A friend of mine took Ladbrokes to the SCC and they never showed up as they didn't have a leg to stand on. IBAS ruled against him fwiw. By all means use IBAS, but the problem with IBAS is you don't know what evidence the bookmaker in question is submitting, which may well be full of untruths and it's just going to delay things, which my gut instinct is what will happen in this instance. Personally, if you can't resolve things with Quinnbet, I'd go straight to the SCC, if they have jurisdiction.

I would also suggest you get in touch with Rick Bardsley. Perhaps start a Facebook and Twitter group to get the attention of other people shafted in this way? There is power and publicity in numbers. Maybe use the Information Commission as a means of getting information they are withholding from you?

Quinnbet is the trading name of two gib companies and one in london as per the UKGC site. Just illustrating the difficulties of establishing who you are actually dealing with. You would have thought that the most basic regulator would insist that UK law pertains to all contracts and a UK address is available for service of legal notices. As an aside the RoI doesn't enforce gambling contracts.

Obtaining a County Court judgement against the likes of Quinnbet almost guarantees recovery of monies ordered by the Court even if they refuse to pay SQ. All that is required is a High Court Writ via the Sheriffs Office, doubtful they would not pay when bailiffs turn up, all costs involved also recoverable by the plaintiff. hth

I have known friends take this route against (not betting companies) suppliers and once the case is won, the court has done all the work - eventually they will, as CG says, send the bailliffs in - and all the costs of recovery are levied against the loser of the case. |

My claim has been allocated a case manager with IBAS. I'd like to think that if Quinnbet allege i've breached ts and cs then IBAS will want to see evidence.

Sporting Options went bust in 2004/05 including losing most of the supposedly 'ring-fenced' customer funds on deposit, but as I recall Betfair bailed out most of the punters? |

In answer to your question Lee Ho Fooks a i have no experience of small claims court b i can submit my IBAS complaint in 15 minutes from my lap top and the service is free c if IBAS don't rule in my favour ( i cant see why they wouldn't but perfectly understand how the whole thing works, and they may not) then i can go down the small claims route, if Quinnbet still exist that is. |

don't have to know much binned. sending them an LBA (letter before action, plenty downloadable) would let them know you're not fking around and would have escalated your affairs with them past the "just ignore the cnt" stage.

Even if the service provider or trader is based abroad, you can have your case heard in your home country if the company is commercially or professionally active in or towards your country.

hulk, i think your googling got "eu small claims procedure" - not sure that is valid info. I would guess that there wouldn't be a problem taking them to court in the uk, but service of papers and enforcement of a successful judgement might involve retaining a gibraltar lawyer.

Of course this wouldn't be an issue if the UKGC insisted on a UK address for legal purposes and UK banking for that matter. I'm waiting with interest for the Peoples Republic of China to open a gambling site to harvest the vast info available from affordability checks.

Quinnbet for eg doesn't appear to have such an address on its website (at a glance) and I'd be surprised if it was unique. btw a correspondence address for the gambling commission isn't necessarily a correspondence address for all purposes.
