Any comments George on what Timeform said? Should have won 2 lengths, and don’t forget they have all of the data.

So too does Captain Angus on The Verdict, and according to the clock, Ruling Court was quicker over three of the last four furlongs, so he was using gas while FOG was conserving his, and the winner probably paid the price for that inside the final furlong, which allowed FOG to run a quicker final furlong.

In their careers to date, Ruling Court has run a sub-eleven second furlong, FOG has yet to. The clock points to Ruling Court being a faster horse.

so that's his conclusion that FOG was left with too much to do because of this...

Field Of Gold ended up doing all his best work in the final furlong which he ran according to the RaceIQ data in 11.92 seconds compared to Ruling Court’s 12.13 and third-placed Shadow Of Light’s 12.29.

well how about look at the 6f-7f sectional graeme
then amalgamate for last 2f
and finishing speed %

then report your findings

Using new updated sectional upgrade methodology currently being trialled at Timeform, that difference is a 7lb higher upgrade than Ruling Court for the same section and 11lb higher than Shadow Of Light; weighted upgrades across each of the last three furlongs would still have Field Of Gold emerging as the best horse with his 13lb upgrade 4lb higher than Ruling Court’s and 5lb higher than Shadow Of Light’s.

so they base 2 lengths on trial data and give no credence to the fact that the winner might have found more if challenged earlier by FOG
Shoemark has been thrown under the bus imo, its ruthless game but think he deserved an opportunity to put things right on FOG imo

7lb sectional upgrade for the 2nd to the winner you're implying 1/3-2/7 that form be turned around under the same conditions
gl with that

There was nothing clever about Buicks ride, he was using gas because he was forced too as the horse wasn't travelling as well and would have lost ground if Buick had sat still. He therefore was forced to begin to shovel on the coal and the horse responded, he then created the momentum and that coupled with FOG's delay in winding up, when Shoemark finally asked the horse, opened up the gap that won the race.

Shoemark could have begun to wind up his horse earlier but he could not resist sitting still on a horse that was travelling, he couldn't see past the"if it ain't broke don't fix it approach" but he didn't understand that it might be broke, he didn't compute the slower pace meaning it might be hard to pick them up late, he didn't compute the faster ground might affect his horse going into the dip, he moved all of his chips into the middle betting on his horse picking up immediately and it cost him his job.

Surely when your main danger comes on your outside you try to go with it. Instead he waited until the winner was 3 lengths in front! I had no betting interest, just watching the replay several times. By his own admission, Shoemark was over confident.

A complete overreaction to the ride. I get it, plenty were on at a tidy price Ante post and when you see your selection running on late in the day and it doesn't quite get there, its frustrating. I honestly believe he gave the horse every chance to win if good enough though
By:
sageform
When: 07 May 25 15:32
He thought he was on the best horse and could make his move when he wanted but at that level it does not work. If he had moved to Buick's quarters 3 furlongs down he might have won on the bridle and even if the horse had not gone past, at least he would have given it a chance. Sitting that far back ensured that he had no possible chance.

I also think FOG was a touch keen and KS did well to get a bit of cover and settle him. RC on the other hand settled much better and got into a nice rhythm early doors. Connections are guilty of a kneejerk reaction IMO

If a footballer after a game held his hands up and said he made some poor decisions and had a poor game I'm not sure many watching would say the manager is wrong after dropping him in the next game, and on top of that say the player himself is wrong and actually had a great game?

No wonder the politicians in this country are useless, you only have to read the jockey apologists on here to know they just ignore what they can see with their own eyes , come up with their own script

Or just cherry pick anything that will agree with their point of view and ignore the jockey, Timeform, the trainer, no doubt the owners, laughable really.

Not a fan of Timeform. But if what the player says is what I saw then that's all I need to know tbh. He seems a decent lad unlike a lot of them so best of luck to him going forward. Ps, he's no Keane...

A bit harsh on the lad. It would be nice to see him pip one of Johnny G’s on the line in a big race.
