I don't know how you can play poker bearing that in mind.
Similar to me with the horses. In the past, getting tonked on the post like I did in the GN would have sent me on the chase. Can take it on the chin nowadays. |

Also I've always had it in me to bet compulsively.
Everybody alive has it in them too. It comes from the evolutionary need to grab things like food or sex which could be here today but gone tomorrow. |

Have you been backing at current prices George?

fll I`m not talking about your Bolt `moment` but your 10,000 to 0.00 challenge, which certainly put a new twist on the more usual 0.00 to 10,000 type challenges. Have you forgotten it? Must have been quite a bender!
(To any Specials forumites who are unaware of this challenge and who are worried about fll`s status as `King of Specials Betting`, fear not, he failed, miserably, to lose the 10 grand!) |

I don't play a huge amount of poker these days.
The old betfair poker used to be money for old rope at the cash tables and altho you'd take some nasty hits with terrible players spiking you on the river, you'd just punch your laptop a few times, take a deep breaths and remind yourself that longterm profit is all that matters. When betfair moved platforms as well as losing my 'duffers' list, built up over a couple of years, I also found the standard of play overall to be higher. So lots of graft for very little reward. Which being a lazy sod by nature isn't my thing. |

Oh right Tim. I thought you were referring to my Bolt bet.
You mean the parody of all the challenges on General betting, that I did for a laugh. Yep. I got bored and gave up after backing a couple of winners ![]() |

btw here is some fanwank for Pastora at the Netherlands concert.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BRyJG3e9ejg Well deserved imo and I can only see the price going one way come the rehearsals. Bex will also be happy that they've cut out the 'boring' start. |

Can anyone remember if Spain usually send their act to this concert?
it strikes me they're taking it more seriously this year, knowing they have a good'n |

OK, you're not completely insane then

Yeah fll tried to find a live feed last night for Concert for Eurovision but no good. They are all here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQj66UaPAZE&feature=endscreen&NR=1 Some sang live some didn't. I took some more Spain based on this. Some better than I thought others just confirmed how sh1t they are. |

What I'm expecting from Spanish rehearsals is stuff like - "I didn't see this as a contender beforehand but now having heard it live its blown me away. Excellent vocal and such a powerful climax to the song" Cue 12-16's on here, I lay and it fails to register top 10 in the final. Simples

I'd be amazed if it wasn't.
Jedward and Romania the only 2 who mimed apparently. The blue dress and blue lighting works very well too. I hope they go for something similar in Baku |

Nadine went from 60's to 10 after she peformed.
So I'm hoping for better than 12-16 ![]() |

I was keen on Germany's chances before I watched that video.
It's going to look rather lame after Pastora's performance tho. Having said that, viewers might like the contrast and it will appeal to a different audience. |

Sweden can be beaten
![]() I just think 3.5 pretty fairly represents it's chances. |
|
By:
Whereas 9.6 on Italy is just stupid.
|
|
By:
I reckon we'll agree on that one ;)
|

By:
Sorry leaves that wasn't iamed at you. I'm expecting all the expert/bloggers from Baku and the polling to conclude Sweden has it in the bag - at least thats what happened with France last year
|
|
By:
True.
|
|
By:
ofc like France last year, Spain won't be in the journos semi final polls. Which tended to have quite an influence on various markets.
I guess we should be on the hunt for songs that will outperform their current position in those 2 polls. I suspect you already have been. |

Nope, just checked, not a penny of mine went on it, don't even remember it. I loved (but not in the betting sense, I didn't back) the Spanish one from 2 years ago that suffered a stage invasion and was allowed to perform again at the end. A staging mess alas clowns and curly hair. |

FWIW AKOE's Eurovision in Concert Review is up - http://www.allkindsofeverything.ie/Amsterdam12.html
Unsurprisingly it's very different in its conclusions from Sofabet |

By:
Strikes me, most observers carry their pre-conceived notions into these shows. Not surprising AKOE rave about Ireland...
