I thought he looked in really good order down at the start, Cobs, but that tendency to hang left could be an issue.
Hugh Taylor mentioned Marinakis as a possible for that lucrative bonus. I thought Jim Goldie would have a few lined up for it. But I think Havana Sky is the current leader with five wins. |

Havana Sky back out at Wolves tomorrow, looks to have a good chance again.

It's a rise in class for him, Cobs, but he still looked in form last time when he didn't get the clearest of runs

Yes, his best course speed figs. look well up to class 4 though. Be interesting to see how he goes in the market.

Uzincso, 1pt EW @ 20-1, 4.00 Lingfield
Uzincso is now a 9YO and hasn't won for over two years, but he showed on a few occasions last year that he can still be competitive off his reduced mark including when making the frame three times over C&D. He was a selection on last year's thread when finishing third on the latter occasion behind Bearaway (who landed a gamble for his new stable) and Crafter, so he does have work to do to reverse the form with that pair, particularly as the forecast slower surface today will put more pressure on his stamina over a trip he's yet to win over, for all he appears to stay it. However, he does have a 4lb pull in the weights with Bearaway, who furthermore doesn't have a 3lb claimer aboard this time, and although the selection meets Crafter on the same terms, that rival doesn't have the 7lb claimer on board this time for whom he's been running well under over C/D. The other factor which may enable the Uzincso to close the gap is that he was coming off a break last time and he doesn't have any great record fresh, so hopefully he's sharper for the outing. Grand Duchess Olga, 1pt EW @ 10-1, 4.00 Wolverhampton Grand Duchess Olga has been easy enough to back considering she's not much shorter in the betting now than she was last night when the odds-on Carlton was still in the field, and her jockey in this apprentice handicap Chloe Lyons is still seeking her first winner after 18 rides, but it looked a good effort on her latest start over C/D when she pulled clear with two others, who have since finished first and second back over C/D in a stronger grade (form which looks better now given the third has since finished second to the improving Carlton in a relatively valuable Chelmsford handicap). The selection's last two wins have come over two miles so doubt she'd want this 14f contest to become tactical, but she's able to race off the same mark as last time, so hopefully can give a good account granted this doesn't turn into a sprint. Light Up Our Stars, 1pt EW @ 14-1, 8.30 Wolverhampton Light Up Our Stars seemed to do well to hang on for a place on his latest start over the 8.5f trip here considering he had to do a lot of running from his widest draw in what was the quicker of the two divisions by around 1.5 seconds. The first and second have since filled the first two positions in another 8.5f contest, one of which is the James Owen-trained Forever Proud, who has won twice since (including that latter contest) and reopposes the selection on 9lb worse terms for just over a length. The downside to the selection's chance today would appear the step back up to the 9.5f trip as his best form round here has come at the shorter trip, even though he has won over 10f on turf, but a chance is taken each-way at the odds given that sizeable pull in the weights with the forecast favourite. |

Grand Duchess Olga was a third 16-1 (Industry SP) second from six selections since Saturday, and this one traded odds-on in the run having looked like she might hang on up the straight after being to the fore on a steady pace, but alas was passed was in the final strides. The other two picks were disappointing. Nothing from Uzincso on this occasion. In theory he was well positioned on the front-end in a contest that produced comparatively the worst time on the card owing to some slow fractions, but then again a 2/3f sprint might not be any good to him these days. I took a chance on Light Up Our Stars despite the longer distance having looked well in with the fav based on his latest run over 8.5f, but he was headed turning in and faded out of it. 2025 Running P/L: -10.6 pts |

Unlucky with Duchess there George, thought she was by far the likeliest winner turning in.

Three more risky ones today for Dundalk, Cobs.
Velvet Skies, 1pt EW @ 16-1, 4.00 Dundalk (4 PLACES) Velvet Skies has run well this Dundalk season a couple of times over the 7f trip, including when finishing second of 14 in October in an apprentice handicap under inexperienced claimer Terry Casey, who's back on board today and claims 10lb. The selection was dropped to today's trip of 6f on his penultimate start when sent off joint-favourite in a field of 14, but he didn't get much luck up the home straight and ended up finishing in mid-div. He disappointed on his latest start when back up to 7f, but was keen and caught wide, in a race where the winner raced solo up the perceived slower far side. It's a concern that the blinkers which he wore for those good course runs are removed, especially on this drop back in trip, but a chance is taken each-way at the odds, having gone well for Terry Casey previously. ================================================================= I selected runner-up Free Solo last week partly on the basis that his yard might be in better form now than it was for much of 2024, and I'm going to take a chance on another couple of runners from that same yard. Signor Ferrari, 1pt EW @ 25-1, 5.00 Dundalk Signor Ferrari was a selection early on last year's thread over C&D when he finished second (for a different yard), having run well here previously over 7f, so he does act at this track even though his two wins last year (7f & 10f) came on turf. He hasn't offered much in three starts back here over 7f/ 1m for Pat Murphy, including in a couple of claimers, during which time he's fallen 7lb in the weights. It does take a leap of faith to support him on the back of those three starts, but hopefully the step back up in trip off his reduced mark with his stable seemingly in better form now, can spark a better effort. Snag It, 1pt EW @ 12-1, 5.30 Dundalk (4 PLACES) Cousin Shay was quite a decisive winner here on Friday evening over the mile trip when winning in a time that was comparatively the best on the card, and he's obviously the one to beat if coping with this quick turnaround and step up in trip, but a chance is taken on Snag It at the prices. He's a C/D winner who was a selection a couple of times on last year's thread when he finished down the field, but in retrospect the first one came at a time when his yard had started on what was to be a long losing run, and the other occasion was last month when returning from nearly nine months off and not seeing his race out having been keen on the front-end, and while he can go well fresh, perhaps now as a 7/8 year old the run was needed. Hopefully that comeback run has taken the fizz out of him whilst advancing his fitness and he can take a step forward here having dropped to a rating below his C&D winning mark. |

Good theory on your 3 selections George. From the 3 races above Hasinya, Storm Eric and Jawaary are in part of a Canadian for me at much less exotic prices. Best of luck

Good luck with your 3, Jimbo. I thought Jawaary looked interesting with Nicola Burns booked, he's been inconsistent but some good runs in big fields including at Dundalk. He halved in price overnight so it would seem someone is expecting a revival today. |

Who else knew about the Pat Murphy back to form angle? Er, everyone in Ireland judging by the price collapse on Signor Ferrari. Snag It was just done on the line for third place but three of the main firms were offering 4 places, as stipulated. A good run to finish second for Velvet Skies (10p Rule 4), who funnily enough was beaten by a Pat Murphy runner. 2025 Running P/L: +22.68 pts |
