Good luck with him, despite the past records he really should be winning getting 3lb.

Maximized could be a commonwealth cup horse or go for the 7f Jeresy Ascot, there’s enough 7f races at Meydan during the Carnival for him to have run in but he was kept a 6f.
His last run at Newmarket wasn’t great so I’d be disappointed if he could beat his stable mate here and is surely there to set the pace and try help Talk Of relax and settle.

We’ll Talk Of New York (Glas’ early doors selection)  did the business as expected today and keeps Applby’s fine record going at HQ.

I noted that he seemed to misstep slightly 4F out, a fast run Guineas might catch him out, though the time was decent today.

Godolphin are now filling up the market :

Talk Of New York 5/1

Kings Trail been blue all morning and is into 8/1

Joined by Distant Storm @ 8/1

The two Craven runners for them are Hidden Force (top price 16/1) and Varian’s Avicenna has also been blue all morning into as low as 20/1

Hawk Mountain is waiting for them there and is surely a line for O’Brien who’s P.Rico has shortened into as low as 13/2 looks their main pick.

Not looking like the other pair were pulled out by mistake now! Confused

Big day today with the Craven, no threads for it yet which is disappointing and young Albert has been declared for the Greenham with Moore jumping from Title Role for the Crisfords with his mount now wearing a hood for 1st time! Shocked

Horses that haven’t trialled now sit at the top of the market, take the fav out and it’s 6/1 the field when it was 8/1 before Chelts!

An open race!

“Different approach this year in having two in the main trials here, sighters?“ / answer NO

Will be something as 14 or 16 days between the trials, is it too much to bring a horse back and forth over that period?

Cheers Weaver was negative about him today, as you know I’m against Bow and nothing I’ve seen has changed it.

Gosden got in a little wind up there today, but what was he saying last year going into the Guineas after Field Of Gold had hacked up in the Craven?

Answer

John Gosden is keen to respect the opposition as his Craven Stakes hero Field Of Gold attempts to end his Betfred 2000 Guineas hoodoo at Newmarket today.

The Clarehaven handler has yet to win the first Classic of the summer, but has an outstanding chance of claiming that elusive piece of silverware when the son of Kingman bids to become the first colt to complete the Craven Stakes/2000 Guineas double since Haafhd in 2004.

"There are a lot of horses coming in to the race that have had away days at the Curragh or somewhere else and they are the ones I will always respect as you never know how much they have improved," said Gosden, who trains Field Of Gold alongside his son Thady.

"They have good form at two and if they have improved dramatically over winter, they could be a surprise package – it’s not like everyone has shown their hand, they haven’t. I will be very interested to see how those horses look in the paddock and they could be the main dangers.

"Then there is the horse who has raced in Dubai this year (Ruling Court) who looks a very talented horse and he’s fully tuned, he’s another to watch out for. I will be very interested to see how those horses look in the paddock and they could be the main dangers, the ones who haven’t run in a trial in Europe this year."

He’s had a right old bubble with his interview today!

I do not think Oxagon can win The 2000G. Unless Mr Gosden has something better Oxagon will not be the year for his 1st 2000G winner, I firmly believe.

Oxagon is Jockey Club bound Impossible and the old fox might have changed tact this year and taken a leaf from those that he spoke of last year.

He has a line to the current fav through one of his Publish and that one has lines of form that put him well ahead of the current fav!

Needs to make the gig but is far too big on current offers on all that we’ve seen.

I think this year will be "follow the money" for those desperate to bet on The 2000G. I think I'll skip both Guineas unless Zavateri is a convincing winner on saturday.

How do you assess the performance of the King's horse in the Wood Ditton compared to Oxagon in the Craven, taking into account the times and weights carried?
By:
Delashay
When: 16 Apr 26 18:56
Johann I don’t do all those calculations, the handicapper is there for that.

Looked great on the eye, though when asked by Chappers if his well backed (supposedly) horse was a machine, Appleby replied I don’t think that he’s a machine but he’s nice and we’ll see how he matches up.

Gosden thought his was second fav and was surprised that it drifted it seemed but said that there wasn’t anything between them in their gallops, the JCB owners horse he said worked better.

I’ll wait until I see how the form looks before even thinking of what price I’d take.

Looking back at last years odd before the Craven had been run Field Of Gold had been 25/1 for Guineas glory.

Publish is now 9/2?  Looks awfully off to me.

From the Sun

FIRST there was 25-1, then 6-1, then 5-1, 3-1 and eventually 11-4 – bookies simply could not keep up with the surge of cash for John Gosden’s new 2000 Guineas favourite.

