Henry VIII

Dull is the new shiny Henry. Especially when a 'cute' lad is singing

Yes, girls may like him and he's got a excellent draw, but it's not enough.

Still the viewer vote to worry about. I reckon it does well enough to mount a serious challenge.

Spain is my favourite song by a long way.Her vocal there was brilliant.

Still shocked this is up at 30 when the draw is known. I was expecting 12's who knows maybe in a weeks time...

Yes, Spain looking good. Still see some natural limitations as to how well Spain can do with so many ballads in the running but I really like the song. Then again, I speak Spanish so I don't know how that might factor into the equation.

Henry, I also got the impression that Italy did not go overboard with their budget. Minimalistic would be a euphemism here. I guess it ultimately depends on the close-ups (which we didn't see). With good camera work, they could still pull it off. What do you think?

Spain up next and the staging of this is very simple. Pastora is on stage alone and is only
joined on stage by backing singers towards the cresendo at the end. Vocally this is truly
amazing really really powerful and my second goosebump moment of this year. She holds the long
notes effortlessly. I think this could actually give Spain their best result in years.

Germany a good viewer vote pretty much assured and I suspect a reasonable jury vote.
Hard to know how following something as powerful as Spain will do for it's chances.
TBF it didn't harm Azer, but Austria was no Spain

Outside my tilting at windmills with Malta, Norway and Spain are my biggest greens. Can't believe I won't turn a profit trading them.

Where's the fingers crossed smiley?

I like the fact they have the piano at the start very loud in the mix. In some versions they'd had it much quieter.
ofc this is in the stadium. No idea if it will be so loud on the tv feed.

Yep, can't say I disagree with Andrew there. I guess a top 10 result would be one of the best Spain has had in years.

Any value in taking Turkey e/w @ 14/1 in the second semi? plenty of voting strength and the staging/song seem to be coming over well

Yes leaves it wasn't as sleep inducing at the beginning and that may be the reason. Hope it comes over on tv that way

I believe so - it has the potential to do what Greece did last year but with the proviso its not so well drawn.

Depends how you rate Sweden/Serbia/Norway I guess

Its a very good draw but iirc Greece were up last?

Yeah I followed you guys on Greece last year, pretty sure it was last with Azerbaijan close by. I would hope Turkey would edge out one of the 3 you mentioned which are obviously the worry, although ultimately they're likely to find one too good I guess.

Spain hardly a powerhouse of eurovision, but still the best response I've heard in the stadium

AKOE Keith - get the blinkers and earplugs out you muppet Shocked

Spain’s Pastora Soler is a white dress with green underling and sequins. She has a ponytail which is giving her face a rather scary look, especially when she scowls at the camera. There are four backing singers off stage until the last minute, but instead of giving the song a lift they manage to kill the performance in two ways; they are dragging down to a lower key and they are removing the personal nature of Pastora’s performance. Pastora is pulling out of the high note in some run-throughs, but that’s nothing to worry about in a rehearsal. It still leaves me completely cold and indifferent and Germany coming after it should kill it off completely.

Strange this how different forums /blogs have so differing opinions. I read the ESC bet live chat as they are all suggesting bets and opinions based on the reheasals. They love Italy and thought Spain was poor.
Personally I think they are noobs and paying attention to Keith Cool - they don't realise the 'real' experts are on here Laugh

This must be female AKOE so for once no team opinion here Keith is on his own:

Pastora Soler sings Quedate Conmingo for Spain. This sounds stunning in the press centre. She is wearing a white dress but I doubt its the stage clothes. The background starts deep blue then bursts into greens and golds. This is a great ballad and has given me my second goosebumps moment after Estonia did the same but as I have the radio on in my ear and my team just went 1-0 up in the cup final it could be down to that :-) The long high note is fantastic!!!! With only Engelbert Humperdinck to rehearse this is my favourite performance so far. When the backing singers join in it is just stunning.

Norway tomorrow the one I'm most interested in and possibly Italy to see if they tinker with the staging or revamp it. I can't see me changing my mind about much else. Spain will be great again

I'm at odds with the market. But have been the last 2 years. So not too worried. Italy shortening after that is ludicrous.

No point giving a personal opinion on the three dull ballads i have just sat through, i'll be hounded off the thread.

Just remember, you don't have to love your winners and you don't have to loathe your losers.

Squares I don't think Spain can win I just want to shift my bets at a lower price - I'll agree on the other 2 Cool
