Buy the dip of course but when? I can see the Footsie below 6000 by mid-March unless the Russians retreat and how likely is that? Russia and Ukraine control a critical amount of the World supply of energy and Wheat (30% of world exports) and while other countries can replace this over 2-3 years, in the short term these things could be rationed.

ES (s&p) is at 4,246 (delayed data) historically, wars are great for stock markets due to all that extra spending on stuff that not only destroys itself, but destroys lots of other stuff as well, plus humans of course. Has Putin averted a world stock market crash? ![]() |

I would be gutted and almost paralytic with doubt and uncertainty if I held a
short position from a week ago. Hold short or exit? there seemed to be above average volume over nigh on ES, it tested 4,100 a couple of times and the retreats didn't seem to indicate unusual strength. Dealing with situations like this are key revealers of weather you've got what it takes to analyse, bet and then analyse again under the very high pressure of a bit of adversity, a skill needed to play this game well. What would you do now? what a humongous bounce with no crescendo reversal : Conclusion hold short what a humongous bounce, fk fk fk: Conclusion exit exit exit. It would take me a few hours to think it thru, and all that stress would be screaming at you to exit, making it hard to see what the right decision actually is. |

The FTSE lost 290 points yesterday and it's up 224 as I write.
Why did it fall so far yesterday, simply to claw most of the losses back today? Has the news suddenly changed? Or was the fall nothing to do with the news anyway, and just a money making exercise for market professionals? |

Something happens which you don't understand and it's insiders gaming the markets ?

it's all there in black and white. if you don't like the unlevel playing field, move on, don't wind yourself up with nonsense conspiracy theories about 'insiders' etc. |

asking questions like these, when it's laid out in black and white who operates and moves the market, leads me to think I am not the only one who's got an awful lot to learn about the markets. |
