Selby is playing negative, even for Selby

Not taking on that pink just sums up the fudging pool player.

All this granite talk is naueating.

He deliberately tries to knock opponents out of stride with gamesmanship. Hopefully Allen can stand up to it as it gets worse the further behind he gets.

Exactly.
Selby deliberately takes an age over ever shot to simply put his opponents off.
There's a video on Youtube where he takes more time over a single shot than Ronnie does to make a 147.

Here is Foulds calling out the negativity. More of this and less of the granite nonsense cheers.

What a steal by MS needing a snooker
Not sure it will affect Allen as badly as it would others, though

Allen is playing nearly as negative and just as slowly.

Plus safety is just as valid as a part of the game, so don't get people's problem with it myself.

Watching selby is pure torture his game is stuck in the 70s 80s

I get it that some people enjoy that part of the game but for me personally it’s tepid to watch

I enjoy the skill of safety just as much as watching potting during games - they are both high skills to show.

The winner of this game surely wins the final and I think they both know that

Finally Selby starting to move up the gears in his play...

Selby's like a lumbering heavyweight trying to wind up for a devestating hay-maker. Allen's a bit more like Manny Pacquiao, just jabbing and moving - a bit more agile...  Feels a bit like that. To be honest Si is making them both look like dinasours atm...

I think when it goes scrappy, he's trying to match Selby's pace is Allen - lots of thinking time. But when he's in the balls - he is spritely...

If Selby does prevail here, that frame 10 green ball fight may look pivotal- a small hinge that turns a big door.

He's my favourite player personally in terms of being a table genius at his best, but I realise many prefer just watching balls get knocked into the easy pockets here...

Its not that, we just want to see good play. Selby is obviously a top player ...a Rolls-Royce. Is he a master of the dark arts? Maybe...
By:

When: 28 Apr 23 17:21
But 'good' play can be both safety play and potting breaks surely? Both key. He can do both, and he switches style when he feels it's best to do it. That's a great player all round.

TBF, Allen is giving him a stern test so far though and Selby does show dips in periods of his play - he's still beatable of course.

When: 28 Apr 23 17:31
I enjoy him, with reservations. However, I think the game, in light if this match-fixing scandal, needs Si to breathe some new life in... If he does do it, they will be talking about it as long as the game is played.... Si is the phoenix from the ashes ;)

How Selby is such a clever player, his immense safety drains the opposition player so they make errors, just like this last on from Allen.

I agree about Si - it has been a new wave for sure.

Selby has been a good result since the beginning, personally I don't mind the way he plays in the slightest. However it has been absolutely excellent having Si on the scene and if does go all the way then I'll be delighted with that.
