As the Hawks game is another eliminator they'll have to leave blood on the ice so there should be goals , without checking we've had 2 elimination games so far I think and they've ended 7-2 and 3-6 and this is the 3rd one coming up.

Think Kings are good enough to forget the other night and start again on serve tonight , whether they're good enough i'm not sure but they've got to be mentally right for the 2nd period as Sharks are becoming fearsome in the middle part of the game.

Have to think that's a 3-2 series and game on , first thought for me would be how dangerous it would be to forget how good Canucks are for game 6 , back on away ice with a typical gameplan and they'll be very hard to beat.

Doc - its all blocked on our computers at work - I've had to invest in a dongle and take laptop in, fortunately we have a mast just outside of the works

Pleased Yanks are playing hockey through Good Friday - would have been gutted had they had the same policy as our racing!

Oh, and my job is really, really tough

LOL

whats the score with these dongles then?..i.e if you run streams on it doesn't it use a **** load of data allowance?

Great night of hockey yet again  Happy

Brilliant from Boston to win at that venue when the chips are down , one of the games of the season for me that one , wouldn't rule any series result out yet with 4/4 road wins so far.

Not sure what Todd says to his guys at the first intermission but these Sharks are an awesome unit in this 2nd period these days and seem to get mentally stronger as the game progresses which is contrary to last year , good test of their new resolve to see if they can wrap it up on home ice in game 6 with 3/4 road wins in the series so far.

Can understand the thinking that Hawks have too much momentum for Canucks at the moment with a 12-2 scoreline over the last couple of games , not big on that theory myself in this sport and it's likely Canucks have the personnel to start afresh in game 6 with an effective road game plan and test Hawks to see what they have left after a couple of perfect performances , can't see myself having a bet but would imagine game 6 to be tight and nervy with the need for Hawks to win 3 elimination games in succession a tall order and rarely done.

Can't wait to find out  Happy

Doc - I get 3mb for £15 a month - probably get to watch about 90 minutes a night if I'm lucky and as I only need to use it for 9 shifts every 5 weeks its fine.  It would be £35 a month for unlimited usage which I would pay if I needed too.  I suppose it depends how much you are betting - I also follow the Argie football at nights so it works for me anyway.

Only advice/proviso I would give is that you must have a mast close at hand.  During busy times I think proximity to the mast is the deciding factor in how good your speed is - at least thats what their helpdesk say.  In that respect I'm lucky.

I've not decided what to do tonight - both of these match-ups are very difficult to call....

Interesting racingguru the goalie rotation really has worked (whether it be motivation or just a rest for Luongo).  However, with 2 games to go in the series there can be no mistakes and I cannot see Alain taking that risk now.

Despite my concerns I agree with previous posters that we should not get too hung up on the last two games.  Vancouver ar a better team and psychologically this will have had it in their head that they dont really need to win those games.

Minds will be focuses today and I think they will win in Chicago.

Going to spend some time considering the games tonight.  I have some strong opinions tonight and will post shortly.  Very interested in what others views are tonight.

Tonights bet for me is Nashville to chalk one away from home.  Good luck if you are playing.

Crazy start in Philly and the flyers caught napping.  However 2-0 is easily overcomable so will have a fun bet on the comeback.

Good luck.

PS more i look more I like the canucks.  I am all in on SuShockednday

Afternoon chaps

Some quality stuff again last night and that Bruins game is what the play-offs are all about for me with goals hard to come by together with just about every emotion shown , from a sport perspective nice to see both Stamkos and Penner contributing and who knows what effect that may have on their team prospects over the next few days.

Been looking over the play-off scores to date and measuring up how any theories have performed over the 39 games played so far.....

Home ice advantage ????
So far there have been 16 home wins as opposed to 23 on the road , in the preview we suggested home ice shouldn't be a criteria for value and questioned whether home ice is indeed an advantage , think the evidence so far is that some teams are far more comfortable on the road and can adopt a game plan better suited to both benefit themselves and upset the opposition , it's a case of picking the teams you think qualify and some of the performances by teams on the road following a home loss adds to the evidence.

Game 3 theory ????
Not really given a chance to test it out so far with a win and a loss after discounting the Coyotes game with all their troubles off the ice and the spanking by Wings , see how it pans out in round 2.

