... Few spots of rain atm and looking more overcast than yesterday.

Going back to yesterday why do discussions like this have to be secretive? People disagree, that's life. It seems that racing very much likes to hide things away. Just play it out to everyone, at least it would avoid idle speculation.

.... Exactly what Chapman was saying, there shouldnt people in the crowd asking what is going on.
I have an idea he may have ruffled a few gravy Trainers feathers, good on him for that imo. |

Oh I was watching and thought that racing had been replaced by Carry On Film.
My comment is a reference to him and his cronies saying absolutely nothing regarding The JukeboxMan and his bad run in the Gold Cup on the Opening Show and the day of the race by not asking about the setback he’d had. It’s all in the Cheltenham section with a thread that put up. He mentioned every horse that ran in the Gold Cup except Harry’s, he, Rishi the rest they ducked it. |

By:
... Ah ok, nothing to do with Chester.
By:
No it’s to do with your comment about him ruffling the gravy train feathers. When he could have asked pertinent questions he and the rest kept stum.
Makes you wonder how often it happens. He started out as a guy who’d give outlandish statements and opinions sometimes (like when he famously said Pour Moi can’t win the Derby) , now he’s happy to play the clown and collect his paycheck. Enjoy your racing today. |

Chapman wishes to remain in employment and cannot just say what he likes.
Nevertheless,he is very good at his job. |
By:
If asking about a setback and respiratory problem that was reported in the Guardian is too risqué then he’s not very good at his job at all.

According to Hoyles ground faster than yesterday, they have moved the rails so what fkn distances are we racing over today?
By:
And Murphy described it as genuinely good to soft!
By:
2 seconds below standard. Good to soft PMSL
By:
It’s a joke and ripping it out of us all! Maybe someone can ask again quoting that?!

on inner line today cropsick

By:

By:
Strung out like 3m chasers.
Kicking up big divots. Winner by Galiway whose only 2 wins came on...soft ground. |
By:
under std again 2nd race impossible to be soft ground
By:
wouldn't fancy running anything on this
By:
Is it possible they moved the rail or something and distances aren't correct? The times and the kick back makes no sense
By:
That's what I'm thinking...and with this clerk of the course, anything is possible.
By:
Is the distance of each race physically measured at the start of each day?
Or is it merely based on historical markers on the course that have been there for donkey's years? |
By:
Hoiles said they have moved the rail in and it’s shortened up a bit, slightly less distance covered.
So the trip 1 m 1/2 is on the short side for Lambourn and even more so with the movement. |
By:
In that case, I await someone with mathematical prowess to unravel what the ground is really like...
By:
It’s shat!
Await away and expect to see a lot more of this malarkey throughout the summer! ![]() |

I'm trying to get into the flat after 25 years watching the jumps (I find the breeding side of the flat quite interesting).
But yesterday's debacle has certainly dampened my enthusiasm. |
By:
after wet winter they won't have done much watering
mostly dry spring has left it firm underneath the top few inches imo |
By:
Great run from Bay City giving that weight when he wants the ground proper soft, they’ll hope for cut in the coronation.
Fair enough Joh they have tended to do this watering stuff more and more lately. |
By:
inner lines today so normal std times
thurs rail out 4-7yds...13-35 yds extra depending on race dist...adds approx 1-2s to std weds rail out 7yds...25-48 yds extra depending on race dist...adds approx 2s to std |
By:
they have tended to do this watering stuff more and more lately
its gone fkin loopy |
By:
Agree totally, George Scott said he’s waiting and waiting for soft so was surprised to see Bay City take his chance with the times as they are.
York was the same last year mud splattering in high summer ![]() |

By:
they could learn a lot from france etc IF you are going to water you overwater well in advance several days before any meeting & you water as infrequently as possible
By:
........and you can predict to English weather wondersbright?
By:
I can read weather apps
By:
this problem has nothing to do with the weather it was caused by the watering volume & timing
