Albania for qualification too. Could get boost from juries due to the lack of representation from the region.
Bulgaria maybe a touch of value too

I see there is £1700 available to be taken at 1.93 on Denmark. Think someone is laying to take a profit and running. I am sure that money will be taken up very quickly by the backers.

With Germany in the first half and Denmark in the second and with their gold special effects ending Denmark look a likely pimp slot for the organisers.

Interesting comments. Especially about Holland.
I wasn't keen on her being amongst the crowd. It was the one thing I didn't like about the staging.
She was rather lost behind the waving flags at times.

_______

I was taken back to late 1983/early 1984 when Slade performed My Oh My on TOTP and the whole crowd were given 'My Oh My' scarves to waves during the song.

Happy days when it seemed the UK had the potential to win this thing every year!

Kept Denmark pretty neutral in my book throughout this process even though I like the song.  Just praying one of my big greens gets a good start in the voting on Saturday.

I always remind myself of Denmark dropping to 2.0 after 2 rounds in 2010 and laying off before Lena powered through like a strain.

Last year gave little to no trading opps.

I've never backed Denmark and unfortunately did lay it, mainly around the mid 2s, but have kept it 2k green. I'm hoping any of the following 10 in the table win instead of it (except Ukraine and Germany atm).

It really is Eurovision-by-numbers, I'm hoping the voters show a bit more flair and originality.

Money for Romania & Malta to qualify. Which is pleasing. As the market moves on the day of the 1st semi were spot on.

That's very much what Loreen & the Australian commentator were saying on the BBC during the 1st semi.
They also said it was wrong to throw confetti at a song until it had won.
ofc it won't effect the public vote but it could well damage Denmark's jury vote

I really like Lithuania for a top 10 finish at 12's. Catchy song and ok the lyrics are hilarious but if Lena can win singing about here new light blue underwear I'm fine with him naming his shoes.

One mental note I made last year after I saw where Lithuania placed in its semi was to back Lithuania this year for qualification. Sadly my brain failed to deliver that note until after the envelope appeared on Tuesday night Laugh

Switzerland have a piss poor qualification record but a little trawl of the stats shows that this set of countries voting tonight is about as good a grouping as they're ever likely to get.  Plenty of the same countries who assisted them to qualify in 2011 are voting tonight.

My £2 potshot at 390 has got some legs after all.....although I'd have got 600+ if I'd waited a bit longer!

Reckon a punt on qualifying tonight is in order, especially after the applecart was turned over on Tuesday and that it's not the closed shop to qualify when odds against that it had been prior to Tuesday

How is Israel so short to qualify? - not exactly full of allies, not especially nice ballad, attractive singer (not).... guess it could get some jury votes, but still no-where near top for that either IMO

I only like Malta & Norway

A little more in depth analysis of the draw.

Looking at the last 11 contests, only 2 winners came from the 1st half, but was this in a large part due to the best song being drawn late?
I am sure Satellite, Fairytale, Euphoria, that Serbian dirge and the Russian guy would have won from a 1st half draw.

So looking at a larger sample and songs that finished top 10, there isn't a huge disparity between a 1st half and a 2nd half draw.

2012 5/5
2011 6/4
2010 4/6
2009 6/4
2008 4/6
2007 3/7
2006 3/7
2005 4/6
2004 6/4
2003 5/5
2002 5/5

Total - 51 top 10 songs were in the 1st half and 59 drawn in the 2nd

So a 2nd half draw is helpful, but I think the market over states it.

Interesting thanks FLL - yes, it's only small as an effect isn't it for Top 10.

Several of those years no effect at all, 1st v 2nd half.
