The sad thing is that was inches from being a brilliant ride.....I feel sorry for Shoemark because i am a massive fan.

Yes all day long…..totally different scenario with the climb….Jockey admits he spent too much time being confident…

Gosden said he’s Ascot bound

St James Palace is the daddy of all for milers imo…

Juddmonte had been after Eddery for a while - Starkey retained the Dancing Brave ride in the Eclipse, and the signing of Eddery was finalised between the Eclipse and King George. Same would have happened even  if Starkey had won the Derby on him, and again if the horse had not existed.

He's got more chance of meeting Shadow of Light again, than Ruling Court
in that,I'd imagine.

Impossible statement to make with any certainty Ace , you don't know the ground is like for like , whether either horse has improved by Xlbs or as ever whether any or both of the jockeys will ride to the best of their ability which is something even the jockeys themselves don't know pre-race.

Whatever the result if meeting in the future will very likely prove nothing regarding last Saturday.

Fred is hoping RC goes for triple crown if so won't be meeting FOG again.

"There is no fallout but it is the ramifications of what happened over the weekend. We'll now use the best available. Kieran is riding for us in the Cheshire Oaks today and he'll be riding for us in the Musidora at York next week."

I agree with Whippin Piccadilly, not much wrong with the ride, horse just didn't pick up as quickly as the winner, 2f was plenty of time if he was the faster horse.

Read what Timeform says, they believe that  Field of Gold should have won 2 lengths with a proper ride, I would say that sealed his fate

Fair enough, he just looked outpaced to me, when RC made his move. Hopefully we will find out in the St James's Palace, is RC really going to run in the Derby?
By:

would not agree about Ruby's Profit. The market told you the winner had a lot in hand and Shoemark did all he could by grabbing the lead. That in no way excuses the ride on FOG.

An over reaction in a cut throat industry. If the Gosdens had been in charge of Man Utd when Fergie was struggling, Utd would have won nothing. Good luck Kieren.

I do think it was an above average 2000gns though. The front 3 are really nice horses but they'll probably go their own way now. With RC going up in trip, FOG staying at the mile and SOL dropping in trip (The Commonwealth Cup looks tailor-made for him)

It was always going to happen, the owners only care about money and if they think what happened has potentially cost them millions it is only going to end one way.

Shoemark doesn't have the je ne sais quio, which jockeys like Marquand, Rossa,Moore possess.
Far too laid back and doesn't have the drive to win at any cost.
Talking through my pocket, but I haven't been a fan since his appointment.

Shoemark has let himself down, but nothing to do with the ride on Saturday when FOG got caught out in the dip on quick ground, but by what he said on Sunday when he was probably trying to placate and not contradict Gosden.

His original quote on the Saturday was the correct one:

"Field Of Gold travelled really well but just lost it in the Dip for a few strides and he look his time to find his feet. He stayed on well and he'll be a ten-furlong horse in time."

And for the hundredth time, anyone who thinks FOG was given too much on Saturday, here's the evidence from around 2f out that he absolutely was not.

How is it an over-reaction, Gosden has been fending this off and fighting his corner since day 1, if anything you could criticize Gosden for dithering.

He was under a lot of pressure last season after a few similar failures in big races. What ever he does on run of the mill rides, losing a Group 1 when you were outridden is not acceptable to the top owners. He let Buick come past on his outside and the race was over at that point.

Any comments George on what Timeform said? Should have won 2 lengths, and don’t forget they have all of the data.
