I decided to watch it- god knows why as its my least fav of all the specials betting shows but I have backed the 'boyband' eachway. I think the clean cut image, what appeared genuinely good voices and the different song type will make them meomorable. the Il Divo type market I believe is actually huge and I think Simon would be crazy not to pursue it.

Hey bex Grin

can't disagree and ultimately you'd have to think they will have wider appeal than Richard & Adam who to me looked like Rob Bryden's younger brothers who still lived at home with their mum.

don't think FLL has come across 80yo Paddy Jones(?) in her skimpies flashing her knicks (as Leon would say) yet

Hi bex....hope things are going well for you.

The boyband just looked to me like 5 kids plucked from the West End theatre pool.

hi Hemsby - Im sure they all have proper singing backgrounds and havent just miraculously become this good in a month since forming. But in the bigger picture I don't thonk it matters that much - a singing act places most if not every year and I thought they were excellent. The first show usually provides the winner and they are the only one from last night with mass appeal IMO.
I'd like them to continue with classical and or/christial themed songs just to keep them down what i see as the chosen path for them
Maybe because Mum and my sisters love IL Divo and i have to fork out for concert tickets and dvd's every birthday/Xmas but I swear I could see the cash registers whirring away as Simon was watching them.

I'm totally with squares, watched the show whilst hating myself for it, thinking can I really go through all this again, hating all their usual cliched sh1t.

Also, what was the point of Amanada using the Golden Buzzer for an act that's nailed on to go through to the semis?

There are two sorts of viewer. Us lot, who KNOW about the shenanigans, and the 98% of the public, who barely believe you when you try to point out the Dark Arts in operation. They would have been lapping up Cowell`s supposed discomfort, especially as he buzzered them. I was laughing too, but at the pure obviousness of it all. We could all have written the script beforehand

Was Subo a plant? Because that seemed one of the more genuine moments on BGT.

I've recorded but not yet watched the show, so apologies I'm not up to speed: Amanda was seen using a 'Golden Buzzer'? Was that during the show or in her dressing room?

Subo had been doing the talent show rounds for years so was probably known to them, although I agree it did seem like a genuine moment/discovery.

I think part of the problem since has been that TPTB are desperate for more SuBo moments and keep trying to create them from nothing.  I've even seen on tellymix/unrtv before it is actually shown headlines saying "XXX has a SuBo moment" which is just rubbish.  It has to seem/feel natural and nothing has even come close to the SuBo moment imo.

Will Young auditioning in an egg stained shirt and going on to win is probably the only time things didn't go quite as planned. I recall Waterman saying they only put him through to the last 50 because they wanted a few more boys in the line up.

SCowell obviously loathed him although iirc he had judged him on some boyband segment on something like TM previously.

Speaking of which, Paddy is on TM (again!) today.

Britain’s Got Talent stars Collabro have teased they plan more hits from musical theatre if they make it through to the semi-finals.

We met the group, made up of Matthew (20) kitchen salesman, Jamie (23) works for the NHS, Tom (24) waiter, Michael (23) sales assistant and Richard (20) labourer, in Saturday night’s opening show.

Despite having the looks of One Direction it was a classic Les Mis track they performed, surprising the judges and leaving the audience on their feet to win their way through to the next round.

And it sounds like if they make it through to the live shows we can expect more of the same.

“We thought about what really gets us going about musical theatre and it’s the five or six part harmonies so it made sense to get together,” the group explained this week. “We feel something special when we sing together. We just get this vibe. In the last few notes of Stars I get goosebumps.”

Speaking to the official BGT website, the boys gushed about Simon Cowell’s praise at the weekend after watching their audition back.

“Saturday night was the first time we had heard Simon say ‘There’s a hit record right there’,” Michael said. “ That’s what we really want – I was thinking quick, get into the studio!

“Simon was the Judge we wanted to impress most. People have compared us to a musical theatre One Direction. Simon shared their journey with them and it would be amazing if he wanted to share our journey too.”

They added of their standing ovation from the panel: “It doesn’t really hit you when all the Judges stand up. We’ve watch them on previous years and they so rarely do it that you can’t believe they are doing it for you. It was overwhelming.”

Interesting that there seems to be an effort to "individualise" these guys - making them identifiable by repeating their names, ages, jobs.

Yep squares and the usual loaded questions from the judges. There's an effort to make them appear everyday people that just happened upon each other. They just weren't very good for me.

Agree there was room for improvement Cider but still see them as the clear leaders so far. There is a bit of a journey as they improve whereas their competitors look to have already shown their hands.

looking ahead to tonight with tellymix (and Walliams' Nan for FLL's benefit):

Britain’s Got Talent 2014 continues tonight with the latest round of auditions and there’s a bit of everything.

We’ll experience everything from magic doves and daredevil motorcyclists to a sexy violinist and BGT’s first ever knife throwing act.

There are also the usual singers and dancers who took to the stage, all in a bid to impress BGT judges David Walliams, Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon and Amanda Holden.

Tonight’s show also sees…

Ant and Dec introducing the latest episode with a special cameo from an ELEPHANT.

One act try to the bring the recorder back into fashion

A small appearance from Team TellyMix on the red carpet!

David Walliams gets up on stage to dance with one auditionee, 64-(and a half)-year-old Azmat.

There’s Britain’s Got Talent’s first – and probably last ever – sawchestra.

One contestant who shares her name with a salad vegetable

A magician that manages to makes Simon not want to actually kill himself

Alesha gets a bit of a crush on one hot hopeful, gushing: “That was absolutely fantastic and it helps that you look fantastic as well… it does!”

Finally, backstage, David Walliams’ nan impresses Simon Cowell after avoiding a soggy bottom.

in advance the show always looks so tempting, but I know after watching it I'll feel pretty much the same as I did after watching "Dogging Tales" the other night.

Speaking of which, a bit much some of the stuff the Goggleboxers had to watch last week (esp with kids in tow and all the family on the sofa).  Wildlife show was pretty graphic plus  Dogging Tales and Embarrassing Bodies.  The amount of sex talk from the Tappers in front of the kids, and Pete, Linda and ?George too.  If it had been like that in my day I would have been hiding behind the sofa.  Shocked

After an initial annoyance with yet another `sob story`, they loved the opera girl. And Paddy, of course.
Yep, Ronan sang `Feeling Good`. It`s on one of those Memory Lane links on the `Show dates` thread.
