
Peaty is now in the select group of Brits to hold Olympic, World, European and Commonwealth titles in the same event at the same time - and he is the World Record holder in three events! Amazing and for such a down to earth lad - well done Adam! :) |
