Malta to qualify leaves any views? Interesting how many non english failures last night though some were of course poor songs. At 1.4 im actually thinking of piling on
By:
not just because of Malta but the weakness of this semi > I hate Finland, dont like Israel etc and they are meant to qualify as well...

and we have JR insights as well for malta ofc...

did you watch RMB and were you impressed?
By:
Didn't watch live. But I've had quite a big fill in the 2.5s, and the crowd seem to acknowledge it's the winning song.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5hn5_YerAQA Couldn't be more impressed. If this doesn't win, I will eat my hat. It's a weak year and this song sticks out, it's very catchy, the staging is sublime. :) |

I was hugely underwhelmed by it

1.4 not the sort of price I play at Bex, but Malta does look a good thing for qualification

Second half draw, Isla Fisher on lead vocals, everyone will be listening out for it, must have done well in the voting because of the price move, it's hard to see anything knocking it off its perch. Can't have the likes of Italy or Holland doing so.
By:
If they had got the first half draw I'd be less enthusiastic, for sure. Maybe the price move was just on the draw alone, I want it to be votes based more!
By:
France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom will draw for their half today. Germany and Italy will be of interest.
By:
Got to think the producers will put Denmark on near the end as well, hopefully after some dirge so we can really appreciate it's greatness

It's hardly great and I'm still far from convinced that women will vote for a woman who looks so seductive.

Haven't really looked at all the songs yet, just the front few in the betting. My personal fav at the moment is Norway. Does anyone know when will the draw for the final be made?
By:
I'm not entirely sure. You will know if she's in the 1st half of the final or 2nd at the press conference after the semi final on Thursday.
I guess they will announce the running order soon after. Germany 2nd rehearsals. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qMhrsWRyJJ4&feature=youtu.be&a Not a great video but sounds awful to me |

Thanks guys. Norway for Top 3 at 2.48 for me up to now!

Cheers RMB.
Spain have drawn 1st half. Must be a reasonable bet for finishing last. Another one of Germany http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CCEDaxS-Aa4&feature=youtu.be&a |

Just caught up watching the first SF.Denmark,Holland and Russia the 3 obvious standouts for me,still can't have Ukraine...the more I listen to it,the less I like it.
I thought the staging for Denmark was the best of the evening, although the singer does look a little manic-eyed at times. Russia has a very pedestrian 1st minute, and then IMO the most impressive final minute. Holland looked like a Top of The Pops performance, with the satellite stage surrounded by the audience.Quite refreshing, following the huge productions which preceded it. The one thing which strikes me about ESC betting in general,is that despite months of analysis and debate, the RO draw has such a huge significance on price fluctuations, that punting on it (thinking OR here) is very difficult. |
By:
Don't talk about the draw Hems
![]() I've been lucky in the past 3 years, so was due a nightmare. Interesting comments. Especially about Holland. I wasn't keen on her being amongst the crowd. It was the one thing I didn't like about the staging. She was rather lost behind the waving flags at times. |
By:
the draw is rather like taking a position on an XF elim and then the act you've backed getting the pimp.
By:
France 1st half fwiw
By:
Yep...a fair analogy Fig.Its just that the ESC is considered by most on here to be the premier event of the year, and to have so much supposedly riding on a random running order draw doesn't personally entice me to get more involved in it,other than a few speculative plays.
As regards the Dutch staging, whilst I found it refreshing,I take your point on board, and perhaps it wasn't ideal. It was just in my mind,it made the most unique song in the contest stand out a little more if anything. |
By:
Possibly. I'd still have preferred her on the main stage and the backdrop more prominent.
It stands out though regardless. I take your point about the draw Hems. It's frustrating when you get unlucky but it levels out over the years and it's perfectly possible to win from an early draw if you stand out enough. |
By:
I am sure Fairytale, Satellite, and Euphoria would have won from any draw.
Running Scared the one that was really helped by the draw |
By:
Looking back, Ukraine won from 10 in 2004 and Turkey from 4 in 2003.
A late draw a clear advantage tho |
By:
2 from 3 of Italy/Ger/UK get a 2nd half draw ? have I got that correct ?
By:
Ger 1st half

33/1 with spoils ew if anyone can get on
By:
Spoils only 1/4 first 3 though
.I was going to have a few quid E/W on Germany if it got a late draw,so that's probably saved me some dough.Hope Georgia get a late draw tomorrow. |
By:
I agree. Not great in a 26 runner race.
Going back to the draw. It wasn't great for me last night but better today with Italy and hopefully on Thursday with Georgia. Unless you put all your eggs in one basket or get very unlucky then things should even themselves out |
By:
..and for such a different and distinctive song as the Netherlands, I'm not sure the draw is so important.
I'd like 7+ though |
