Think someone asked for a live version of Italy. Not the best quality. Visceral enough to win or more a studio recording song?http://www.escchat.com/threads/live-performances-of-eurovision-2012-entries.1486/

Cheers GB.
I wouldn't be backing in single figures off the back of that performance

Yes henry I do have some big backs but they are flagged up here and are all just trading vehicles for the night itself. Some I do aim to lay pre-draw assuming the price moves in line with what I expect to be 'glowing' rehearsal comments ie the likes of Iceland and Spain. Others I will definitely be keeping for the results to come in like Norway and Romania

and with the bulk of these its job done already to an extent as I'm on Icel;and at average 35, Spain 30, Romania 75 - Norway I'm in deficit with atm 26's

I know the point has been made that all the Scandi countries have good songs this year, but it just means they'll all get the 10's, 8's and 7's while Sweden clean up all the 12's with their allies in Scandinavia, plus Northern Europe and the Baltic.
It will only need some half decent scores from the East to win comfortably.

Finland            9.25
Denmark            8.45
Norway            7.43
Iceland            7.33
Bosnia & Herzegovina    7.20
Serbia                6.60
Turkey                4.36
Serbia &Montenegro    4.00
Hungary                4.00
Estonia              3.50

These are Swedens's voting allies historically. Personally for the purposes of my spreadsheets and calculating voting strength I have assumed anything less than a regular 6 or more to be unreliable.
So leaves these less than stellar results don't to me back up your comment re Sweden cleaning up in their own region let alone spillover into Northern Europe and the Baltic.

Sweden had a song that was huge in the region last year with Eric saade. How many 12 points did it get in the end? 2 - from Israel and Estonia ie none from Scandinavia [

I agree about Italy but can't see evidence Sweden will clean up in northern Europe and, as for the Baltic, I can't find Lithuanian and Estonian iTunes charts even in their own language. Atm it’s 6 in Sweden, 5 in Norway, 2 Finland, Denmark nowhere.

I love her stage presence even when she doesn't dance but it just seems such a fanw@nk - sounds so clubby, even has laser lights n'all.

Last years song was aimed at a particular market. A market in which Jedward stole much of Eric's thunder outside of Scandinavia.
Loreen, the song and the presentation has much broader appeal imo. I've seen it pop up in itunes top 10's all over western europe.

So there's a lot if and buts about Sweden. Why is it 9/4 exactly?

Ok leaves so you recommend people back at 9/4 - glad we have that clear Cool

ESC fans always love upbeat clubby tunes. (I think the fans are a lot younger and a lot gayer on the average than the 26th of May audience).

So I think the polls are misleading in this case. And the polls are getting people to bet.

And I think people who are red on it are probably wishing they weren't so are looking for reasons to get it beat.  Books can talk more ways than one Wink

There have been many worse 9/4 shots in my time backing on specials.
I wouldn't want it red.

It's far from some Eurovision fanwank song.
It's a commercial song that has charted all over Europe and for me as a package had broad appeal to both viewers of all ages and to the juries.
You can't say that about any other song. That's why it's 9/4

It’s not a Rybak, there is no Rybak this year, therefore anything priced under 10 at this stage is a nonsense.

Also I may have missed it popping into top 10s outside Scandinavia but Satellite got into top 10s and stayed there.

the latest vid of Loreen is much improved from the official vid...no more darkness and the big bum has gone too...i now have to consider Sweden as one of the favs to win.
Italy, Denmark, UK, Serbia, Spain, Iceland, Germany, Russia & Ireland make up the top 10 in the betting...of those 9, none in my opinion can beat Sweden.
i have backed Greece,Norway,France on instinct and Cyprus will be backed if she can do 'live', Romania are being considered also.
i have no idea why Italy are 2nd fav's or in the top 10, Denmark is poor, UK has trap 1, Serbia is well Serbia and i don't know if the singer's postures are from Arrogance or confidence, anyway he annoys me, Spain is a nothing song for me, Iceland is ok on video but loses out 'live', Germany is poor, Russia is a joke and the Oirish are just too phuck!ng stupid.
ps, anyone know a bookie doing 'without Sweden' please ?

It's no Lena, but Satellite didn't chart anywhere outside of Austria & Switzerland, until the week leading upto the contest and even then only in Scandinavia
It did receive airplay tho. Especially in the baltic states and surprsingly, or maybe not given the number of Turks in Germany, in Turkey too.

The big concern about satellite was her vocal and her performance and whether because it was charmingly amauterish, the juries would back it.

No such worries over sweden

Loreen has real class as a singer and as a person. She just looks like a winner. For me she passes the "close your eyes and imagine who sings again at the end" test.

Henry if you think all songs should be 10s plus you must be talking to your bank manager about remortgaging to lay her even more Wink

I do agree it's no Rybak.
The big difference is that at the time of Fairytale the contest had been dominated by the eastern bloc countries.
Norway also have a truly shocking record.
That eatern stranglehold has now been broken.
A song of the quality and broad appeal of fairytale would be 1.5 this year.

The last I heard was that they were not changing from the official vid, she just does different versions on tour.

That eastern stranglehold has now been broken.

It strangled again last year when, as in this year, there was nothing exceptional.

Apart from Sweden Henry ;)

Personally I don't think much of the Finnish performance from Loreen.
The vocal as always is excellent, but I hope you're right Henry and the performance in Baku is more like the MF one.

Whatever your position, it's nice to get a heated debate going (Mrs Merton would approve), as there have been very few on here over the last few months and forum appeared to dying a death.

I like playing Devil's advocate with Sweden but honestly its hard for me to be otherwise when I don't particularly rate the song. I'll be leaving Lorren unbacked and if I do get it green before the final it will only be through successfully having played my other trades.

If, after a few results on finals night (if it makes it ofc), its 10's plus then I may find myself poressing the back button. Before then, not a hope in hell Cool

Yeah FLL it’s good to thrash every angle out.

Some top Swedish ESC bod said that because they had a black dancer the east Europeans wouldn’t vote for them. And the dancer gets quite intimate with her.

He was just talking technically, as us gamblers might, but there was a big outcry about it, so they said that the dance routine wouldn’t be changed. That was their last statement anyway. Nothing’s set in stone till rehearsals.

The Lena debate was epic Happy

tbh we will all be wrong from time to time, especially me as a position taker. I don't like Sweden at all, however Eurovision remains a bit of a mystery to me (Lena aside).

I suspect the quietish forum has been due to lack of interesting events. Everyone knew the final two of DOI (apart from a couple of bizarre distractions Tongue Out

We've only really had AI, which has been a great contest, but unfortunately no liquidity and very little interest on here bar 3 or 4 of us.

Stupidity and boredom I call it.

Altho TBF if you ran that race 100x he'd probably only false start in a couple of them and win the other 98

It was slightly more than a 1000 Tim Sad

LOL. He looked value even at the 1.1 ish.

The stupid bet was following it by backing the favourite in the 400M.

Also I've always had it in me to bet compulsively. Especially when I was younger.

Only 2 options when that's the case. Either give up gambling or turn that compulsion/obsession into a positive and learn how to win.
I managed to turn an ok profit on the horses for a number of years after many failed attempts, but then discovered specials which takes less work (apart from BB) and doesn't have the wild swings of 'luck' that comes with betting on the horses.
