It went exactly as I predicted thanks to my own minor contribution.

Wildman I thought you said the horse tried? Mark Bolger had to tell a tale that he just gave the horse a bad ride to get Jessie off. Cop out but I'm sure he will be looked after.

I thought the horse tried,I thought they should appeal and was delighted to see the appeal upheld.

The horse didn't try. Anybody with eyeballs in their head can see what happened. Why didn't Bolger admit to it being a bad ride on the day? Would that not have saved a lot of hassle?

It was upheld only to a point,he still got 4 days and lost his appeal deposit,as you say TTK he carried the can but still a raw deal to me.

Under strict instructions not to appeal.

The fine will be paid for her.

That has already been explained.

I thought the horse tried, thought the sentence was wrong and told that to someone attached to the stable at the Curragh, that's what I was told.

Obviously my argument was so persuasive that they changed their policy and were right to do so.

To be fair to Borneo he raises a good pint about DJ's useage of overnight prices...DJ did raise a kerfuffle about Pa using them in the competition.

That said, lets get on with it as things stand.  It's great to see lads measuring their P and L here, should be the default approach really.

Hopefully Jessie sends you one of the bottles of Armagnac that Nicky Henderson will be gifting the house with this week as thanks. Should go well with the Pimozide.

Wonks, this is The Masters competition...there is a Municipal course (i.e other thread) across the road for lesser lights who just throw up a rake of horses with no staking plan.

365 will have laid Charbel for €150 at 8/1 to a normal account last night. I am not sure if the limits are increased for Punchestown or not, but €150 would be standard and might be more as the liability was usually £1000 which was €1,200 for a while, but may be greater now with the sterling much stronger against the euro.

Charbel was also available at 8/1 with Ladbrokes, William Hill and Betfair Sports last night. Granted that Hills lay unrestricted accounts to lose probably no more than €500 - 600 euro, but an unrestricted Ladbrokes can surely have availed of at least €100 at 8/1. No idea with the Sportsbook as everyone I know has a max bet of nil.

There was plenty to get on at 8/1 last night on Charbel if you have the accounts and it might have been more if limits were increased for Punchestown. The average punter is not betting in excess of €200 the night before, so if these selections are being picked up by the average punter, he is probably happy with the price and bet he has struck.

Midlight looked a promising sort on debut. Didn't really know what was expected of him that day. Was a poor race, but I would expect much better today. 5-4 looks worth a bet. 3.20 Wolves.

No doubt His Imperialness will deign to appear at some point and explain away the cloying stench of hypocrisy that now sadly engulfs his entries on this thread.

Well known for his soapbox positions on early prices on threads of this sort and also his pontificating on tips without explanation, he duly proceeds to publicly impale himself on his principles.

How much did anyone get on Yorkhill at 2s early doors with 365?  My account with them is a log time closed so I cannot speak for their recent habits, but the fact is only the Sportsbook priced up beside them.  Paddy's were next to price up and opened at 5/4.  I would be surprised if 365 took a decent bet off anybody at 2s

None of the above would really matter if His Imperialness hadn't made such a point of labouring such issues in the past.

Perhaps he is on the wind up.  Or perhaps his principles have been cast aside in an attempt to stroke his own ego.

0pts return from 10pts staked. Not a very promising start. With the level of confidence behind him, Oscar Knight could have been one that got away. Won't get a chance to punt him at that price again in such a weak race.

Onto the middle day of the Festival:

4:50 - Keep On Track 0.5pts e/w @ 16/1 (PP 1/5 Odds 3 Places)
5:30 - Hurricane Fly 4pts win @ 5/2 (WH & Ladbrokes)
6:05 - Roll It Out 1.5pts e/w @ 10/1 (PP 1/4 Odds 5 Places)
7:05 - Hannahs Princess 2pts win @ 5/1 (PP)

Today could have been better, had banked Identity Thief and Figaro Flyer at various stages of their races. Unfortunately what goes on in my head doesn't determine the pay out!!

3pts e.w Ned Buntline 6-1

6pts Hurricane Fly 5-2

1.2pt e.w Phare Isle 16-1 (5 places)

3pts e.w Newsworthy 11-2

Will add Hannahs Princess at anything over 5s. 13-2 at mo with BFSB.

You will have to wait until July 27th in Ballybrit to get the FF dough back callit. He ran a cracker and would likely have won if Pipes had been ridden by any other amateur.

He be long odds on if he attends the Monday bumper TTK. There will be better ones to be had that week. He wouldn't have the profile of DKWs usual runner in that race. Rarely come with racecourse form.

Codd very strong.

Sometimes but not always Callit. Fort Defiance had a run before there as had one that won in green colours few years back. Silver Concorde got beat on his 2nd run in it. I'd be surprised if he doesn't turn up on the Monday evening. He will most likely be very short alright bar theres a viable WPM contender.

Cul Baire of Bolger's, the horse that beat him looked a hell of a prospect to me. never saw a Hurdle I don'ty think but ran in plenty of good Flat races picking up a few.

I would know someone close to the yard and he didn't think much of the horse at all as a 4yo despite the horse carrying a rep. Same fella said he was the biggest certainty to ever look through a bride when he won at leopardstown 18 months later. Improved out of all recognition in between times.

Think he only won once after at Leop Neill. But a surprise he never went over hurdles. Considering his bumper win, and a rating of prob near 90, he would have been of interest.

He grew a fair bit in them 18 months TTK. Was only a pony at Galway.

Rememebr him running in a distance race at royal Ascot but completely pulling his chance away having been prominent.

The fact he never hurdled astounded me Callit. Dunno where he ended up, would be interested.
