As the name suggests, the Gambling Commission of Great Britain does not regulate gambling in Northern Ireland and, similarly, the Gambling Act 2005 does not apply to Northern Ireland. The Northern Ireland Communities Minister, Deirdre Hargey, said that reform of the current 1985 legislation was “long overdue”.
https://cms-lawnow.com/en/ealerts/2021/10/northern-ireland-gambling-laws-are-a-step-closer-to-being-updated don't know if the bill referenced in that article updated things |

By:
There are some criminal offences that cover provision and advertising of unlicensed remote gambling, from and into northern ireland, but the vast bulk doesn't apply.
|
|
By:
To be clear, the UKGC and its licensing and codes don't apply in NI.
|
|
By:
So the NI address provided above couldn't be a premises licensed by the UKGC to offer remote gambling.

I found the legislation referred to in the article above - betting contracts are now enforceable in NI (since 2022).

At the risk of having the p!ss taken out of me, I thought this would be interesting to post on here. Regarding my winning bet of £12 @ 1/12.
ME "Bet number 7060xxx5. I'd like to know were the person who settled this bet went to school. As you can see, the money is not the issue, it doesn't matter if it's 4p or 4 grand, as a reputable bookmaker you need to settle bets better than this!" REPLY You staked £12 at odds of 1.08 for this bet. Your winnings are correct. I hope this answers your question(s) however if there is anything else, please don't hesitate to contact us. Your enquiry id is 1390xxx873. Kind regards, ME No it certainly does not. If no one there can identify the mistake then it's the last you will see of me - for 4 pence! I did not place the bet at decimal odds, I placed it at fractional odds and if you don't know that £12 on a 1/12 is a win of £1 and a return of £13 then you have no right to hold a bookmaking licence. Make it right, with an apology or the accounts gone and at the risk of being ridiculed over 4pence I'll make sure the story gets posted on a few betting forums to dissuade others to ever deal with you. Regards, Lee (owed 4p) Txxxxxxx Awaiting a reply but if they can shave 4p off a winning bet of a quid then who knows what else they intentionally or unintentionally do. Best advice, give them a wide berth. |
|
By:
Got my reply, this is copied and pasted including spelling and basic English mistakes. Case closed, give them a VERY wide berth.
Dear Lee, Unfortunately it bappears as if you accepted this odds when placing the bet as there was no price chance after the bet was placed. I hope this answers your question(s) however if there is anything else, please don't hesitate to contact us. Your enquiry id is -5738xxx52. Kind regards, |

These are the scores on the doors at Trust Pilot they score 3.7 overall.
Some very good reviews and some very bad ones. Manipulated |

If this thread stops just 1 person from opening an account with them it's worth it. Something very shady about them.

How can this mob possibly have been allowed to set up an online BOOKMAKERS
that's a very good question. and one that hits right at the heart of the completely inept GC. is it now time for a complete review of this absolute fkng shambles of an organisation ?? |
|
By:
with his background Quinn wouldn't have been able to secure a job - in any capacity, even cleaning the fkng carpets - with any financial organisation in this country. but the GC deem him fit and responsible to hold a bookmakers licence ??

Notice still clear advertising for Quinnbet under the jumps at Uttox today.
Read some google reviews and all are excellent, apart from the others surprisingly at the opposite end - funny that. |
|
By:
More than 2 and a half months on ive still heard nothing back from IBAS other than the initial acknowledgment that they'd adjudicate. Reading Trustpilot, it's obvious the numerous positive reviews are fake. Also interesting reading the numerous negative reviews from the owner featured in the Racing Post article who too had his money stolen.

Something has got to be done about these so called bookies. One can open an account and deposit and deposit and lose and lose but as soon as you win and try to make a withdrawal, they ask for all these documents and photos to confirm one`s identity! It`s an absolute disgrace that they still get away with this. Been going on since internet gambling began.

More than 2 and a half months on ive still heard nothing back from IBAS take them to small claims court..cost little to instigate a case. |
|
By:
Yes i think i'll go down that route. I can only assume that Quinnbet are not responding to IBAS as i'm of the opinion IBAS could make a ruling in a day.

The Gambling Commission really is a disgrace. They have a statutory objective of "ensuring that gambling is conducted in a fair and open way". As far as I can tell, they have in the near two decades of their existence, taken very little action in support of that objective. It has recently emerged that one of their licensees, GG Poker has had for an unspecified period had a huge backdoor in its software allowing hackers to cheat for $100ks. Complete silence from UKGC.
|
|
By:
Never understood why punters continue to use the online bookmakers. What do they offer that is better than what is offered on Betfair? Surely cannot be prices?
|
|
By:
No it's the enforced place terms Greenacres in particular races of shape with a mathematical edge and almost entirely non-handicaps , really suits us multi-dimensional punters which is why you need BOTH exchange and a facility to get on with a bookmaker either online but more likely in shops.

By:
dave - I thought that GG Poker thing only broke a few days ago, over the Xmas/NY break?
|
|
By:
The story did just break recently, but GG have said all sorted, only able to sieze a few k, sorry bout that. However as the GC should have been informed about the cheating, you would have thought that they would at least have said they were looking into it.

A simple rule for everyone these days should be:
Don't give funds, or deposits, to any small companies involved in gambling. It just ain't worth the risk |

Any UPDATE - bin bagged ?
QUINNBET - Now making a 'Join' them OFFER - Celtic Warrior - has Started a Thread on it. Amazed that QUINNBET have not had their LICENCE Suspended .... given all the 'Connections History'. Still - That would be the Prerogative of the GAMBLING COMMOSSION .... So - Don't hold your breath. ![]() |

Received an email from Quinnbet on Friday asking me to give my up to date bank details as my card had expired. This i did and yesterday i received an email informing me they were sending my withdrawal via bank transfer. Awoke this morning to the funds in my account. Although i'd done nothing wrong i'd written the money off. I still haven't received a ruling from IBAS and why the whole thing has taken 6 months i don't know? IBAS told me just after xmas the person they were dealing with at Quinnbet had left the company and they were now corresponding with someone else. I took that as Quinnbet fobbing IBAS off. Anyway if i receive a ruling from IBAS, which i surely will, i'll post Quinnbets reasons for attempting to steal my money. I hope this gives hope to others who have had their money stolen. Trustpilot indicates there are quite a few.
