She has to have a full cabinet.
If 2 or 3 say they won't serve under here then it could still fall apart as others will scent blood |
By:
Betfair are expecting the Queen to write to them personally.
By:
What is a slight concern is the statement 'Downing Street has confirmed Boris et al are keeping their jobs'
You'd want to hear that they have agreed to do these jobs in her government , not that May wants them to It's really up to the cabinet to decide if she can still be PM rather than for her to decide who will be in it right now |
By:
won't be settled until the opening of parliament
By:
She has got everything. This wasn't about how long she'd last just who would be pm, she is still clearly pm
Every news channel all saying the same. She's kept all her staff, been to see and had the go ahead from the queen, been on tv saying she's staying to work on Brexit. What actually else is needed? |
By:
Where does it say that spurs? Not trying to be funny but it seems half these rules are getting made up as they go
By:
She has to have a full government of people who agree to serve under her
It is not clear yet that the people that 'downing street' are saying will be in the cabinet have agreed to be |
By:
Would not have been announced unless it was agreed.
By:
yep rules could be clearer but to me it looks like government not formed yet ..a weekend heave by dissenting MPs could scupper May IMHO

So why no sign of Johnson or Rudd anywhere ?
To me it could have been just stating that Boris was foriegn scretary and will continue to be , and as Boris has not resigned that technically is true , but it would be much better for her if he is stating that he has agreed to serve under Theresa May , but i can't see any quotes that he has said this |
By:
Is Boris that important? If he doesn't want to stand under her than can she not just hire someone else?
Surely it's about Theresa being pm not if Boris is happy with it or not |

Email bf that link |

If senior cabinet ministers don't support her continuing she'd have to go
Maybe they will all support her but it would be massively in here interest if they were out there making the case in the media for her to stay and so i's puzzling the hen't been up to now |

The damage that a weak lingering May could do to the conservatives should not be underestimated. Not only will it play badly in every respect, but there are huge synergies for Corbyn, with a solid popular mandate that will presumably force the PLP and MSM ready to finally get behind him.
And the DUP, a party that makes the swivel-eyed loons of UKIP look like a bunch of socially progressive greenpeace activists. All her presence does is remind everyone of the disaster she has created. She can't last. |

https://www.gov.uk/government/news/election-2017-prime-minister-and-ministerial-appointments
There's a better link. She's formed her cabinet. Pay up. |
By:
I'd be concerned with that statement if i'd backed May heavily .
'no further appointments will be made this evening' means a Government has not been formed Now it will drag on overnight and everyone will dwell more and more on what a disaster it all is The Tory press will be crucifying her all night long and the more anyone looks at it the clearer she will have to go sooner or later |
By:
yep if it drags over the weekend...she could be goosed

Prime Minister Theresa May has announced some of her Cabinet positions following the general election 2017.
The following Cabinet posts have been confirmed: Surely that puts any doubt to bed? |
By:
That from the official ugov website
By:
She remains Prime Minister so will be referred to as such still , but 'Prime Minister after the election' requires someone who has appointed a full government of people who have agreed to serve under them
By:
Ugov is really just May's press officer effectively
By:
Where does it say in the rules of the market "someone who has appointed a full government of people who have agreed to serve under
them" Again, I'm not trying to be funny but a lot of these rules are getting made up as we go here. Obviously a lot of pockets talking (myself included) but lets still to the rules on the betfair site please It's a disgrace they haven't settled yet imo |
By:
stick
By:
They've told me they are trying to settle it before the end of the day. we shall see.
By:
This market will be settled on the formation of the first ministry (government) after assent is given by the reigning monarch after the next UK general election.
So it doesn't even say cabinet ( 20 odd people ) but 'ministry' which means junior ministers too so that is 60 odd people Though if she has a full cabinet the rest should be a formality |
By:
What I found worrying, was when contacted Betfair, they didn't seem to know themselves what they were waiting on exactly.
By:
I have been talking to them on Facebook, and what I said earlier is what they told about ten minutes ago when i posted this link.https://i.guim.co.uk/img/media/d6e50462cf686d73193bf137bec56a879896fd22/0_0_778_408/master/778.jpg?w=780&q=55&auto=format&usm=12&fit=max&s=ac810520f983a594e2fb556a4cdd713f

By:
no senior cabinet member would want to challenge in the present position . they would lose if calling a rerun election , and no back bencher would be allowed to.
those offering 1.13 and 1.14 are throwing away cash imo |

The Queens speech on the June 19th will make it official, before then nothing is set in stone. If anyone backed her at short prices it's squeaky bum time, you know a week in Theresa May's position is going to be like an eternity.
By:
The rules to me seem it is simply a case of forming a government , which includes junior ministers , and she has barely started on that.
If she does manage that though over the weekend then it will be settled. I still think it possible she could resign though as the reality of being a lame duck with diminished authority sinks in .Already apparently cabinet ministers telling her she has to get rid of her special advisers , who she trusted in more than her ministers. |
By:
its getting more like a next manager market
maybe we need to get 'arry redknap added to the market ![]() |
By:
its seems clear now from BF on twitter that at the very least a full cabinet must be selected and confirmation of a deal with DUP must be announced

drifting now , last price matched 1.36

This is a farce, market still not settled, indeed it's still open and they've even changed the name of the market, to "Who will be PM after Teresa May!" How can they change the market after the result is known?
