Jeez, I've heard about a dozen songs or so songs so far - pretty poor fare up to this point. What on earth is the Georgian entry all about?
Looking for lyrics for it as it sounds like he says 'I'm a f*cker' at one point. I guess when you're finding words sounding like 'jocker' you run the risk of misunderstandings! "I'm a jocker, I'm a rocker, I'm a smoker' FFS, how can this from the same country that gave us One More Day?? |

Yep, a bizarre choice by Georgia when they had 2 or 3 decent rock tunes in the final. Some are suggesting the winning song is plagiarised and may yet be changed. Latvia chose badly for 2nd year running imho - they had a fab novelty tune - Mad Show Boys' Music Thief - but instead chose a dreary ballad with some of the worst lyrics you'll ever hear.

Feel sorry for the other contestants in Ireland. They are taking on a marketing juggernaut and may as well not even turn up. Louis Walsh knows every trick in the book. He has RTE in his pocket, along with the Sligo jury, and is probably already busy tracking down jury voters across Europe.

werent they behind last year and won on the sligo vote? I think/hope they get it but wouldnt rush in at 1/3. They didnt win the jury vote last year, but the juggernaut does seem better organized this time.

Yes, JOT. The Sligo jury vote was key last year. Sligo - home to Westlife.

Melanie McCabe has revealed that she will not be able to perform with Jedward, when they make their Eurovision bid on Friday night.
Last year the X Factor twins made their way to Düsseldorf, to perform their track ‘Lipstick’ in 2011 competition and ended up finishing in eighth place. This year they hoped to do the same, using the song Waterline, but first had to make it through the public vote rounds on Ireland’s Late Late show. Their performance was supposed to feature backing vocals from former X Factor bootcamper Melanie and Leanne Moore – the winner of the 2008 series of Irish talent show You’re a Star. However McCabe – who made it to X Factor bootcamp in 2008 and as far as judges houses with Kelly Rowland last year – has since admitted that she has been too ill this week and doesn’t feel that her voice will be up to scratch by this weekend. She told The Herald: “It’s just so disappointing not be able to sing with Jedward.” Claire Molloy – who has previously performed with the famous siblings during their panto Jedward And The Beanstalk – will now replace Melanie. A spokesperson for the boys admitted: “We’ve changed all the rehearsals as Claire isn’t even here yet but all will come into place.” John and Edward Grimes will compete against five other finalists on The Late Late Show’s ‘Eurosong 2012′ on the 24th February. Before the show the boys will be mentored by Linda Martin, who won the Eurovision back in 1992. |

Is it just me or is the Jedward song actually quite good?
I stress the word 'quite', let's not get carried away here! |

jedward won it seems

No surprise there.
Backed as low as 8 now ![]() |

Won a ton and looks like they won easily. Never thought of backing them as the results announced on twitter as assumed at 1/4 getting the Irish nod was already factored into the odds. Not as catchy as last year anyway I think.
|
|
By:
Question is will the factors that led to them being such a crazy low price last year be repeated this? I think they will be single figures come the final.
They are in a weak semi with few voting blocs to scupper their chances so certain qualifiers imo |

I'm getting alarmed at the laclk of quality thus far in this year's line up. Austria's 'Woki Mit Deim Popo' is another one for the 'terrible' pile. I guess no one can afford to host it and making sure they don't win!
Also the lead singer of Trackshittaz has the face of the cowardly lion in Wizard of Oz! |

Is this seriously the Montenegro entry
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6tIGDTcy1D0&feature=related It's not even a song! Is this some sort of wind up. I saw the title Euro Neuro and was expecting some banging techno and instead get this! |

You know whne you listen to a song but not really take in the lyrics - well that was the case with Latvia. Just listened to the opening two lines which compelled me to get the rest of the lyrics. Is this for real!!
I was born in a distant 1980 The year the Irish Johnny Logan won Now he’s old, you know, still kinda famous Could be my way, today’s my day, I’m singing of my song If I win as many did before me If this song became a big known hit I would buy a modern mic to sing it And all the jobs I did before I’m surely gonna quit Beautiful song is on the radio, is in the TV shows and so on and on Beautiful song that everybody knows and everybody loves Beautiful song is on the radio, is in the TV shows and so on and on Beautiful song that everybody knows and everybody loves My mamma said “You gotta be a singer” My father smiled when gave me my guitar I did my best, ‘though I can be much better Higher up the highest and the very further stars And the day when Jagger, Mick did call me I couldn’t talk ’cause I was really busy Recording song with Sir Paul McCartney “I’m sorry, Mick, I’ll call you back, one day I’ll call you back” Beautiful song is on the radio, is in the TV shows and so on and on Beautiful song that everybody knows and everybody loves Beautiful song is on the radio, is in the TV shows and so on and on Beautiful song that everybody knows and everybody loves Beautiful song is on the radio, is in the TV shows and so on and on Beautiful song that everybody knows and everybody loves Beautiful song is on the radio, is in the TV shows and so on and on Beautiful song that everybody knows and everybody loves 'Best' bit has to be "And the day when Jagger, Mick did call me, I couldn’t talk ’cause I was really busy" Why not just say Mick Jagger instead of Jagger Mick!!? Bizarre |

I think this year is shaping up to be stronger than last, honest. You've certainly picked out some of the more dubious entries above. I personally like Trackshittaz and cannot wait to see the stage presentation. The ESC always needs fun tunes like this to enliven proceedings. On which topic, Latvia had the brilliant novelty tune 'Music thief' by Mad Show Boys. This would have been a much wiser choice as it could have done very well with televoters. 2nd year running Latvia has chosen poorly... Banjo Laura in 2011 was a potential top-10er.

I'm yet to hear a song I'd listen to for pleasure, apart from some of the Estonian ones and possibly one or 2 others. |

Agree that so far its a poor year although Jedwards number is quite catchy if a bit teeny pop for my tastes
Why is Sweden so short. I've looked at the two favourites for melodenfestival and one doesn't seem much better than Norway and the other seems to be a club banger type song. |
|
By:
Staying late here at work and listening to a few more now off youtube and trying to make myself familiar with all the songs.
After my negative start to the day I've heard a few for the first time and have a few more on my like list which is currently Norway France Denmark In addition, reasonable songs include Germany, Ireland and Switzerland (if the guy can learn to pronounce his English a bit better he'll get more votes - sings a bit too fast and comes over as 'Wrecking Ball' when the song is 'Unbreakable'!!) Having heard Austria a couple more times I can see how this could be the jokey 'Moldova 2011' song that actually gets reasonable support! Finally, anyone able to decipher what the hell Euro Neuro is all about??? |

Blimey just checked on Oddschecker and Sweden best priced 9/2 now. 6/1 already looking value but I suspect shrewdies on here will have much better than that. Loreen leads the Swedish itune downloads chart of the semi finalist winners. Don't know numbers.
