Depends on your opinion I guess.
Sunday's pimp slot went to Carolynne Poole.JH reject from last year, they played on her personal problems in the VT,and she humbly agreed she wasnt ready then.Very scripted, she sang well and looked good.....looks a cert for the lives IMO and they are constantly ramming down our throats how "strong " the overs catogery is. Jade Ellis the Saturday possible I suppose.Single mother VT,although it was suggested she is a lesbian in the weekend tabloids!! Spoilers seem to suggest she made JH with rumours she may have made the lives. |

Bottom of barrel in danger of being worn through if Poole gets pimp slot
By:
Still time for anyone to have a "moment" during BC or JH episodes. This time last year we hadn't even become acquainted with the eventual winners.
By:
True, hard to see another band winner this year like. They needed to win the Nobel Prize for ramping to get that one over the line. Boyband poss I guess, but 1d doing so well precludes that for now I think
By:
I like Carolynne Poole. Think she would have wide voter appeal - she can sing, women will sympathise, men will see the attraction. Previously 3rd in Fame Academy has to be a negative though. Not exactly fresh, although I guess that comes with the territory for the 'olds'.
By:
Someone like Wagner will win XF before a middle aged woman imho
By:
lol at the 'she wasn't ready last year' bit
![]() |
By:
Wasn't clear in my post GB.It was sold more like she had personal problems at the time of JH last year, and therefore she didn't sparkle.Iirc she mentioned IVF and relationship problems.
By:
Even with a big push I agree it will be very difficult to get an 'old' over the line - their record is very poor, although it could be argued that Cardle should have been an over.
I think the older contestants are much more resilient to the XFactor machine and producers - not as malleable, and much more likely to have a strop / argue with the judges. All of a sudden they have a rubbish song with a ridiculous arrangement on second and we know the rest. That said I think Carolynne would be a great one for the producers to have as I think she could be pushed or dropped very easily. |
By:
Failed IVF led to marital breakdown is the background.
By:
She could have liberated syria, she ain't winning
By:
I'd like to see that theory tested GB.
![]() Although I agree. |

Looks like there will be a fascinating new dynamic with XF this year. Cowell has turned it into Fame Academy Lite but hasn't really told the GBP yet. Viewers will be tuning in to watch and vote for the karaoke king/queen who can hold a high note as usual but will be faced with pimping of the "artists". Something has to give.
I think I have interpreted twitter for one act as them making the lives but who normally wouldn't last the 10 weeks. However giving Year Zero who knows? |
By:
Same audience, just fewer of them. Cowell simply wants the acts in the final he can make most money out of, no change
By:
Except the acts he may be able to make most money out of may not appeal to middle england viewers.
That said he already knows he can make more money out of acts who don't win as those who do. Leona Lewis was the exception not the rule. |
By:
Yeah, like I say, he only needs to get them to the final
By:
Must remember that 'making money' out of acts, is actually comparatively very little once the pie is all sliced up. The money is in advertising, therefore viewing figures are all important. In theory chart success is good for the brand, which in turn should lead to viewers, advertising and profits. They will do anything to push viewing figures, the recent collapse has seen them go down the credibility route. The problem is credible acts shouldn't be taking up invitations to go on XF, so they end up with the flops and 'last throw of the dice' types.
By:
every time a over the hill karaoke singer wins the brand suffers, the prods know this and are the masters of deramps, earlyslots, faint praise(to avoid any sympathy vote at all costs), and poor song choice with ridiculous staging, not forgetting storys planted in the press.
once the lives start I doubt there will be more than three acts the prods would consider allowing to win. for most of the forum who know the script it should be easy to make cash |
By:
Hopefully mach. Make cash every time but for some reason fell a sense of trepidation about this one
![]() ![]() |
By:
snap....my earlier post was trying to rationalise that trepidation.
By:
No feel for the acts yet but I'm sure it will come..it usually does.
By:
That's prolly what it is Bails. Plus I've missed half the audition shows. Missing them all is probably the correct approach mind
By:
Doing these series half-heartedly is one of those routes to the poorhouse
By:
There's a type of voice that always does well. I can only recall your Lucie who struggled with the public, but as a hot young lass not that much of a surprise with the prods not having her as part of their agenda. Been all smoke and mirrors this year I suspect because of the dearth of appropriate 'talent'.
By:
True. And to be honest, Lucie's voice was pleasant but unremarkable. Bit croaky these days too
By:
I thought her voice was just right. Cowell had enough weight back then to kill her off tho. To make way for Joe
![]() |
By:
Luckily Joe and Lucie were my two picks going in that year. One year I will lose I guess. Made a head start on that front already!
By:
I don't think he really gave a sh1t that year, I didn't really see him ramping Joe, he just went with Cole and the public. Surely he regrets Lucie vs Jedward though? He ought to, it was the moment when he lost a lot of the public I think
By:
Before I go with my Sherlock Holmes' detective work and risk a daft tenner on James Arthur does anyone want to tell me not to?
By:
Well he dressed Olly in that white suit. Olly from his 'team'
I think he had high hopes for Joe but everyone knew he would flop in the charts. It was the move that exposed the show for the sham that it is, for the peeps that believe in father christmas. |
By:
Had he been any weaker in the final Olly could have won like. Rather like the Cardie collapse in the final
By:
Gonna reserve judgement until he has a bath Bails. Makeovers are the work of Satan but he actually needs one, looks a bit Storm Lee
![]() |
By:
He gave up when Danyl got eliminated just getting beaten in the vote by Olly, it was the only time they've ever been to the judges with the lines still open. Louis was desperately begging for people to vote Danyl always remember the casuals complaining about people knowing how the vote was going
![]() when it was obvious to anyone with 1/2 a brain Danyl was struggling he went from 3.5 to 2.1 in the 3 minutes to vote suspension. After Danyl went Simon gave in and let Joe win, rather ironic that Olly is now one of his biggest stars. |
By:
Ah of course, Danyl was his first love that series
Must have used KY and not the dry humping he gave poor Lloyd |
By:
james Arthus is from Saltburn which is a place I love. I think he might have made the lives. His facebook page looks like it is gone and he seems to have stopped posting on twitter. Some guy said if he was till putting out music he can't have made the lives but response was that he is giving music away not selling it i.e. contractually ok.
Not sure 25/1 with a run is that good value given his very intense style might be non GBP friendly though twitter will love him. Actually really like his songs. http://soundcloud.com/jamesarthurband/sets/the-james-arthur-band-tracks/ |
By:
Did someone say the bootcamp audios are online somewhere?
By:
Yeah, maybe a bit too intense. They're been worse 25/1 shots oc
By:
We brainless types likes intense, as long as they don't really mean it
By:
Grimshaw ?

I traded well on Grimshaw
. But yes, point taken |