AI Overview
Field Of Gold was priced at 25-1 for the 2000 Guineas before his dominant victory in the Craven Stakes. Following his impressive performance in the 2025 Craven Stakes, bookmakers slashed his odds to 3-1, making him the favourite.

So either this horse has grown and filled out over the winter and is battering FOG on the gallops or they having a laugh or a bit of both!

I’ve added this for memory sake and comparison :

Field of Gold (121p from 110p) propelled himself to the head of Timeform's three-year-old ratings with an impressive victory in the Craven Stakes at Newmarket that marks him out as the one to beat in the 2000 Guineas. Field Of Gold earned a Timeform rating of 121p, narrowly passing the benchmark set by Shadow Of Light who was Timeform's champion juvenile last season with a rating of 120.

Field Of Gold, winner of the Solario Stakes at two, had ended his juvenile campaign with a rating of 110p but showed much-improved form on his reappearance in the Craven to comfortably quicken three and a half lengths clear of Royal Lodge winner Wimbledon Hawkeye.

The only Craven winners who have been rated higher after the race in the last decade are Native Trail (122p) and Masar (123) who both went on to finish placed in the 2000 Guineas. Field Of Gold's victory continues a fine spring for owners Juddmonte who have also been successful with talented colts Cosmic Year (111P) and Jonquil (112p), and landed the Nell Gwyn at Newmarket with improving filly Zanzoun (104p from 84p).

There has to be a lurker in the field at bigger odds, the Craven entries will tell us lots especially regarding Applybys runners.

He’s a very young foal 10th May so would be good to see him in the paddock, has been weak all morning, if it goes in or runs well there’s a line to one in the Greenham, but young Albert shows there wearing the scourge or society A Hoody! Grin

Zaverteri beat Gasstad but looked more a two year old, jockey said on ATr that he didn’t like the quick ground in the Dewhurst, but was it the track?  I’d think not because he handled Goodwood.

Morris Dancer was the horse to take from the Vintage that day despite Zav giving the weight. It was a learning curve for the colt.

Bow Echo has beaten Publish 1 L over 7f

Beaten Humidity 1 L over a mile

Diamond Jonny G knows this

Field of Gold was rated 110 going into the Craven

Morris Dancer was/is rated 110 without having had a prep run, an alternative route for Gosden, but as he said it’s an open year.

No word on this colt despite beating Humidity with ease at Goodwood and narrowly going down to Zav having made up most ground.

Missed work before that race at Goodwood and battered A Bit Of Spirit over a mile at Salisbury a course perfect to prep for Newmarket.

A Bit Of Spirit beat Humidity a short head!

But v little chat about him.

Has drifted on here and has looked a non runner, I wrote that I thought he’d be their only runner because of his run in the Dewhurst but it’s looking iffy if the betting is anything to go by Johann. That often yo -yos with this lot!

AOB made the point of saying that Ryan was in the Colt during those gallops at the Curragh, I posted his comments and suggested that he was leading punters whilst still remaining conveniently vague.

As for me not betting is it worth keeping on with that? Silly

I’ve had two bets in the race. One is non runner that backed at bigger odds and  I layed when it shortened and I saw it drift and flip from being fav with Bow Echo before the news came out about his set back.

I’ve stated that I think that Gosden has claims to have a runner that is well over priced in all known form, what we don’t know is the colts wellbeing or target?
But through Publish he has a line Bow Echo and with Oxagon he has lines to the others.

Oxagon was 5 1/2 behind Distant Storm in their maiden, that gap was closed to a length in the Dewhurst when Gosden was disappointed with his run that day.

So despite the Dewhurst form being franked I’m not keen on Distant Storm for those reasons, the colt was also beaten twice by Gewan and I’m not sure that he’s their best. If Gewan was showing he’d have to reverse that form with him.

I thought Gasstd overraced in the Dewhurst and was the one to take from the race, Soumi took a hard pull on him after he left the stalls.

I think that Gosden holds the key to the Guineas in terms of form.

I’m waiting to see the field and then I’ll show you a formline that I found that might surpass the Dewhurst.

It’s always risky taking lines on face value but it might point to something special, it certainly looks better than beating Humidity by a 1 L.

He’s a May foul and that would be rare for one that late to win, but he does look well built, a different type to Avicenna who looked a lot lighter yesterday.
I always got the vibe that thy thought that Rayif was their best of the two, he he looked good when beating Andab in the Boutin.

He missed his comeback in the Fontenbleu because he was outworked (or so they say) by Narissa who was second in the Grotte.

I’m not too old to learn I should add.

I mentioned Field of Gold’s rating 110 last year because of the direct comparison that could be made with his colt this year pre trial or Guineas run.
