Racing Post reports: "Some insight from ITV, with Matt Chapman speaking to several trainers and jockeys on the ground."
Too much to expect the trade rag to have its own reporters at the main meeting of the day? |
By:
Did any trainers comment on the ground yesterday?
I don't think clerks of the course should just cater for a small group of elite trainers. Flat racing in May on good to firm ground should suit most horses. If not, Aidan et al. can always take them to France. |
By:
jockeys were reporting it was g/f & that was backed up by times
no reason for clerk of course to be involved except to change the going description to g/f |
By:
Frog going descriptions are as reliable as the weather
By:
The cynical would say they will run three races then abandon to avoid refunds.
By:
Trainers run horses on fast ground,Breeders Cup springs to mind.

Where are these clerk of the courses trained. Been in grass preperation for years.Watering on dry ground will not sink in .Lays on top and make grass slippery. HOLOTINE FIRST.Meercat simples

Should not be watering to ensure good ground (probably softer) IN MAY! This is flat racing and its the Summer. Good to firm is perfectly fine. Stop pandering to welfare!!!

...and encourages shallow rooting...

If it is abandoned does it mean that I have won the ITV7 for the first time, might 4p per winner after the first.

Watch John Egans next mount, if he wants it on, maybe he fancies, may have a few bob win + 4pl
By:
omg, sounds like it will get called off. CofC will get some stick considering the ground was fine GF yesterday. Why don't they cancel the next 5f race and try the 1m2f listed race, not many runners in that.

It is astonishing the level of expertise in racecourse ground management displayed by the keyboard warriors on this thread.

It just got better

Damn stewards room looks like a funeral.

By:
I hope they are not watching onlyfans.
By:
surely if the grounds u snsafe today ,its unsafe tomorrow whether it be because of sand, watering, overnight rain,as they,ll still be flying around the bends and you can slip at chester on a bend even if the ground is perfect,so do they abandon again if one slips in the 1st
By:
pretty obvious to me that they are riddled with fear of a horse breaking down in a race, especially a high profile meeting. the sport eating itself as usual.
By:
ITV have done a pretty good job of filling the time.
By:
just make a decision ffs taking far too long this
By:
1 hour & counting

You’re right Alien Moore got a slapped arse face, looks like he got a toothache holding his chops like that!
![]() Said earlier just scrap the next sprint it’s like the weetabix advert lower standards here in the UK. |
By:
Another fack up the CoC imo. There was nothing wrong with good to fast ground and they have made it unsafe. Shambles.
By:
Ckerks of courses, totally untrustworthy bunch of shysters.
By:
Cutting the Grass, but leaving the loose grass on done that not make it WORST ! ???
By:
yeh but what happens if they race tomorrow and a horse slips, which probably happens at every meeting at chester
By:
DOES !
