I laid some 11, so I'm guessing the Jedward song aint bad.
33/1 was a crazy price. Couldn't get much on with Paddies but a fair bit on here @ 30 and bigger

Have PP pulled the market now?

Not that I'd be able to get £500 on :(

Nowhere near as good as last years if they get through

Just had 300 to win a ton. Not a fan of big odds on backing but having listened to both it and the 2nd fav as well as the polls looks a value bet.

Wouldnt go steaming in at short odds George its 50% jury and 50% televote and whilst they win the televote the jury isnt as nailed on, so if a.n.other wins the jury vote and comes 2nd with the public they could be in trouble.

Ooops thanks JO.  Nowhere to lay off though so just fingers crossed then. Serves me right for not doing my homework properly. When is it judged?

That said if jedward don't make it and the 2nd fav goes through then 33/1 ireland to win euro will look skimpy odds indeed.

It's shaping up to be a very strong ESC this year imho.

There seems to be a tendency for price crashes. When you consider the unknown variables at this stage... it should be 12-1 and higher.

I've not heard anything that jumps out as a winner as yet.

Certainly nothing I'd be worried about laying around 12 and lower

Some of the big guns with a good record like, Russia, Greece< Turkey, Azer, Armenia are being laid at silly prices.
Not that I'm complaining

If any of them produce a western friendly song then you have a contender that should genuinely be single figures
By:

When: 11 Feb 12 23:26
yes, I've noticed that fig, and can't figure out why. Maybe people are writing off Greece cos of financial crisis and not being able to afford to host but you have to respect their outstanding past ESC form. Azer... maybe people think winning twice running makes them more of a long shot but if the song is good enough I don't think that's much of a factor at all...? Armenia - concerns over them even competing, but they are competing now unless a last minute u-turn...?

Frankly gobsmacked at the Norway price. Its a very bad folk song, I frankly started laughing about 10 seconds in and barely stopped before the end. I'd honestly put it nearer the current price on here to qualify from its semi not to win the whole thing.

Pleased to see I'm starting this year's ESC the same as last year, wholeheartedy disagreeing with the AKOE reviews. They say this of Norway:

Song 4. Plumbo – Ola Nordmann

This is apparently the one to beat, its annoyingly catchy and is  a Fiddle dee dee

tin whistle song with a slightly rocky edge to it, oh and it has a key change and

some pyros. Its so annoyingly catchy that I think it will do very well in this final

and if it goes to Baku could be a big hit there too. 6/6

Maybe this in part explains the price

same reviewer last year after France's rehearsal:

France are the winners, of Eurovision!

Ok I am nailing my colours to the mast here but France is simply stunning.
Totally blows me away with the backdrop the opera and the voice.
It sounded a bit off key in some run throughs but the power wins me over.
The backdrop is night and day and clouds and sun and moon all moving
and merging together. This looks totally amazing on the screens.
Paris 2012 beckons more and more now.

By:

When: 13 Feb 12 15:17
RUSSIA : Like Romania, Russia has competed in every Eurovision final since the competition expanded in 2003. On December 28th, RTR confirmed their participation in Baku. Auditions for potential national finalists will be held until February and a jury will select a total of 25 acts to proceed to the final, to be staged on February 26th. The winner will be decided through jury voting and televoting.

Sick as a pig that I didn't get on the 5/1 on Tooji winning the Norwegian MGP on b wi n.

Listened to the songs on Friday whilst at work, had Tooji in my head all weekend and seen today that it won, completely unaware that the actual comp took place on Saturday - I thought I had at least another week to ro so to get a bet on.  Fool!  Oh well, stuck a £20 marker down at 14.5 to win the whole thing, which goes completely against my own advice earlier in this thread of waiting to hear all songs before even thinking about backing.

Of the 9 or so songs out so far, no standouts other than Norway.  Cyprus quite cute song but not a winner.  Hungary reasonable song (a bit 'Mike & The Mechanics IMO) but singer not that good.

"cjhornet -  If Greece pick a half decent song they should win whether they want to or not!! "

I love the ide of a country picking tosh and still winning (Greece tried it last year by nudging out Mikki Ponte and still ended up with a Top Ten finish,) much to their horror.  Like when the Giants scored a touchdown in the Superbowl to take the lead even though they didn't want to (as bizarre as that sounds!)

Popular was much catchier. This is a really poor imitation Eric. He's not as cute, either. They do shop at the same clothing store, though. Red on Norway for me.
