Going to France is a choice as is going to Mexico or the USA. They all take time, factor it into your expectations that's all. If you don't like to waste time travelling then stay at home. Your choice, nobody else's.

but pre bozo's sh1te tca deal you told me that we has no need for an sps agreement as things would just carry on as before. you even said that if those affected by us leaving (in this instance farmers, fishermen and food exporters) could, in the worst case, just send their goods via a country that did have such an agreement with the eu. how did that work out?

Yep we don't have a deal with usa,...

Now we left the EU we are outsiders there too

Back of the net, err, queue

Seem to recall that some remainers thought
aircraft wouldn’t be able to fly into Europe post brexit
How did that work out ?

i seem to recall you were a remainer lfc.

planes not flying was a distinct possibility if we left with no agreement, i first became aware of it from someone who campaigned for decades to leave the eu.

Well, they had to negotiate a new deal lfc, without
it, they wouldn't.

about something that wouldn’t happen

The strange thing is .. things have gone very very smoothly,
surprisingly so
By:

It's a good job the remainers pointed these things out.

The negotiation team turned up for talks with
no clue, no briefings, no paper to take notes nor
pens to write with.

No wonder we got such a chite deal
By:

could have been a little better .. but it was a very good deal by anyones standards

What about the bit where we forgot to get
France to agree to take migrants back.

Seems a schoolboy error
By:
lfc1971
When: 28 May 24 16:06
That’s not a surprise France never took a migrant back before brexit
Without U.K. taking 5 back in return
By:

That didn’t seem like a very good deal .within the EU . now did it ?

Absolutely deluded Lfc...explain any of the following ......

The majority of economists believe that Brexit has harmed the UK's economy and reduced its real per capita income in the long term, and the referendum itself damaged the economy. (Wicki)

So while Brexit may not have been the biggest reason for our surging food inflation, the higher costs it added may have played a significant part. (BBC, LSE)

Economists, including those at the government's own independent forecasters, say part of that gap may reflect Brexit-related costs or uncertainty. That makes the UK less efficient than it could be, meaning the cost of producing stuff is higher.(Oxford Uni)

After May's shambles, Bozo did well to pick up the pieces although far from ideal. The cliff edge car crash never happened, remainers were wrong about the economic impact. Mysteriously, our balance of payments deficit with the EU has reduced because we import less from them despite not immediately putting barriers in the way as they have done to us.

There is more red tape put up by the EU and our major exporters cope with it and still export to the EU. Some small exporters find it too much trouble so have stopped exporting to the EU, that's their business decision. Perhaps Bozo could have done better, he could have done worse, not in the power of ordinary voters. For them it was a political decision, not an economic one. The economic scaremongering was raised by the remain camp as they had nothing else to go on, the political project has no upside for ordinary citizens.
By:

that's their business decision.

And their livelihoods ruined, cheers brexit
By:
jollyswagman
When: 28 May 24 16:44
the eu have put up zero red tape, that was our government's decision.

you havent really answered the question though so i will answer it for you. no, those for whom sps arrangements are needed have not carried on the same. and a grand total of zero companies have got around these requirements by sending goods to the eu via a country that does have such an agreement.

Like all the livelihoods that were lost when businesses and jobs were transferred to Eastern Europe during our time in the EU. The devastation of our fishing industry when we joined, the loss of our orchards and many manufacturing jobs, What happened post Brexit was a storm in a teacup in comparison.
By:
jollyswagman
When: 28 May 24 16:48
that is completely irrelevant to what you, incorrectly, said would happen with bozo's deal. a poor attempt at deflection, imo.

Our fishing industry taking back control

You are bonkers, just like brexit, that gives the
ordinary citizen nothing, but takes away the benefits
of eu citizenship.

jtg foinavon told me that things would carry on as before without an sps agreement, i am trying (and failing, unsurprisingly) to get him to admit he was talking hogwash.
