Muzza of course.  Crazy move but boredom does often set in I guess.  Well done to Shirley and gang who were laying at 1.02 and 1.03 for this very opportunity.

These markets are very thickle and even though almost every time big favourites come out on someone trying to manipulate them I can never bring myself to have a net lay position.  Shirley is very good at this.

"Very difficult here to see how you go wrong backing both Murray and Froome."
"It will 95% for me be one of the two.  Probably Murray no matter what happens today."

nigelpm1 • July 7, 2013 5:54 PM BST
"yep.  Done and dusted.  Two good years for me."

nigelpm1 • July 7, 2013 6:01 PM BST
"accident wouldn't change anything."

nigelpm1 • July 7, 2013 10:09 PM BST
"what can you get on an ISA these days?"
"It's near as dammit risk free.  Not sure there's a better investment"

nigelpm1 • August 26, 2013 10:16 PM BST
Keep picking up blocks of Murray here - won't make me rich but it's absolutely 99.9% assured.

There isn't a chance Murray loses this. You shouldn't be able to back him any more.

wales rfu host saffers, argies, tonga and wallabies in november

1/2p could be a great shout if nommed, you know how these welsh enjoy a phone vote

bbc might even do free votes online for spoty, that'll help the facebookers !

still think muzza would be  very unlucky not to win

No campaign enough to beat him

Though farage and froomage look very vulnerable for the places
By:
donny osmond
When: 28 Oct 13 11:49
the longer bbc leave the nominations the less time to organise a campaign too

there must be some wimmin to get nommed......

a top ten market would be good, but obviously open to insiders

no overseas spotty market again

vettel v bolt would be a goodun

I've asked several times for a SPOTY shortlist market and even suggested that Betfair could suspend such a market at the time the BBC selection panel begin to convene for the first time for their sole purpose of commencing the shortlist selection process (...or simply at midnight on 31 October). Perhaps if enough of us 'badger' Betfair in this regard, they will consider such a market for next year.

However and much more importantly folks, where is Richard Kiel? Laugh
Richard, your 1.04 Murray back is safe and the market will once again soon reflect this Mischief

OK guys, with SPOTY just over 6 weeks away, of the likely shortlist contenders who do you rate as having "not a chance" of winning.

I'll start off with:

Chris Froome ~ "not a chance"

Yep, we are living in a parallel universe Jack.

By:

When: 06 Nov 13 12:46
Multiple Universes = YES ~ Parallel Universes = NO

Richard, what price do you think that Murray will drift to when he announces he can't be @rsed in coming over from Miami to Leeds for SPOTY?
By:
GeorgeBrush
When: 06 Nov 13 13:15
He'll come this time

He knew he wasn't gonna win last year
By:
Jim Duncan
When: 06 Nov 13 13:40
...you may be quite correct Mr Brush, but Murray's price if he doesn't change his usual Miami training block and normal itinerary?
(iirc Sir Bradley drifted to about 1.75 on the day/night of SPOTY 2012, so there will be panic in the Peleton if there is another no show by Murray)

Others have won the award while abroad, Jim - Flintoff, Calzaghe… If anything it earns more respect for professionalism & dedication. Did Muzza no harm last year when he grabbed 3rd place in a very competitive heat.
The Wiggo drift was due to discovery of early running order of his VT, & Jess getting all the fanfare later on.
By:
nigelpm1
When: 06 Nov 13 18:36
Pretty sure I've read somewhere that Murray isn't attending.  The Wiggo drift was a bunch of folk getting themselves all excitable about the running order and ignoring the polls.

By:

When: 06 Nov 13 18:40
He is not fully fit right now, so that probably makes him more likely to come?

Was expecting 1.01 or 1.02 by now to be honest - very surprised it's moving the other way
By:

Moving the other way??  Been 1.04-1.06 for ages with the small spike out to 1.11

both, have traded this one a little although I backed it heavily on the spike out and have laid some off, stepping in again at 1.06.  I fail to see any coherent argument that he's not screaming value above 1.04.  I'd have it 1.01 on the small chance something major screws with the voting on the night.

Murray is British now Jack.  DYOR you lazy sod!

By:
Jim Duncan
When: 06 Nov 13 19:23
I did see Murray didn't poll particularly well on GoggleBox when he recently collected his OBE, but as you correctly say he's really a 1.01 shot much like Darren Clarke was in 2006.
