Trying to work out whether it's a good thing or not that we have Englebert.  My only memory of hearing his music comes from a small village in the old East Germany in 1991 where the locals hurriedly put on a cassette of his music to welcome me to their place and then looking puzzled at me when I looked puzzled at their choice of music.

And now after all these years I get to relive that strange afternoon in my head.  At least I know UK will get five or so votes from that village this year!

I've fully got my Eurovision head on now.  Listening to them relentlessly.

I have a clear top three (although with 19 songs still to come this could easily change)

1. Norway - good song, the staging wiill be energetic, good looking lad, why on earth is the price drifting?  Doesn't make sense!

2. France - absolutely love this. already taken some of the big prices on here and if you wanna keep laying my 180 you can 'Be my guest' (to steal another title)  Let's face it, there's some sort of agenda these days to ensure countries that can afford to host are given 'a hand' by the juries  ;-)  Could be another Italy i.e. big price to come through for a high finish

3. Cyprus - jolly as jolly can get.  Simple lyrics that everyone will get without being too simplistic (which is where Ukraine probably falls short this year.)  May be one I tire of in the scheme of things but one I'm happy to listen to regularly at the mo.  Also, the girl is pretty without being over the top - a combination which proved decisive for Lena

What price you lay from fll? Do some on here owe you thanks for an early all green book?

At around 8 GB2.
I've laid most of the runners and am happy to have Sweden red at the price when some of the big guns like Russia, Azer, Armenia (if they turn up), Greece, Serbia, etc, have yet to show their hands.

I could go all green if I was minded to Silly

Greece was 5 last year and 27 once they'd picked their song.  Sweden lay all day for me at the mo

I'm not laying Switzerland but I still maintain that Euphoria is a too niche and slightly dated 90s club song to be widely popular.  A kind of non operatic clubby Sognu Laugh   If they choose the Danny Saucedo song that may stand a chance but its not as good as Jedders

At last I have heard a song I like though - Israel.  Probably won't qualify but sure makes me smileHappy

Edit that should say not laying Sweden

It's my belief that at this stage you can back or lay most prices on here and trade out for a profit either way between now and the final.  Prices swing wildly both ways.

Italy's the classic from last year but most countries hit in the teens and then out again in the high 20s or out into the hundreds.

Tread carefully with Cyprus, honest - we don't know if Ivi can sing yet. At every presentation of the song she has mimed to backing track, including in Bulgaria this week. There are some Cypriot XF clips about on YT - I have big doubts. Looks like another Kati Wolf... and we all know how that ended up.

The aussie firm have most of them priced up now.

Some shocking prices, but they are top priced on one of those that I know a few of you fancy.

btw Honest, have you checked your messages on here of late?

Had a listen through all the confirmed songs, am no Eurovision expert but my opnion:

Denmark have an excellent song, decent price at 12's imo, even if it's not as catchy as something like Satellite. Great track record in previous years too, with no victories, but lots of high finishes (exactly the same as Azerbaijan before last year). Can already imagine the winning performance.

Germany have a shot with a cute cheesy song and a cute guy (looks very Rybak-like). Wouldn't write them off

Hungary have an excellent song, although probably not eurovisiony enough and not as strong live - keeping an eye for decent prices on top 10 though

Croatian song seems pretty popular, would be surprised for it not to qualify.

Spanish entry is very solid, poor track record in previous years though, and a huge number of other solo females that may dampen the impact. But still a decent price.

Most of the rest are pretty rubbish. Jedward surely wont do any better than last year. Not keen on Loreen for Sweden if it's her, Norway's is too clubby. Endless other female ballads that it's hard to see making an impact.

Looking forward to it, looks like it could be a good year Happy

Very smilar views here jack.
You have my top 3 atm.

My worries about Denmark is it sounds a little too american. Almost country at times and reminds me  somewhat of the Swedish flop 'This is my life'

As you say about Hungary. An excellent song, but average at best live. A poor vocal on the live version I've seen and the lead singer looks nervous and sweaty.
Not a winning combination, unfortuantely.

Spain - an awful show last night, but they've come up with an excellent song that does sound good live.

Still think Loreen is the stand out if it wins Sweden final. And that's not certain. I keep singing it anyway. Has a bit of that "shock" winner from years back "wings of love" {?) about it.

By:

On the songs the countries have picked.

There are still around half the field who have yet to pick their song, but 20 or so countries have chosen their songs.

Just go to youtube and type in 'country' (ie Denmark, Hungary etc) eurovision 2012.

..and if you wait til they're all 'out' then you miss lots of value.

Any thoughts about Turkey?

3.4million YT hits across 2 videos since 22nd Feb, and a fantastic record in the competition (besides a major blip last year). Decent song, good looking guy.

33/1 EW is surely huge? My jaw dropped when I saw 70's on here

Shabby stuff if so. I've been pretty fortunate it's only SJ I can't get on still. PP are limiting me to about £400 exposure now, but they are a virtual cashpoint for me Silly

Join the club GB. And not just on specials. I think it's sid james and bet365 who limit you on everything once you've had a couple of winners.

I was offered a 1p yankee at cheltenham by one of them last year
By:
George Bailey
When: 04 Mar 12 22:40
Funnily enough just specials. Anyway I used the last of my free bet today and traded it out on here so that's me finished with them anyway.  there's a couple of actual shops near me if I need to use them.  Inevitable that the doors close on all of us eventually I guess.

They seem to limit you by factors, on XF last year was interesting seeing who was limited by a factor of 10 and who by a factor of 100 at laddies, I presume for the bigger sports the maximum exposures are higher and therefore you'll be able to get more on even if you're limited

1p yankee Laugh

It was laughable jack Grin

I don't think any of the others limit me on horses or sports. Not that I bet too often or very big on either.

Had the 1/4 at Bwin, surely the new format makes it very unlikely that there will be a nul points in the final. I make it nearer 1/20.
By:
seanvice
When: 04 Mar 12 23:15
new format as in the one they have been using the last few years.
