Yep, a small drifty on Sweden.

Looking at Italy last year, it was 11th in the pv. Do people think that given the draw and the performance today Spain won't beat more than 12 songs?
I don't.
I also think it has a very realistic chance of doing an 'Italy' with the juries.

I'm talking myself into taking the money @ 26 and 25. Someone stop me! Laugh

That argument only works if Spain runs way with the jury vote like Italy did. I don't see it though I appreciate you might

Italy had the returning to the competition boost. I realise the jury vote is also anti diasporo but there are some worthy ballads around and ofc my personal jury favourite, Iceland

Surprised to read so much love for Azrbaijan today. I thought I was one of the few who liked the song and even I didn't think it was that great today, staging wise

Not many/any worthy western european ballads. UK could have been one,but after today I can't see it getting much of a jury vote

I see the juries going for Germany too, and it getting a higher televote than Spain.

I have about 35 greens on here and none of the top 4 Grin (Sweden & Russia green overall tho. Russia only very small) So green to play with.

Yep, Germany should get a reasonable jury vote. I can't see it smashing it tho like I can Spain.

Say top 5 on televotes and top 5 with the Juries though, and it probably beats a 1st and a 11th which is possible for Spain.  Unless Spain win the jury vote by a landslide of course.

I see Spain higher than 11th in the pv. Top 7 at least for me.

What do you make of this one?  This was 4th in the televote, and many reckon it would won with juries.

Nice enough on 1st listen. Better than most of the ballads this year. Dosen't really grab me as Spain did on 1st listen tho.

Wow that girl is beautiful. I'd say Spain's ballad is actually much stronger. The Israelis got the staging perfect though - pianist, guitarist and backing singers, and all perfectly spaced out. And her beautiful dress with the train.

wot Henry says.

Wasn't it just pv in 2005?
4th from a draw just before halfway shows a female ballad can poll well.

Mostly pv.

The EBU introduced an undisclosed threshold number of televotes that would have to be registered in each voting country in order to make that country's votes valid. If that number was not reached, the country's backup jury would vote instead. In the final this affected Monaco, Andorra and Moldova but in the semi final, Andorra, Monaco and Albania all used the backup jury for this reason.

It's one 12 came from the jury of Monaco

3 things strike me, it is multi lingual, the girl is way more attractive and the song is much sweeter.  That's the type of female ballad that has proved to do better for televotes in the past few years.  That's the big worry for me with Spain.

Popking a female ballad from Serbia won ESC in 2007 with the 3 opposites to your point: mono-lingual; unattractive (lovely though she is); power ballad.

That's why I can't understand why you're trying to back it Leaves? It's nothing special, just a decent ballad.

I'd say 2 reasons.
For me it has impact and is the best ballad I've heard in the contest over the last few years.

Plus we now have juries who have shown they love a good ballad and that they throw their support behind countries who lack allies.

Plus a good draw (that's 3)
