38 is pretty close to 40 Timber; I guess you're in one of the cooler parts of the UK and 28 on waking is quite warm too. Overkill? Yes probably OTT reporting, but a few warnings should be made to the more vulnerable. Criticise by all means, but keep it real guys; this isn't pleasant for everyone.

It was quite pleasant walking home just now, Aspro and I'm no spring chicken at 77. I had a chat with the lollipop man outside the school and he's about my age too. I understand that those with debilitating conditions need to take extra precautions but those of working age should just get on with it.

From what I'm understand, they are Foinavon, but to say that it was nowhere near 40 is not quite accurate if you live in the South East. These are not temperatures that the UK are accustomed to so a few 'sensible' words of advice is probably a good thing. If this becomes the norm, then I'm sure we'll learn to adapt but I do agree that saying "100's will die" is scaremongering and something should be done to stop that.

It's not that Aspro, it's the subconscious, subliminal climate change hoax messaging
Just have a look at the Guardian's articles in the last few days

Why don't they advise people to take electrolytes, one of the finest things in hot weather

I'm all for nature doing its thing Timber. I was a teenager in 1976 and thought little of the extended sunshine we had. Not yet convinced about climate change myself, but even '76 didn't hit these temperatures, but it was prolonged and probably more difficult than just a few days of it. 38 in Birmingham... so it was wider than I realised.

The PC jumped from 29 to 34. Updating a little slow, but feels about right. Saying 38 max today, but yesterday said 34 and it hit 38 so could be anything.

I'm hearing rumours that The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse have been seen having a leisurely late breakfast near Emley Moor, following their overnight shenanigans.

Let's hope that Kay can take command of the Sky HD News Copter and get them interviewed on cam.

You'd make it illegal in a decent country. ÂŁ2.50 at Manchester airport, get off in a Greek airport and it's 50c

The body representing Irish stable workers has struck at Kilbeggan Racecourse after a protest was held Friday night when free bottles of water were not provided on the stable grounds.

Action by disgruntled stable staff forced a 22-minute delay into the third race, leading to further delays of 18, 16 and 14 minutes for the races that followed.

The chief executive of the Irish Stable Staff Association, Bernard Caldwell, said racecourse manager Paddy Dunican initially refused to provide free water in the stable. Caldwell says Dunican informed barn staff that they could buy water instead at a subsidized rate of $1.50 per bottle in the cafeteria.

This was deemed unacceptable by the stable staff organization on a warm night for grooms who have to walk their runners “half a mile” from the stable area to the parade.

“The manager said if they wanted it they could buy it in the cafeteria, but he wouldn’t give the barn staff free water,” Caldwell said.