Game 4 theory ????
The suggestion here was to swerve the lot due to the quirky nature depending on the series status , here are the 8 scorelines from round 1 in game 4...
Hawks 7 Canucks 2
Yotes 3 Wings 6
Rangers 3 Caps 4
Tampa 2 Pens 3
Habs 4 Boston 5
Kings 3 Sharks 6
Pred's 3 Ducks 6
Sabres 1 Flyers 0
personally I think there's sufficient in those results to justify swerving game 4 , even the goals markets have an odd read really with bundles of goals in the 2 games you'd expect low scores , namely at Montreal & Rangers.

Eliminators ????
Always worth treating the eliminator games differently as it's potentially the final game of the season for one team so it's normally a case of leaving any blood on the ice with game plans out of the window if you need to chase for survival , 6 eliminators so far...
Hawks 7 Canucks 2
Canucks 0 Hawks 5
Yotes 3 Wings 6
Pens 2 Tampa 8
Caps 3 Rangers 1
Sharks 1 Kings 3
half a dozen games full of shocks , odd goal totals and crazy hockey played by at least one desperate team , most interesting thing is that apart from the Coyotes game the other 5 have all produced survival performances to prolong the series , for eliminators clearly expect the unexpected.

Total goal markets ???
No surprise here for me based on previous seasons and expectations , so far in 39 games there's been 19 unders v 20 overs , looks a fairly obvious stat that comes out in the wash at first glance but when you split the games into 2 parts it tells the more realistic story , opening 19 games when teams were feeling their way and in many cases waiting for mistakes rather than having to make anything happen there were 12 unders v 7 overs , for the last 20 games when teams have been forced to chase games due to the series status there's been 7 unders v 13 overs , a complete reversal of the trend but understandably so when gameplan and mentalities have been frequently thrown out of the window.

Can't say much about bookmaker opportunities on here for fear of a forum ban but as previously stated always worth looking at the special bets available , good example last night after banging on about how effective Sharks were in the 2nd period , they lost the game last night but still won the 2nd period . there's loads out there.

I've banged on a bit guys but the above is for reading between the lines and see what may suit your own strategy at a certain time with nothing an exact science or set in stone , easy for me to come up with all this nonsense in all honesty as Hockey & Tennis are a full time punting occupation for me , so plenty of time on my hands for analysis.

Good luck for the rest of the play-offs  Happy

Hey everyone. Hope things are going well. With the Canucks reeling lately have really tried to avoid sports/hockey all together until they drop the puck for the next game. It's funny, when they're winning I can't get enough. When they are losing, I don't want to hear about it.

I've actually bet Chicago the last couple games and have been laying Vancouver on the series market at some low prices so even if they blow it at least I come out with a bit of money.

Good luck on any plays today. Im leaning towards Buffalo and Nashville but will not bet them. I am on Chicago ML, though.

Great game in Buffalo, shame to have a loser in this series and both teams look very even.  Thought Philly just getting on top in the third so suspect they make nick it in OT.

Huge night for me, I think Vancouver need to win tonight to have a chance of taking the overall cup.  It would send such a message that when up against in terms of pressure and momentum this could win in chicago aainst their nemesis.

I am not looking at trends, form, stat or anything else for this one.  I just have a gut feeling they will win tonight.  Fingers crossed I am right and it is not just the legacy of my king prawn tikka Vindaloo earlier.

Well done any winners but I am not happy.  Think Vancouver deserved to win this games and were very unfortunate not to. I could write a page on the luck that went against them last night but I dont have the inclination.

Anyway need to look at the positives, a wonderful game 7 to look forward to and unlike the pervious 2 games we have shown them we  are the better team.

Back tomorrow for the big one.

Compulsive viewing Swardean that's for sure , the only thing I was fairly sure about before puck drop was to completely forget about the performances in the last couple of games although it still looked a very difficult prediction , the puck just went Hawks way last night for sure and without that we wouldn't have a classic decider to look forward to tomorrow.

Most interesting fact about the results last night after the post yesterday about the findings to date was that the 3 games all produced overs  Happy

Now I guess I have to put a serious amount on Chicago in game 7. tbh though I cant think of an amount I could win that cancels out the pain of losing this series.

The way the lost last night (and I have to admit I didnt see the entire game because of easter dinner) gives me a bit more hope going into game 7. Had they been blown out again I would give them no chance tomorrow night but from the sounds of it they played pretty well and could have easily taken game 6. Will be at baseball Tuesday night and truthfully I am a bit happy I have something else to occupy my time.

