just caught up with this afternoons vids...my god what the phuck are they doing with the staging & choreo on France...it seems to happen to me all the time, the one year i fancied Albania and they put a gimp in a pink spiderman outfit on her,then Moldova last year, it started off as a rock song and they went all phuck!ng jokey, jeezus there's no sign France were gunna go gymnastic ffs !...still it's only a practise run i suppose.
Italy was well sung but anyone can sing well standing still...not a phuck!ng movement, i hope the jury acts accordingly. Azeri bird has a good voice but the song is a total drag to me. Spain's vocal was superb and they too seem to have gone minimalistic like Italy regarding stageing etc...perhaps less is the new more. UK as i said re France, it's only a practise run and can only get better. |

Yeah like Spain here. Already a decent green but allowed 36 with spoils at 33/1 so thanks for pointing it out. Must be a lot shorter in the final.

The worst one for me was the Armenia sisters with Jan Jan.
A colourful fun promotion video was turned into a rather uninspiring, dirgey, dark song and stage presentation when it reached the contest. Thankfully it managed to sneak a top 10, but gave me some scary moments on the night. |

well i've finished backing now...backed 5 Norway,Cyprus,Ukraine,France & Greece (which i've bailed out on here at a loss) but have also backed all with various bookies.
i backed Ukraine last year and i thought the sand artist actually spoilt it's chances...this year it's the opposite imo, the virtual dancers and the human dancers are quite magnificent (even if they are wearing skirts)  |

Because they think the same about it's chances as you do Bex. That's the risk you took of backing something you didn't believe in in order to trade.

I dunno about the Spanish song, the vocal is fantastic, but we expected a fantastic vocal, no? If so, this was already factored into the price which explains why it hasn't shortened more. It will on final night, like Austria last year, but even she remained in the 20's IIRC.
Even if it tops the jury vote, can it win? If it's not top 10 on televotes, I seriously doubt it and therefore it's a big dilemma for me. I have it green on the win market, but not in heavy for top 4. A good jury vote though and surely it makes top 10? |

Maybe due to the poor performance of the ballads last year in the pv? I think it could smash the jury vote and do better than Italy from last year in the pv. Especially with the draw. I have a 5 figure green already so probably won't be doing any more backing. Or laying. Unless it goes a silly price ir. I'm more confident now than just hopeful, which I was before today. It stands head and shoulders above any ballad I've heard in the contest over the last 5 or 6 years |
