Who's so keen for Jonny Wilkinson? £600 at 11.5?
Already won it before - not sure why he should be so short for a career award when he's been in France for the last 5 years? |
|
By:
In 2003 Jonny kicked a last second right-footed drop goal to win the Rugby World Cup for England.
In 2014 Jonny played quite well in a couple of club matches and then retired. |

Check out the same Jonny backer in the Top 3 market too. He's been in both markets for a few weeks now and keeps decreasing his odds with very little getting matched.
Current snapshots of odds after Murray crashing out at Wimbledon in the QFs, England inevitably flopping in the World Cup, Froome 1.97 to win TDF and Hamilton back odds on (1.7) to win the F1 title after winning at Silverstone: Lewis Hamilton.............3.5 - 3.6 Chris Froome...............4 - 4.3 Jonny Wilkinson............11 - 11.5 Carl Froch.................12 - 13 Rory McIlroy...............24 - 30 Mo Farah...................25 - 38 Justin Rose................25 - 75 Lizzy Yarnold..............26 - 75 Lee Westwood...............30 - 75 Gareth Bale................34 - 85 Andy Murray................40 - 55 Katarina Johnson Thompson..48 - 65 Amount matched £58,399 |

The Wilko price is very puzzling - got to the bigger than evens to be nominated surely?
Scope for a campaign potentially if he does make the list, but expect the focus to be on 2015 World Cup and 6 Nations rather than anything else. |

cavendish out of commonwealth games
i dont see johnny wilk getting nominated, but beware insiders |

Froome out of TdeF

3 crashes in two days from a pro cyclist
was he trying to injure himself ? |
|
By:
Topped up on Murray 50.0 with Cavendish and Froome out. Hopefully a few more near the top of the market fall by the wayside soon in British sport's annus horribilis (preferably Hamilton and no British golfer winning The Open)

I really don't get the Wilkinson price at all - OK he helped Toulon win the Heineken Cup but other than that people are backing him expecting a Giggs lifetime award. Well since then the nomination procedure has changed and there has to be a doubt that he would even be nominated. Add to that that Joe Public hasn't seen him on their screens for years and I somehow doubt he has as many fans as Ryan Giggs (Man Utd) then it seems a very odd move snowballed by one big backer??

Eilidh Child ran a great race last night. If she wins Commonwealth games it will be a big story.
|
|
By:
Justin rose now world number 3 .... 2 consecutive wins if he has a good open or Ryder cup even both i think he will go very close to winning
|

Would go shorter, but the record of golfers in SPOTY in recent years is pretty awful
|
|
By:
Taken some Jonno Tommo to add to the 240 I got earlier
Will clearly be the star of the games unless Meaty's tip somehow comes in |
|
By:
Mo Farah doubtful for Commonwealths.
|
|
By:
Everyone's sick of him anyway
|
|
By:
Yes I agree - but he always seems to have his SPOTY fans!
|
|
By:
Never enough, as the Cure once said
I hadn't realised how personable Jonno Tommo was, hence backing her. I knew she was widely predicted to hose up, and potentially set the British record |
|
By:
Jess Mark 2 imo - very votable
|
|
By:
FFS, GB, just spent 10 minutes scrolling up and down looking for someone called Jonno Tommo.

You need more sleep Tim, heard you were up at midday today

A scurrilous lie!

That was before Figgy ffs

For me the c games are likely to arouse lots of 2012 nostalgia and feelings. Winners are likely to have a big plunge as the nation goes slightly crazy, especially if live on bbc1 at good times
KJT looks the most high profile and most nailed on winner, given that Mo went crazy doing marathons Hopefully there'll be a heptathlon market to hedge a little on, but given the talk it looks like she'd be 1.2 |

Heptahlon final events are on a Wednesday evening - hopefully neatly after whatever soaps are on that night...

Sounds good

By:
McDowell better value than Rose @ 100/1 - twice the price for the Open 3/4 x for SPOTY and will get regional vote
|
|
By:
McDowell is one of those golfers who has never really captured the imagination of non golfing fans.
No chance for me. |
|
By:
Agreed, have always thought he was a no hoper
![]() Has Lee fatty failed to even qualify or summat? |
|
By:
Fatty lee is there. 75 to win for anyone who wants to throw their cash down the drain.
I think hems does ![]() |
|
By:
Is McDowell's regional vote from a small island in the middle of the Atlantic?
|
|
By:
It's the same one that fatty Clarke had
![]() |
|
By:
I dunno if you got the joke or not
![]() |
|
By:
Probably not. Is there a top Falkland Island runner going to the CWG or was it a Cavendish reference?
|
|
By:
The Isle of Man moved?
![]() I was just commenting on McDowell's bizarre accent. All my jokes need explanation tbh on here ![]() |
|
By:
Irish Sea, Atlantic, it's all the same to me.
Your Brighton jokes never need explaining ![]() |
|
By:
Nah, you're bound to get all those

When you go up to Scotland Eilidh Child is on every poster advertising the Commonwealth games. lets face it England should win loads of athletics golds in this micky mouse competition. However Scotland only has one chance - Eilidh Child. She is second favourite to win gold I must stress, but she is coming into form at the right time.
