What's really going on with these so called affordability checks, it's beyond a joke and their has to be some other ulterior motive going down here, im no conspiracy theorist but.......

I've been on betfair for over 23 years, I was in my early 30's when I joined im now nearly 56, been happily playing on here minding my own business then out of the blue I get an email saying that they have given me a  deposit budget of £100 per month, I thought it was a joke, if I want to increase it I need to send all sorts of personal financial information.

I for one will not be giving them this information, and my reason is what I do with my hard earned  money is none of their business, i've got a decent disposable income and how I choose to spend it it my decision.

Thankfully I have many other interests so the money I would have spent here can be diverted elsewhere for my pleasure, I shop a lot in fortnum & mason and Harrods, I enjoy Kerridge's fish & chips.

Is this a wider issue of the stupid county, should I expect to be limited to a £100 per month the next I visit my favourite department stores.

Adios Amigos Love

£100 per month ??

as pointed out on another fred, if you buy the racing post every day for a month it will cost you roughly £150.

if you buy 1 pint of lager from a Wetherspoons every day for a month it will cost you roughly £150

but you can only spend £100 on here a month.  £100 wouldn't get you fkng night out nowadays LaughLaugh

It's because the country is so against any form of 'means testing' and the stigma associated with it, so everyone is grouped together as in need of protection.

mind boggling.  someone blows a wodge (on the fobt), the whole countrys limited to buttons (on the horses) unless they show multiple proofs of income ?

someone throws themselves in front of a train, nobodys allowed to use the tube without a letter from their psychiatrist confirming they're not suicidal ?

Absolutely disgraceful how anyone can decide how you spend your own money.

I really feel this deal is already done and they just going through the motions before everyone has to go through an affordability check.

2 years max before the exchanges are gone forever.

Great tweet here to sum up the insanity of it all:

The Barstewards Enquiry

Its a marketing disaster, the adverts are all about safer gambling, how can you market something and say its dangerous, added to that say to punters if you do win you will get closed down, thats the state of play, what are they doing?

Take the johnny-come-lately BetMGM, with the geezer who got slapped by Will Smith, most of the time on the adverts he's talking about safer gambling.

What a grate way to market a 'new' company, tell the punters their product is dangerous and potential customers need to be careful.

bookies have far too much power in this country.  all this you're banned, you're limited nonsense.  brought it in and nobody ever challenged it.  shouldn't be banning anyone for any reasons other than security.  the nature of their business means they will come up against shrewdies / winners.  it's up to them to manage that without just turning round and saying we don't like you so fk off.

can't do it in australia, why can they do it here ??

Everyone stop punting for one month and see how many accounts they would close……some people in life vote with just refusing to play…..

How do you think the old betting turnover would look without the punter playing……
By:

Just imagine the betting ring being set up and every punter just standing there looking at them refusing to play…

Office staff looking at the screens and waiting for calls and nothing happens…..

The gravy train would be having multiple @rgasms regarding headlines…..

It's the Gmabling Commission, behind the scenes, putting immense pressure on bookmakers to bring in all these checks. They are still not happy with what the bookmakers have done to date, and, if they get their own way. on the 26th. things will get significantly worse.

Bookmakers have suffered massive fines and have intoduced many safer gambling measures - but the GC are still unhappy.

The bookmakers have introduced many safer gambling triggers, like what you can spend in a day, lose in a month, lose in a year, but the GC are still not happy.

The GC is the greatest threat to punters getting a bet on in the future - If you do not want to provide ID or SOI.
By:

As TheGoddess says, blame the GC.  I don't imagine the bookies are jumping with joy at turning away punters' money.

As for all the comparisions with caramilks and pints from 'spoons - if it turned out you were dipping the till at work to fund your drinking habit, no-one would come after your local pub with fines for not knowing where your beer money was coming from - but do it to fund gambling and (a) it will be all over the press and (b) the GC will be demanding to know why the bookie had not performed source of funds checks.  We've all seen the fines handed out by the GC?
