son of a gun, let me try and explain something to you regarding bookies, particularly with regard to politics. If a bookie is taking plenty of money on a 3.0 shot, should he increase that price if the true chances of winning are 6.0?

Nice of you to take me under your tutelage, but I am pretty aware of the fact that there are market movers out there who have much more money than you do. The real question reamains, why don't these dummies drive Biden down to 1,1-sub-territory?

On this election I will have roughly £20-25K invested which is a reasonable amount. I have no intention of moving any market.

The reason the Trump/Biden market isn't moving too much is that the weight of money for both candidates is balancing the book at current prices.

As I say, don't mix up polling models with bookie prices.

You don't need to tell me that. I just wanted to point out that it's unusual having Biden still at 1,5 when polling suggests he should be much lower.

It's not unusual at all, it's normal. That's why betting on politics is a licence to print money.

Biden isn't a 1,1 shot that's why, son of a gun

He's a 3 shot

This is a typical example of why Biden isn't 1.1. Folks that have no understanding of politics/polls/betting think Trump will win because they want him to win. These are the types of folk that are betting on Trump at around 3.0, ensuring bookies hold it at that price.

Trump might as well say as many outlandish things as possible right now because when the election is over and he's lost, nobody will be interested any more.

1 tick at a time (for now) one reason Biden is not shorter must be fears Trump will in the manner of tin pot dictator refuse to accept result

Trump loses by a small margin he wont declare and rightly so, he'll send it through the courts and that opens up a can of worms

You mean Trump won't accept the democratic wishes of the American people? If Biden loses, he will accept it.

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-election/hillary-clinton-joe-biden-donald-trump-us-election-2020-a9688361.html

Hillary Clinton has urged Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden to “not concede under any circumstances,” in November’s presidential election, as she believes the results are “going to drag out,” because of mail-in voting.

Ms Clinton, the Democratic presidential nominee in 2016, told her former aide Jennifer Palmieri on Showtime’s The Circus on Monday, that she believes the Republicans are attempting to “mess up” mail-in voting to gain “a narrow advantage in the electoral college.”

In the interview, Ms Clinton said that Republicans “have a couple of scenarios that they are looking toward. One is messing up absentee balloting. They believe that helps them so that they then get maybe a narrow advantage in the Electoral College on election day.”

The 72-year-old claimed: “In the recent Michigan primary, I was told, in Detroit the Republicans had 40 lawyers challenging absentee, mail-in voting, and a local reporter, talking to one of the lawyers he knew, was told it was a dry run for November.

“So we’ve got to have a massive legal operation, and I know the Biden campaign is working on that.”

Well, this is regarding counting every vote as all democracies normally do. In my post above in response to SS, I was saying that Biden would accept that democratic will.

Not if its tight, PP

He'll rightly call a recount or refuse the result which he's entitled to do

The standard case that gets churned out all the time regarding "conceding" is the Bush v Gore episode from 2000.

Any of the candidates can ask for a recount in any state if it's close enough.

By:

When: 09 Oct 20 18:01
In order for Trump to try any shenanigans regarding the result, there has to be an element of doubt. If the result is a clear win for either candidate, there is not much that can happen. If the next President was decided by popular vote and it was close, a full recount throughout the whole of the USA would be in order. The electoral college system they use eliminates the need for that.

Trump loses by say a handful of votes they can't really play the "he's a dictator" angle though

No one is going to accept such a result
