The more people that oppose Elliott's horses at Cheltenham the bigger their prices. Really hope he cleans up.
I only watch ITV races with sound off.

On this instance Elliot's or not does not bother me. It was not animal cruelty merely distasteful and sickening; at Cheltenham I back horses, not the trainer.

So the "ban" amounts to not entering horses under his name & not attending races?
By:

When: 06 Mar 21 14:23
Yep. No horse is allowed to run under his name and ban from racecourses. But, he can still train them at home.

Denise Foster is rumoured to be taking over.
--------------------------

DENISE ‘Sneezy’ Foster is expected to step in as licensed trainer at Cullentra House Stables while Gordon Elliott is suspended.

A statement confirming her appointment is expected after the weekend but The Irish Field understands that Foster has been informing her owners of the news, and a British Horseracing Authority source also revealed that Foster had made enquiries about having runners at Cheltenham.

Based in Enfield, Co Meath, Foster is held in high regard by her professional colleagues. She trains approximately 20 horses and her most recent winner was Swiss Swoo at Dundalk last month. She saddled Lily’s Rainbow to win a listed race at Navan in 2016 and Not For Burning gave her a winner at the Fairyhouse Winter Festival.

A former riding instructor, she worked with show jumpers in Ireland and Belgium earlier in life. She was married to leading eventer David Foster, who competed in three Olympics before suffering a fatal accident while competing in 1998.

Good move no doubt aided by Gigginstown. Mr Reynolds is staying put; the Morans, McManus and others have not indicated otherwise either. Only Cheveley Park has jumped ship.

So basically, just change your name to Denise Foster for 6 months & carry on as before.

Yep, but a few potential limousines have left the yard probably never to return.

'Gordon will be able to assist her as she requires.' Oh, I see - that's what it means to be banned from training for 6 months.

It is taking the p i ss, everyone knows it but are too gut less to say. Never mind, the goody goody boys will be happy he hasn't been punished. Maybe only the girl who looked after Envoi Allen will suffer. Result.

Never mind, if they rub the journo's noses in it enough even they may start railing against it. I won't hold my breath though.

Gordon Elliott Racing is pleased to confirm the Racing Post story that Denise Foster will take over the licence at Cullentra Stables during the period of Gordon Elliott’s suspension. Denise is vastly experienced and her appointment is great news for staff and owners

So Gordon just to confirm, you will still be overseeing operations from the office, you will still be getting paid training fees, you will still very probably be collecting 10% of horse earnings (by agreement no doubt with the new license holder). But you are banned from attending meetings?

An initial statement from Elliott's Twitter account on Saturday that said he would be available to "assist" Foster was later deleted.

"Denise is vastly experienced and her appointment is great news for staff and owners," said a second version.

In football terms like a suspended player just wearing a shirt with a different name on the back.

Wesdag, would you like to see some photos of Ian Crawford and gauge the reaction in order to keep your thread alive?

When does it stop from non important, insignificant opinions to let a life go on?

You are absolutely right Glen. Job done as O'Leary would be saying. All those nice guys who were worried you might get punished for what you did and spoke up for you. You can stick your two fingers up to them now. Job done. You've gotten away with it. Ha Ha Ha.

Tweet from Cullantra   ... the team would like to welcome Pablo to the yard to take up the post of Assistant Trainer. Pablo has a wealth of experience as a rider and trainer in his native Mexico, he's 15 stone, has curly black hair, a handlebar moustache and always wears his trademark dark glasses, any resemblance to a Mr G Elliott is entirely coincidental ....

Indeed. Horses regularly lose their lives on the racecourses esp chasers, and all they could manage was "that's what they like to do".

So  he hasn't been punished at all really. A 15,000 fine is his % for winning one race at Cheltenham (he wins around 6 a year. A 6  month ban ?! The horses still run and he just manages the training  by phone and email rather than being on the gallops - I don't see how anyone could suggest the ban is other than anything but extremely lenient.
There will still be a hundred plus horses in his stable , which he clearly will see oversee until he returns in 6 months..the season is over in 3 months anyway - pretty much got off scot free.

glentoby i'm not completely senile ;of course the BHA have no jurisdiction over the IHRB however they are in a position to exert considerable pressure by  threatening to refuse to accept entries from the Foster (Elliott) yard if they believe the ban to be merely window dressing.

Elliott let the cat out of the bag with his tweet yesterday ;presumably he got a phone call from the IHRB telling him to delete it post haste.   The man's obviously as thick as two short planks and the IHRB are going to have to keep him on a very short leash to avoid continual embarrassment.