Going to avoid betting any other series today or tomorrow and focus on how to approach game 7.

Hope some others are enjoying this Kings v Sharks game.  A cracker and parallels of last night with Sharks going ahead 3 times and home side levelling to take it to overtime.  Huge shift in play though with Kings outplayed in the first 30 mins but coming back strong in 2nd half.

As a neutral I would love a kings win here for the only reason it would set up yet another classic game 7.  Another great game to look forward to.  However, going into OT its impossible to call.

Off work for a week now so more late nights staring with game 7 in Vancouver tonight!!!!

Extraordinary game in one of the most entertaining series for a good while for me , that 5 min PK after the McGinn rush of blood at that stage of the game showed a resolve that was missing from the Sharks of 2010 giving Jumbo the chance to deliver a telling play-off moment at last , 2 things that didn't surprise last night as we've chatted about the last few days were Sharks winning the 2nd period and elimination overs yet again.
As for Kings i've said more than once this season that however far Kings progress this season they will be better equipped in 2012 , given equal luck with injuries e.t.c next season they are a huge player to lift the trophy and any fancy prices available early doors should be taken.

A potentially amazing triple header tonight to come   Happy

Yes I agree the sharks are the better team overall and deserve to progress.  Throughout the games I always had the feeling that sharks were had another gear if needed and the Kings had to be at their best to match sharks.  Roll on tonight!!

I'd probably take issue with the statement that the Sharks were the better team in that series. Two OT wins, and a miracle comeback, and a win when LA were having the best of it until an unlucky deflection broke the deadlock causing LA to fall apart with SJ quickly scoring another two putting the game to bed.

On the other hand LA won their two in a canter (although Quick was exceptional in that 3-1 win) and obviously should never have lost a 4-0 start which effectively broke them.

Was a great (and very close contest), but i think LA will look back on it and wonder how they got lost 4-2. Only my view, and i might be biased having backed LA. Plain

LA a definite play for me in 2012, will take the odds as soon as the markets up. A young and talented lot for sure.

Hi CJ, I will bow to your view as to be honest I have only seen two of the matches in full and have relied on the media summarises and shot totals.  I think everyone does agree though that they will be a factor next year.

It's a fine line between success and failure for sure CJ and most series could turn out differently with some puck luck along the way , you clearly have a good insight into the game though mate and sure it would benefit everyone to see you posting more frequently.

Good luck to you Vancouver boys tonight and i'm sure you don't need a bet to be staying up all night , my own take on the game is a hunch rather than any statistical view or feel , I can relate the big comeback to my other sport of tennis with the 2-0 sets back to 2-2 and then the expected momentum takeover , sport rarely seems to work out that way and for me the monumental energy required by Chicago to claw back to 3-3 could really tell on them tonight and i'm half expecting a comfortable night for Canucks.

Having said the above it's still a no bet game for me , good luck guys  Happy

I tend to think that the Kings were just not mentally as strong as the Sharks - it was a fabulous series and I'm personally gutted by the result, but in my opinion the best team has probably just gotten through - and I believe that the ghosts of losing a 4-0 lead play really heavily on a side.  You can only come back from the dead so many times (9 for cats I think it is Grin)

I agree wholeheartedly with CJ in wanting to closely examine the opening prices for next year - the Kings will be near the top of my list.

I'm with Flyers tonight but can't stay up as hitting golf course early - just think Phili looked to have much better legs in last 20 minutes last time, and hoping they are patient tonight.  Leaving the game in Montreal as already have an interest in Boston and I have an opinion on THE game but will not print for fear of being lynched..... Laugh

Swardean, I know you like your S American football, I cannot see how Gremio do not win the first leg of their knockout round match against Catolica tonight - opinion only.

Evening folks. I don't post too often as i'm often working away and then trying to catch up on games two or three days later without knowing the outcome. With the UK press ignoring NHL, it's very easy to avoid results but reading the forum will blow that tactic!

Almost a day past now and i'm still very grumpy about last nights defeat. I will concede that the Sharks were mentally tougher. In game 4, that one unlucky goal conceded and you could see the heads go down, LA take a stupid double minor, concede and boom the games dead.

What a game tonight, my heart wants the Nucks, but my head tells me they're done and i should be piling into a Hawks win. No way on earth VC win now. I hope i'm wrong. I've a friend in VAN and she tells me the whole town knows what's coming.
