The overseas one? Never saw it again. Used my free torygraph views on the laptop and using my phone now. Tried to google it but can't see the poll. The 2014 on is there though and that got Ronaldo right. Carter as high as 9/2?

what price murray when voting closes.
1.3?? rory was 1.15 iirc last year ![]() |
By:
Worse than that, Kimble; I laid a bit of 1.11, and I don`t remember believing that I`d laid the lowest price matched.
By:
Rory wasn't easily leading in the poll that was pure money chasing....I still shudder at how I ballsed that up on the night betting wise.
By:
I wasn`t watching it, I think it might have clashed with SCD?, but all reports suggested the whole show was a Rory Rampathon, perhaps somewhat justifying the money-buyers` optimism.
By:
Petrol heads vote and golf is a minority sport. Poll confirmed that. Bit worried Murray might nick a place despite clearly not deserving it.
By:
As i recall in SPOTY last year Rory was actually announced as the winner on the BBC website at one point in the night
the BBC later apologised for the " glitch " ! |
By:
Wasn't that the annual test run preshow that leads to the annual conspiracy theory?
By:
it was bang i the middle of the show as i remember about half an hour before the winner was announced
could have been a disgruntled BBC employee who wanted to lay Rory on betfair !!! |
By:
It was after vote lines were closed, so made no difference to the result or the market
By:
Just checked, Rory hit 1.09.
By:
Google only goes back to 2011. iirc he did but did McCoy p1ss the torygraph poll like he did the actual result?

To answer my own question looks like it was the Guardian poll back then. Times was phenomenal but don't do one now. For some reason can't find the current Guardian poll. A link anyone?
The point I am looking to make is that the McCoy campaign could be tracked...the Sinfield one can't really. Odds on a place?? George Bailey • December 18, 2010 2:48 PM GMT Yes the guardian is the main one. It is usually very reliable except the cavendish fanatics pile in every year it seems...at least I hope so or at 100s+ he's the bet of all time Laugh Ignoring cav the poll has named top 3 in past 2 years and this year they are: mccoy, ennis, mcdowell. Swann not far behind but I don't fancy him in this now. The times poll was also very accurate (hoy literally spot on to .1% I think). This year they have some twitter poll but you have to subscribe to get results I guess..anyone done this?? I have done some other measures but they are a bit all over the place. Like I said above in any typical year him leading gdn poll would make him fav for me but this year with ramp could be a shoo in..soon find out. |

btw the Jonny Wilkinson Sinfield video has had nearly 58,000 views on facebook. it only takes 10,000 rhinos fans voting 20 times and he's well in the mixer. No poll in the world would pick that up....

how could a poll pick up how motivated people are to pick up the phone multiple times?
By:
what is the point of any poll then? Especially given app voting. It picked up McCoy. I'm not convinced there is an army of Sinfield multi voters out there anyway.
By:
in the case of SPOTY there isn't always a lot of point in the polls - that's my point! I would say that the people who want kev to win realise he doesn't stand a chance unless they spend some dosh on the phone calls. They appear motivated to do this. don't underestimate the power of the multi-vote.
By:
Ironic you say little point in SPOTY polls when they are invariably the most accurate of all specials
By:
Plus as we are guessing I'll guess there will be LOTS of vote motivation and multi voting for Fury. Its become more than just a sports award now.
By:
how were they predicting zara phillips?
By:
No record that far back I think. The Times one was 0.1% out with Hoy and very close with the others iirc. I'd settle for that with every poll. There again there would be no point in betting at 1.01 if they were all like that.
