That is a completely different market Stewarts.
It's not settled because she hasn't formed a government |

100 people surveyed "Whose the current PM"? All answered Theresa May
come on betfair pay out ![]() |
By:
The logic of what you guys say is that Betfair should have paid out on Gordon Brown in 2010 , as he was still PM for some days after the election.
He couldnt form a government , Cameron could and so was the winner. All the stuff about appointing ministers , carrying on with Brexit talks etc is coming from May only so far If the cabinet support her how hard is it for them to prove it by making public statements in support ? only Grayling has so far |
By:
I was just able to back her @1.33
How are Betfair going to close a market with those prices getting matched. |
By:
Think they'd be on sticky ground now seeing how the media are referring to her as PM in current tense
By:
Well they did with Brown too until he resigned.
The market should maybe have been called 'next Prime Minister to form a government' I think today surely she will either be able to appoint all the ministers or quit |
By:
But Gordon Brown didn't go to the Queen to ask fir permission to form a government
By:
Forming the government is what we have in the rules , not just being given permission to try
By:
Yes but he didn't even go to the Queen, so it's not the same as it is now.
By:
Also I think that having a market called "PM after May" and "PM after election" might cause problems. According to Betfair Theresa May is not the PM yet but it looks likely that she will be ifficially PM soon, according to their rules so surely the PM after May (before the election) is looking like it will be Theresa May herself.

No DUP talks this weekend.....

Forming the government is what we have in the rules , not just being given permission to try I too have been in contact with BF and this is the sticking point. It's about May reaching a formal agreement with the DUP, even if the agreement is for an informal coalition (e.g. Supply and confidence) . Right now, May has an informal agreement. |

No payout until Queen's speech passed....imo
By:
To me the rules are all about her forming a government.
If she does that Betfair pay out even if there is no deal with the DUP and the Queen's speech is voted down. My main concern is that she might simply resign , once she appreciates her colleagues only see her as a stopgap to prevent any further Tory chaos for a few months. |
By:
The longer it's left, the more apparent it becomes to everyone that her remaining is highly toxic for the conservatives.
The bullet that needs to be bit is delaying the start of Brexit negotiations. Once the two frontrunners in the leadership context acknowledge this, she's toast. |

I have no liability atm on this market, laid it off. I have £22.70 to come on TM and £198.90 on JC. Do I start having a few bob on Boris, Amber, Davis and Gove ? Opinions?
By:
It'll be either Boris or Amber....Gove too divisive and Davis possibly contaminated with the decision to hold the election.
Boris would not be my choice however he delivers votes. |
By:
Watching the news I've just laid her !
By:
i thought she was pm when she visited the queed and gained her permission
but i see betfair have different ideas she is pm, but not within the exact rules somebody will lose bigly on this and betfair will be tested by ibas next time the rules will be more clear .... good luck all |

market barely reacted to survey from conservative members saying 2/3 want her gone...
price is mental. |
By:
still open
![]() |
By:
Her advisers gone
silly me I thought she might be principled and stood by them or it appears they are having resigned ! |
By:
This will help May survive for a while -- at least long enough to form a govt.
By:
Good odds May. Worth a decent punt, do you think?
By:
Only has to form the government and get a deal with DUP, nothing to do with a Queen's speech
Just silly market panic forcing price out, hold tight imo weighed in shortly |
By:
2/3 of the membership want her to go. Not a single member of her cabinet has endorsed her. She's been forced to publicly throw her two hated Spads under the bus.
Lucky if she lasts today, let alone a week. |
By:
You'l be laying that 1.25 then dstyle, good luck with it!
By:
there's no government until the house has voted through the queen's speech....that's my understanding cos if the house votes against the contents of the queen's speech someone else will be asked to try to form a government.
By:
Just backed May to form govt.
By:
They just need an announcement on tv posy, that's from Betfair themselves
By:
amber rudd is a complete non runner for the leadership. too closely alligned with may and only hung on to her seat by 300 votes. could lose her seat in any subsequent GE
By:
Corbyn at odds 30, the lay of a lifetime. The math simply does not add up.
By:
May given ultimatum, sack your two advisors or you go, them or you.
She punts them. That should be that. Only thing to tie up now is the DUP deal, expect that to be done and announcement made asap 1.26 looking juicy |
By:
agreed, take a punt and don't look at it for a few days. Job done.

Not sure betfaor know what theyre doing themselves on this market - cash out not even available - I think they have fooked this event up and dont know what to do. If that's the case surely they should void it
