LANSING, Mich. (AP) — A special prosecutor in Michigan has been appointed to investigate whether the Republican candidate for attorney general and others should be criminally charged for their attempts to gain access to voting machines after the 2020 election. https://apnews.com/article/2022-midterm-elections-voting-michigan-machines-073c28bb2e4b9c74c77e5b83755c72d1 |

While campaigning at a church, Kari Lake proudly repeats Trump’s comments calling Mexicans, rapists: “They are bringing drugs, They are bringing crime. They are rapists and that’s who’s coming across our border.”
This is Trumps nutjob pick for Arizona Governor. |

@JoshKraushaar · 4h The candidates seen as most electable — including a McCarthy-backed candidate for a House seat, McConnell-aligned candidate for Senate and two Sununu-backed candidates for Congress — went down to defeat in New Hampshire to MAGA aligned candidates. |

@amyewalter · 1h In MD, VT, MA, and now NH, GOP voters have chosen the more Trump-ified candidate over the candidate that has either been endorsed by, or run in the mold of those states’ popular, centrist and more establishment GOP governors. |

Biden approval rises sharply ahead of midterms: AP-NORC poll
WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden’s popularity improved substantially from his lowest point this summer, but concerns about his handling of the economy persist, according to a poll from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research. Support for Biden recovered from a low of 36% in July to 45%, driven in large part by a rebound in support from Democrats just two months before the November midterm elections. During a few bleak summer months when gasoline prices peaked and lawmakers appeared deadlocked, the Democrats faced the possibility of blowout losses against Republicans. Their outlook appears better after notching a string of legislative successes that left more Americans ready to judge the Democratic president on his preferred terms: “Don’t compare me to the Almighty. Compare me to the alternative.” The president’s approval rating remains underwater, with 53% of U.S. adults disapproving of him, and the economy continues to be a weakness for Biden. Just 38% approve of his economic leadership as the country faces stubbornly high inflation and Republicans try to make household finances the axis of the upcoming vote. Still, the poll suggests Biden and his fellow Democrats are gaining momentum right as generating voter enthusiasm and turnout takes precedence. https://apnews.com/article/biden-approval-rating-poll-bf41fe8b0016bf8aaf144e7310c6539f?utm_source=homepage&utm_medium=TopNews&utm_campaign=position_4 |

At a poorly attended Ohio rally last night (around 4k in a 7k stadium) Trump continued to attack non MAGA Republicans and in particular Mitch McConnell. If he is trying to form his own party and divide the existing GOP one right down the middle, he is going the correct way about it. Revenge perhaps, for not all supporting his ludicrous stolen election stuff?

@mmurraypolitics Headlines from the new national NBC News poll: 1. Biden's approval inches up (among registered voters) Approve: 45% (+3 since Aug) Disapprove: 52% (-3) Improvement comes mainly from core Dem groups like women, 18-34s, Latinos The core women 18-34 group improvement will be directly related to abortion issue but not sure about the improvement in Latino support? |

Article in the Telegraph on the Roe/Wade angle . Main takeaway "Party strategists have described how their candidates in crucial Senate races - all of them men - are "getting killed" among suburban female voters following the US Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, which had enshrined a national right to abortion."
