For as long as I remember, Bunzl plc have outperformed market expectations when announcing their results and this year was no exception. Shares jumped by £2 each om Monday. Some correction today but still near all time high. I bought at £4.60 20 years ago, now £29. Wonderful money tree with around 3% dividend in an average year.

But you didn't buy for the dividend I take it.

What was your advised/recommended/suggested purchase pecker?
I recommend getting into index linked short duration gvt and defensive equities as this is sure to be very inflationary. Will have moved already but still some scope imo. |
|
By:
Cider I didn't advise a pick.
Clearly you have decent funds available for those moves. I will PM you now my angle, I am long. I don't want a conversation about it, if you don't mind. Shall I PM you. |
|
By:
Sure. I'm not particularly a short term or day trader, but I feel like there's a reasonable chance of calling the short term moves correctly atm. We know a few things, epic money printing, significant inflation, scarce resources, unfounded euphoria and excessive valuations.

I'm very sure than most regular people are still unaware of what's coming. For the avoidance of doubt, for anyone looking in, I'm not seeking to profit from war or misfortune. For one thing, most of this is not due to war, the war is simply exposing the significant weaknesses. I'm simply looking at capital preservation as a priority.

Hi Cider
I have a few different interests in small caps that I have been tracking for some time, some therapeutics stuff I've bought some Ai I haven't yet, some energy too. I have bought open door at just above ,7 bucks, I've been tracking them for awhile. Anyway I don't like weak hands so I'm an all in type and as a result am largely involved in just one sector. I'm looking for large returns, and having tracked the sector for 2 yrs and examines about 30 company accounts, I've settled on one company in one sector, although I've recently bought a few thousand shares of another company because of a symbiotic relationship. The company primarily Tilray, in the cannabis sector, and secondly Hexo, as effectively Tilray have a 37% equity option on Be so through debt purchase. I won't give the long reasoning but Tilray have very sound chance of dominating the sector, are very undervalued, CEO has history. I have have hexo at .52 and Tilray averaged down to about 7 bucks, I'm in for almost everything. US legalisation will orbit this stock, but Tilray are diverse with a large footprint and will be fine anyway. Cash burn slowing, but rapid growth costs. That's it without being too forensic. Good luck either way. |
|
By:
Probably my fault but it wouldn't send, to Cider, I got tired trying.
So I'll stand over this anyway. |
|
By:
Yes Pa, I don't if I can hold grudges and happy to admit it in wrong.
I've no doubt Cider is the same, what did I say that lol |
|
By:
I should add Citadel have aggressively being shorting the market and Tilray in particular.
I won't fear that and see if as an opportunity. On the book value Tilray are valued at about 9.70 but the potential is truly massive. |
|
By:
Cheers lapsy yes I'm pretty old school in that I play the ball and not the man.
Nice one pecker, I've heard from other sources that cannabis is a strong play. As you note, legislation is the key risk factor but you make a persuasive case, I'll take a deeper look at that one. |
|
By:
Great to see some sophisticated plays and discussion going on.
I'll be reading this thread as it goes forward, and may chip in with a few chart based plays here and there as I come across them. I'm not great at fundamentals, preferring the straight up maths of risk/reward ratios, mostly on indexes. G'luck |

Fair play for putting that up PD,i have v little knowledge re shares but interesting all the same, they did have a lot higher valuation.
The Irish forum was a font of knowledge re racing at one stage, people knew what they were talking about, quite brilliant and the more intelligent talk brought yet more. Guilty at times of getting embroiled here with pettyness myself and i am aware i shouldn't. Of course you are saying in good faith Cider people are going to get 'squeezed' for the want of a better word,it is quite scary,i really feel for mortgage/rent payers, those with young children and not sure i can leave too many groups out but bleak looks fair. Good luck also. |
|
By:
Thanks Pa
Yes previous valuations are an indication So just for today and the record. Tilray 5.30. Stonking value imo, buy add hold two years or more, has to bring debt down. Hexo .57 slightly different reasons, but the same applies. Has buyout potential, debt free, and you can buy loads of shares cheaply Opendoor Technologies 6.79, has a future, bad timing. |

One further thing
Earnings are coming very soon So is safe banking bill And volume has been very high today |
